Better Left Forgotten

"Then we should get through with this fast," Noct said, motioning to the building.

Sab looked around, feeling as if she was being watched.

<What happened?!>

*Eve and Cameron start off towards the building*

Azuma: "An abandoned asylum, really? That just screams come in and be mauled by monsters."

Astarte mirrored Sab's actions, taking in everything within sight with wide, fearful eyes. Hector and Eduj followed slowly after Eve and Cameron.

*And so they begin hiking up the wilderness in various states of fear, the leaves crunching as they go. Lilith & Euryale keep a lookout. The building looms closer, but is barely visible through the trees, so covered is it in ivy & moss. The one exception is the gaping doorway, the doors having long ago fallen off & been stolen.*

N"Hey, stop."

A"Ahhh! What is it?!"

*Aroma practically drags Sab to the ground as she grabs her, ducks, & looks around wildly. Nero raises an eyebrow & holds up a red sweatshirt.*

N"I just stepped on this. I think it's Roatha's."

Your parents were found at your home, also unconscious, but under very different circumstances--I'm afraid they have very aggressive cancer. They haven't awoken yet, so we haven't been able to proceed with any treatments.>

Taiyo: "Does this mean he could be here?"

Sab caves like a twig, and is dragged to the floor, letting out a startled, and pained squeal the entire way down.

"Finding clothes in the wilderness," Mortal said, walking over to help Aroma, and Sab up, "That doesn't look like a good sign."

Astarte flinched away from Aroma and Sab. Hector looked at the shirt, "I guess it could. They could have left it out here, like some kind of bait."

Eve:<It's very possible.>

<Cancer? Are they...are they going to die?>

*Their attention is then drawn to echoing footsteps in the asylum.*

E"Could be, but hopefully that's him."

<Well...it's very serious. But I don't think we should give up before we begin.>

Taiyo: "Hope so."

Azuma undoes the clasp on his knifes sheath.

*Eve and Cameron stop when they hear the sounds, staring in the direction they're coming from*

<So you can't start until they wake up?>

"Wouldn't bet on it," Noct mumbled to herself, a bit spooked by the sound.

Mortal dusts off Aroma, and Sab, then looks towards the direction of the sound, "Well, shouldn't we get going then?"

*Nero sees Lilith rummaging through her backpack.*

N"What are you doing?"

L"Getting out the Emergency Machete."

N"...You bought a machete?"

*She gestures to Euryale.*

L"We bought machetes."

E"I think I'll keep mine in reserve, I mainly got it for if I was cornered."

N"Wow. That is highly illegal."

L"What? We're exploring. We need it for the undergrowth."

N"Yeah, sure. But I guess we should get out some flashlights, if we're going to go stalk some scary footsteps."

*Thiera & Nero do just that. Shining them into the building, all they see is a large, empty space with a partially crumbled divider to a small room, & a long hallway that occasionally branches off into other rooms & halls.*

Mortal can't help but smile at that, "Kinda wish I had one."

Noct offers her her knife, "Want mine."

"But it is so small..." Mortal said.

"Size doesn't matter," Noct replied.

"How would you know?" Mortal asked. Gabe giggled a bit.

Sab is too spooked out by the place to even catch the joke.

*Eve and Cameron get out their flashlights, then follow Nero and Thiera*

<What if they don't wake up?>

Azuma: "You call it the Emergency Machette?"

Mimiru and Taiyo fish out their flashlights.

"Well, since we're going in, this might be a good idea..." Hector reached into his bag of supplies and took out some face masks. He put one on himself, passed another to Eduj, and offered some more to Astarte and the newcomers. Astarte accepted one. Eduj got out a flashlight after putting on his mask and followed Nero and Thiera inside.

Not wanting a lungful of cancer, Mortal, Noct, Sab, and Gabe all put on their masks.

N"I'll take one because it smells like ass in there."

E"I think it's the least of our worries, but whatever."

*And so they, Aroma, & Lilith also put one on.*

E"We should go before we lose whoever is in there."

Hector went inside, following Eduj. Astarte reached out and touched Noct's wrist, looking apprehensive.

Mortal walked with the group, close to the front of it. Gabe a few paces behind her.

Noct looked at Astarte, "Are you alright?"

So I guess everyone masks up and goes inside.

Azuma: "What kind of asylum was this again? Not the typical funny farm Arkham Asylum kind of thing, right?"

*Assuming they can have one too, Eve and Cameron both put on masks*

<But what if they don't?>

T"It was built to house tuberculosis patients. As was the case with most tuberculosis asylums, it was later used as a mental ward."

*Lilith & Nero shine their flashlights in various rooms that they come across, not seeing anything. They hear a crunching, & Aroma squeaks. Lilith shines her light down.*

L"Don't worry, we're just stepping on chunks of plaster."
