Waiting to Die

*After a few seconds, the music buzzes with static, stops for a full 3 seconds, & then resumes as normal.*

S"I'm going to go stay in a hostel. I don't like being out in the open for too long."

L"Okay. Do you want us to check up on your family?"

S"Only my mother lives here. And her coworkers in the psychiatric wing are keeping a close eye on her, so that won't be necessary."

*Elsewhere, the receptionist knocks on Stefan's door.*

<Excuse me? Stefan...Olligschläger? There is someone on the phone for you.>

"Where will we go?" Astarte asked nonspecifically.

"Who?" Stefan asked, probably sounding manic.

*Eve gets out a piece of paper and writes on it*

Who wants to talk to him? I can if no one has a better idea.

S"Just put him on speaker."

L"We should probably do the same, you never know when the police might come up with something to get us."

S"We'll be easier to find if we're all together."

Th"Are you honestly suggesting that we split up? After all that's happened?"

S"Either make yourself harder for the cops to find, or easier for the beasts. You cannot do both."

Th"Well, if we don't know that the police are after us yet, maybe we shouldn't take the risk?"

L"It's risky either way. Each person should probably decide for themselves."

*Eve nods, tapping her foot as she waits*

Tirea:<Wherever we go, let's find somewhere crowded...>

*Her voice kinda trails off at the end*

"Going anywhere all split up is probably the worst idea."

"...Whatever," Stefan sighed deeply, accepting the call however that was to be done.

<Just pick up the guest phone down the hall & I'll patch you through.>

*He hears the receptionist walking back down the hall.*

Stefan cautiously and with shaking hands found the guest phone and picked it up.

Astarte shrugged at Lilith.

*The receptionist's voice comes back over the phone.*

<Okay, I'll patch you through now.>

*There is a clicking noise & then they hear some mental patient wheezing.*

"Who is this?" Stefan demanded, whispering for some reason.

*Eve puts the phone on speaker*

<It's us. Your former classmates.>

"Are you going to kill me?"

S"We know the priest has a connection to the Shadow. Spill it."

"But are you going to kill me?"

Eve:<Only if you plan on attacking us again, and then only if absolutely necessary. If you mean us no harm, we mean you no harm.>

"Someone is going to kill me. I hoped it might be one of you."

S"You'll really be hoping for that if you don't stop wasting our time. Do you have any information, can you distract the priest, or are you just a complete waste of oxygen?"

"Uhhh... well, um, I might be able to distract him..." Stefan paused. "He thinks God is telling him to work with Ira and the Shadow... he's scared too. Who is talking?"

Eve:<Some of your classmates. What do you know about the church and how it's protected?>

S"The who is not important. Just answer the question. You moron."

Azuma: "He's probably about to die soon and this is wasting time."

"I..." Stefan swallowed hard. "He has a gun. He'll shoot you."

Eve:<We know that. I was referring more to the supernatural variety.>

Tirea:<Bascially, what is this helpful information you had for us?>

*Tirea sounds angry and annoyed, while Eve is calm*

"Ira wants him to look after the church for some reason... so it must mean something," Stefan offered. "Which probably means he won't only trust Grimm to keep it safe on his own..."
