The Children of Shinigami

I don't know if I was supposed to get Neo to okay me putting something here or whatever but here it is.

~Story Overview~

Many ages ago, when men had not yet begun to travel the world and the great cities that lay across the Earth were little more than tents scattered around clearings deep in the forest, other beings stalked along the land and sea.

Shinigami, or the "Gods of Death" were creatures without true form with no true heart and only a single gem stone at their core to keep their souls from becoming lost to the void.

These creatures were unseen by all creatures but for some gifted with the sight to see. Unfortunately, Shinigami, whose only role was regulate which souls would be cast to the void and which would be sent to "heaven" where they would become part of "God" and further extend his lifespan, would spend much of their time hunting the creatures with the sight to see them for sport.

When humans grew and spread across the Earth, many of them were able to communicate with the Shinigami, and many were killed by them. Soon, however, the Shinigami had taught humans much of survival and of the God who created everything.

Many of the oldest Shinigami had grown tired of their endless existence, and decided to take up arms against the God who gave them a second chance and brought them back from the void. The Shinigami inspired many humans to attack the priests and those faithful to God, causing wars to break out in every corner of humanity.
Many of the Shinigami themselves attempted to use their power to attack God and consume his entire being, thus increasing their own power to an unimaginable proportion. It was then that for the first time since he created other life that God showed himself to all and destroyed the shinigami, leaving only a few left that scattered to various corners of the Earth and hid.

It was then that God created the system of the gates, where a dying Soul will appear and he will be judged by a single, heavenly guardian. If the guardian rules that he is unworthy, he is cast into the left gate- the void. If the guardian judges him to be a worthy and pure being, he is sent to become a part of God himself.

The wars in humanity ended but never truly went away, and even now many humans are still gifted with abilities similar to the Shinigami through exposure to the core stones left scattered after the destruction of the Shinigami.
These abilities include the Second Self, Temporary Soul Trapping, Illusions made by Moonlight, Reality Bending and the ability to sense other souls.

This story takes place in one corner of the world of humanity, the Suihaimah Empire, where rival clans bicker and assassins make their fortune.

The Suihaimah Empire was once mighty, now split. The capital city lies to the far east on the main land, unable to shift his armies or take his attention from bordering Empires and Kingdoms for a minute, for the threat of invasion.
On the large island, warlords squabble over their vast territories.




To the north are the Otori, to the west are the Seishuu, to the east are the Tohan, and to the south are various smaller clans such as the Shirakawa, the Tsuyu and the Miro.

This is set in a time where mega fauna and other strange creatures still lived, and when man understood the mysteries is the magic gifted by the gods to certain individuals.

Powers and What They Do.


Powers are gotten by coming in direct contact with a "core stone" which are usually found underground or in ruins.

Second Self - A very basic power where you can create an image of yourself that will stay in your place. Depending on how well you have mastered this power, you may still be seen as well as your second self and the time it last varies widely.

Temp. Soul Trapping - A much more difficult ability where you take a soul and trap it in and object. This leaves the body of the soul completely lifeless. If the object is destroyed, the soul is sent directly to the guardian and the gates to be judged. It is far harder to trap the soul of a an than it is to trap the soul of a rat.

Illusions - Illusions are exactly that, but they are easy to see through and are not very hard to do.

Bending Reality - The hardest of all abilities to complete, it is the act of making an illusion that becomes reality to a certain extent and can even kill people in the extreme.

Sensing Souls - The mediocre ability to sense another soul within an area. The area size depends on your mastery of the technique.

For the purposes of showing how much you have mastered the technique, you must specify it as "Komakai Second Self" (Lowest), "Heibon Second Self" (Medium) or "Saidai Second Self".

You can also have a "Komakai" of every spell (except for Bending Reality and Soul Trapping), a "Heibon" of 3 of them and you can not start with a "Saidai" of any but you must learn them later on.

Also note that the higher level the spell is, the longer it will take to initiate and the more physically draining it will be.
