Sins of the Father

"'Is the responsibility for evil deeds passed down through the generations? This is Yevon's explanation of Sin. But if there is no individual responsibility, does that not make us all equally guilty? Therefore, piety is an illusion. The Grand Maester himself is as lowly as a petty thief. That Sin is attracted to machina is obvious, but why does it ignore the machina cities ordained by Yevon? Perhaps it is the will of the divine...but perhaps it is the schemes of mere men. It is theoretically possible to understand and control Sin. I've seen the labs with my own eyes. No one could organize this much effort if it is true that Sin's omnipotence is objective reality. So I've replicated the experiments on the soils of Home. But if I only learned the idea from the Yevonites, who clearly don't believe it, then from whom did the idea originate? And when? Perhaps...if Pyreflies can be molded and commanded with magic...then Sin has been an Aeon this entire time. All I know for certain is that this mysterious conspirator is my true enemy, the one I must destroy if my plans are to be realized.'"

*Luna clears her throat. The captain hands her a glass of water. She drinks it, setting down the paper she was reading.*

"I don't understand. What is this?"

<An old journal entry of the Maytan's. We found it while renovating the ship. I don't understand most of what he's going on about, but I thought it might make sense to one of you.>

OOC: Poor captain...your naivity will be short-lived.

Ingrid was sitting close by, looking out a window.

*Hitomi sits somewhere else, her arms wrapped around her knees.*

*Ark is standing nearby, thinking about the pilgrimage and Yunalesca.*

Captain<Oh...uhh...I see. So, are you going to fight Sin now?>

"There's something else I have to take care of, first. We need to head to Baaj Ruins."

*Not caring about Baaj, Hitomi stands up and decides to explore the airship.*

*Ark sits down and dozes off.*

Luna gets sick of everyone being a damn retard & murders them violently.

*Most of the ship is the same, but when Hitomi wanders into the engine room, she sees that Senthose's Fayth is emitting Pyreflies into some kind of sensors along the room.*

*Ark dreams he's eaten by a fish that looks vaguely like Senthose.*

*And he rocked that dream.*

*Hitomi glares at the statue then goes about looking at the rest of the machinery.*

*An Al Bhed kicks him awake.*

<Hey! Do something useful, for once!>

*The machinery is mostly the same as before.*

*He glares at the Al Bhed.*

Ark: <Whaddya want?>

*She stares at the spinning gears much like she was on the previous ship.*

Ingrid looks at Luna, and since no one else asked, "So, what is there at Baaj that you want to head over there?"

"Apparently, someone intentionally had Baaj destroyed to collect Sinspawn and experiment on them. I figure we can weed out whoever that was if we attack enough of their secret labs. And now that we have an airship that can go anywhere, we finally have the means to do so."

<You to do something useful. Keep up! Try mopping the floors, we aren't your slaves.>

"So... we're just going to raid a bunch of labs? Do you know where they are?" Ingrid asked.

"There's probably at least one in every temple. Beyond that, I don't know."

"Well, it isn't like I had any major plans. Raiding Baaj is just the perfect kind of way to use my time." She said with a small smile, looking back out the window. "How long until we arrive?" She asked no one in particular, hoping that maybe the captain would clue her in.

*Ark stands up and walks over to Luna and Ingrid.*

Ark: <I'm here to participate in your amazing conversation because we have an evil crew member that won't let people sleep even after they've had a shitload of successive battles. The solution seems to be talking, because he doesn't ask those talking to work. Or maybe it's just because I'm Al Bhed. Racism.>

"I doubt that." Ingrid said, "There has to be a barracks on this ship somewhere. I'm sure you can find someplace to sleep in peace."

"The crew is Al Bhed!"

*She doesn't say, "You idiot," but she sure is thinking it loudly. Soon afterwards, they touch down on a huge slab of rock sticking out of the ocean.*

Ark: <I'm aware of that. Prejudice within the same race is real.>

*Ark doesn't flip Luna off, but he glares at her in a way that implies he wants to.*

Ingrid sighs and shakes her head. "Anyway," She said, trying to change the subject, "It looks like we're here."

[It's like being in contact with Sin's Toxin.]

"I'll go get Hitomi. You guys wait outside."

*The airship doors open. Outside, there aren't any convenient bridges to take them to Baaj Temple. It's also ridiculously cold and humid out there. Luna instinctively heads for the engine room.*

"Hitomi? Are you in here?"

*Hitomi jumps and looks around till' she sees Luna.*

"Yes."
