Gathering Guardians

*Luna throws the ball through the water, but it starts to fall just a few feet away from her.*

Luna<...How can anyone play this sport? And I'm not even holding my breath!>

*The Ronso Fangs enter the inn. The inside has a few tables & chairs & the walls are lined with various books.*

*He smiles after emerging with the ball*

Ark: <You just need to practice more. Catch!>

*He quickly dives down and throws it towards Luna's legs*

"What about me man?" Zephyr questions as he floats there.

*Hitomi is standing about looking at the books on the shelf*

Rin<I was about to say, "Make yourselves right at home," but it seems that you already have. Might I suggest this tome?"

*He pulls out a book that is written in a script that is much rounder than the Spiran script.*

Rin<It is a book on the Al Bhed language. Phonetically, it is very similar to the Spiran language, but the sounds are all--how you say--jumbled.>

OOC: It should be noted that Rin speaks articulately, but with a classy French accent.

*Luna dives into the water, catching the ball, & attempts to hurl it through the water at Zephyr. After a few hours, she's able to throw the ball several feet through the water, albeit very slowly. However, she can still only hold her breath for a little over 5 minutes, on a good dive.*

Ark: <Not too bad princess! Feeling tired?>

*He throws the ball high up in the air and dives, immediately rocketing out of the water and kicking it backwards over his head, at high speed, towards Zephyr*

Which Zephyr takes in the head, "Ow" luckily it bounces high enough for him to smack it right back at Ark with a spike.

"Cozy little place."

*Syrona sits at one of the tables, laying her sniper across the table and setting her dual pistols in front of her.*

"What sort of grub you got here?"

*Rin closes the door.*

Rin<Oh, about what you would expect from a Spiran inn. Steak, pasta, whatever you fancy.>

Zazak<Is it cooked with forbidden machina?>

Rin<That is a trade secret, I'm afraid.>

"Little bit. There isn't much water around Guadosalam, so I'm not a very good swimmer. But I hear I chose the best time to start my pilgrimage, because the Blitzball season will begin in just a few days."

*He punches the ball at Luna*

Ark: <Yeah... being in the exploration team I've never had much time to try and join the Al Bhed Psyches... It's too bad, actually, I would really like to play for real.>

Zephyr rubbed his head, "You have a mean arm too Ark. So Luna what's it like where you live?"

"Machina, or not, I'm starving! Relax a little, Zazak!"

*Syrona had begun to do such good job at hiding her edginess that even she forgot she didn't trust Rin and his inn.*

*Hitomi is sitting on the floor under a lamp looking through the book on Al Bhed language.*

*Zazak nudges her.*

Zazak<You want anything? We might not be able to stop again for some time.>

"Trees. Trees everywhere. But not like the ones on this island. They're big & fat, so sometimes we hollow them out to make houses. Well...the season just started. Maybe we can find a way to get you in a team later on."

Ark: <Maybe! Ya know what, I like you. Anyway, anyone else hungry? I bet Xiin at the camp can cook us something yummy.>

*He stares down to the lake*

[... I'll have to investigate the machina some other time... A pilgrimage, I'm always so good at getting trouble.]

"Sounds good to me Ark" Zephyr swims back to shore and gets out.

"Cereal, please."

*Hitomi turns the page.*

*Nearby, a blond Al Bhed woman in goggles & a snowsuit shrugs. She heads in the back room & comes back with some kind of bowl of hard dough puffs submerged in milk.*

"Umm...I'll just...wait by the ferry."

Ark: <What, why? Uhm, if you don't want to go, I guess we're all going to the ferry.>

Zephyr grabs his blade, "What's wrong Luna?"

"It's an Al Bhed camp? I'm a summoner &, until yesterday, a priestess of Yevon? What if they don't like me? What if they call me names? I won't be able to understand them! What if they think I'M calling them names, because they won't be able to understand me?"

*After a few hours, everyone has eaten, napped, read, or did nothing. Whatever their choice. Then, suddenly, Ackbar stands up.*

Ackbar<Time to go. Still long way to Luca.>

Zephyr walked over to her and placed a hand on her should, "Then I'll punch em'. My duty as your guardian starts now."

*Hitomi goes to hand Rin the book back.*

"Thank you."

Ark: <Yeah, you do that, but don't come crying when you're homeless and with my dagger stuck up your--Luna, Al Bhed aren't bad people, I'm sure it'd be alright. Are you sure you don't want to?>

"I agree, the sooner we get there the better. Thank you. Rin, for your hospitality"

*She gives a curteous bow and gathers her things.*
