Guidelines To Spare You Angst

RP Validity

An RP will be moved from "Make A Game once it meets the required # of active members, as specified in the description of the subforum. If it falls below this total for an extended period of time, it must either reach a conclusion, find enough active members to fill the quota, or be put in Storage.

An RP would never be deleted outright unless it was just some fake topic designed to troll, for instance a topic that exists only to spam. This is not the same as being a parody RP, which are still considered valid.

NSFW Policy

This has been a point of contention in the past. NSFW stands for "Not Safe For Work." It's bittersweet to say, but forumotion has decided on this for us. As it is their rule that there be "no pornographic or sexually explicit content" on their forums, we shall be following that rule. This does not mean that you cannot allude to sex or pornography, you just can't make it explicit.

For example, "look on the rack on that chick" is not explicit. A picture of a horse dick is. As is a detailed description.

Code of Conduct

Flaming-Hate speech, defined as a reasonably probable threat or attempt to incite violence, is banned. A big example is trying to get people to commit suicide. Other than that, I don't really care what you do. If you're being a prick, I expect nature will sort you out.

Trolling-I use a 2-pronged definition of trolling. A person is a troll if they don't post productively in RPs AND they post destructively elsewhere. It has to be both. I will not ban people just because they're annoying or they don't post in RPs.

Penalties-If you DO violate either of these, I will do whatever needs to be done to resolve the problem, but banning is a last resort. Though I do sometimes ban spambots on sight, so there is always a chance I may mistake a legitimate post for a spambot. If so, contact me.

The precise rules for an RP are at the discretion of its maker. The sign-up topic is akin to a contract. You are agreeing to play the character you sign up by the rules expressed in the sign-up. However, there is a general style that is often used here, which is different from what you might be used to if you RP elsewhere.


Godmodding-Don't try to be invincible. Since abilities will vary between RPs, & also between protagonists & antagonists, there's really no clear cut "rule" that can be made here. Use your best judgment & heed the maker(s) of the RP & any forum staff.

Bunnying-Defined as taking control of someone's character. Sometimes, this can be explicit, but often it's more subtle, such as someone assuming that you will perform an action & so posting as if you do. The rule of thumb is to always post that you're attempting to do something to another character, & waiting for them to respond. However, there are a couple of exceptions. First, the RP maker has the right to decide the outcome of a scene. I can negotiate, but not veto. Second, limited control of another character MAY be allowed with certain status effects or abilities. This is tricky territory, RP makers should think VERY carefully before they approve anything like that.

Auto-hits-Basically, don't be killing or dismembering people without giving them a chance to avoid it. You can do a little bit more if the RP has easy healing, such as magic, but don't try to use it as a free pass. There are no stipulations regarding the character of a person who quits. Do whatever you want. As always, the RP maker can communicate in the sign-up topic that his RP is going to be an exception.

Quitting-I request you talk this out with the RP maker. If you won't agree to stay, at least agree to give advanced warning so you can be cleanly written out of the story. The RP maker can try to use persuasion, but should know when to cut his or her losses, & not try to coerce them with bribery or blackmail, especially if it could affect other RPs.
