Endgame

Astarte gave herself ice claws on the tips of her left hand fingers and looked over at Roatha, but said nothing.

*Monu leans back, looking rather freaked out*

Tirea:<No idea. What are we going to do if they do come here?>

Noctis shook her head, "I try not to make a habit out of such things." She eased off the gas, not really wanting to put herself, the car, or Monu in unnecessary danger. She just needed to follow them, which required keeping them in sight, not being close enough to be easily shot.

Mortal thought about how Euryale dropped the floor of the hospital when they were surrounded once, "Well, you do have the power to drop the roof on Kane's head."

"I don't think Roatha meant the whole roof at once," Gabe said.

Mortal looked a bit crestfallen, "Well, I'm just saying she could."

R"Actually, that idea is even better."

E"Have either of you considered that, in addition to that being destruction of public property, you might get crushed along with them?"

R"I obviously have not considered that, no."

*The beam of light & whistle from the train cut through the night as they see it approach. Euryale squints.*

E"Wait...that's the same train that we put Zolt on!"

R"Are you sure? It's pretty far away, & kinda dark...."

E"Positive. They must have called in favors to get it re-routed within minutes after it left...."

*She swings, blasting snow at them a couple of times. Her hat flies off from the exertion, at which point she shoots an ice spike through it with her right hand & tugs on her hair with her left, clearly frustrated. Her body posture softens as she drops back into her seet, an ice wall rising unexpectedly in front of Noct's car, stretching the whole way across the street & even over the sidewalks, joining with the sides of the buildings. Noctis also runs over the slain hat, which is kind of rude.*

*They don't walk long before Senthose spreads his arms, blowing away a pile of snow in a vacant lot & revealing a cellar door. The door is covered in ice, & so it too opens from the waterbending. As he descends, she notices that the steps are also frozen over.*

"I'd tell you to watch your step, but I don't really care."

"Try to get to the car & flee to somewhere else, I guess?"

"Then we have to go now," Mortal said, "We can't let Kane get a hold Zolt. This was chaos enough without having to worry about him too."

Noct quickly raises a hand, and thrust her palm towards the wall, putting a hole in it for her to drive through.

"What will he do with Zolt?" Astarte asked.

*Eve slowly follows, careful not to slip*

E"Well, last time, he tried to kill him."

R"Is that bad?"

E"We're still upholding the law. Besides, Zolt is a key witness against Kane."

R"Then lead the way, I guess."

E"Okay, we don't have a lot of time, so when we get to the door, I want everyone to strike first & strike fast, try to knock out as many of them in the first few blows as you can. Except--& this is very important--EXCEPT for Astarte, who will throw up a fog barrier. You'll have to rely on the light from your Firebending to help you aim your attacks. If you can get Kane, good, but remember that lightning is a no-go on him. Near as I can tell, it's just him, Kali the Firebender, & several other Metalbenders. Meanwhile, I'll get to the train to rescue Zolt. We'll strike once the train opens its doors, that's when they should be the most vulnerable. Any questions?"

*As they do not know that they're still being tailed, they keep driving. They turn onto the road heading to the water treatment plant.*

*The doors slam shut & lock behind them. She can also hear snow piling back up against the doors. At the bottom of the stairs, Senthose flicks a switch, causing a hanging lightbulb in the middle of the room to come to life, the blue lampshade giving the space some more atmosphere. The room is an underground bar with some couches, like his main base, but a lot smaller. There are 2 doors, either closets or entrances to other rooms. Voland stands up from one of the couches & strides over.*

Voland<What is this?>

"This is Eve. She's an astronomer."

Voland<Northerner or Southerner?>

"Republic City."

Voland<You don't know her pedigree?>

*He squints at her, then turns back to Senthose, pointing in her face.*

Voland<This is a fire savage! Does it even have any Water Tribe in it?!>

"How should I know?"

*Voland walks away, tossing up his hands.*

Voland<Oh, brillaint, so you brought in some scum that isn't even a waterbender!>

"I'M the boss around here. You've never complained before."

*He turns around, advancing on Senthose & pointing at him.*

Voland<Exactly! I DIDN'T complain when you took over after Yakone. I DIDN'T complain when you left the original gang to rot in prison for refusing you. And do you know why? Because YOU are part of the Tribe. What are the others going to say when they find out that you'll let just any old trash join, as if we were common Triple Threats? Even those puny Equalists know enough to TRY to keep their group pure, though they don't know what actually MAKES someone pure.>

"You done? Good. I'm sure Kane already knows when the lunar eclipse is, has a plan to rub us out, & is working on finding us. What do you suggest, that we try killing the entire RCPD before that can happen? While that does sound like fun, I highly doubt that we would actually succeed."

*Voland glares at him for a while, then turns away, waving his hand dismissively.*

Voland<I can't believe that I'm hearing this cowardice.>

"I think you can, & that's why you're backing down. You may not like it, but you know that you'll only live out the rest of your 2 years on this Earth by listening to me & making sacrifices. Of course, if I'm wrong, you're welcome to just take your best shot."

*He unsheathes his sword, drops it, & kicks it over to Voland's feet. Voland must feel it hit his ankle, but does not turn around.*

"...No? Well...I didn't think so."

E"Alright, then let's go."

*She breaks them up into 2 groups, signaling them to sneak up on each side of the entryway. When the train stops & slowly begins to open its doors, she holds out her hands, freezing them. Then she kicks out with her foot, sending a chunk of road flying into the train station. The cops turn around, holding out their arms to break it into smaller chunks. Before they can do anything with them, Roatha steps in the doorway, unsheathing his sword & sending an arc of flame that knocks down most of them over. Kali moves in front of Kane, crossing her weapons in a defensive maneuver. She then continues holding one of her Kali sticks defensively & jabs the other at Roatha, firing a bolt of lightning at him. As he grabs it with his hand, Kane jumps over Kali. Performing a spinning maneuver, he tosses a chunk of masonry at Euryale & fires a cable out to grab Roatha's lightning hand.*

*Eve opens her mouth to say something, then shuts her mouth since she doesn't want to get caught in the crossfire*

*The weaselsnake nibbles on Tirea's sleeve*

Astarte made the appropriate motions and, measuring her breaths, began filling the whole area with a thick fog.

*The phone rings, so Senthose heads over behind the bar to answer it. Volund glares murderously at Eve the entire time.*

"Yes? I see. Well done. Put the word out to everyone to seek high ground & follow my lead. Then continue observing. Hm...use a fire ferret. It can sniff us out & enter buildings through small spaces. All told, I should only be about half an hour, anyway. Farewell."

*He hangs up & reaches out, prompting his sword to fly into his hand.*

"Kane, the so-called good cops, & even the Equalists are all occupied at the train station. I don't know what they're doing there, but it would be rude to let this auspicious circumstance go to waste. So we're going to Harmony Tower."

*He grins.*

"And then straight to police headquarters."

*Euryale waves a hand, knocking Kane's attacks astray & tossing Kali to the ground. She then begins running to the train. When Kane lands on the ground, Roatha grabs the sword. As he unsheathes it, he pumps the lightning through it. Slashing the ground, he sends the electricity into it, causing tiles to explode & eventually the floor gives way under Kane, dropping him & Kali into the basement. The other Metalbenders lash out with their cables, but most miss wildly, due to the fog. Some come close to Roatha & Astarte, however.*

*Ven turns on the radio again.*

<This just in, there are reports of a fight breaking out at Central City Station! At this time, details are unknown.>

*Eve stares at the ground, but watches Senthose and Voland out of the corner of her eyes*

<Think that's Euryale and co?>

Sensing where her fog wasn't reaching due to a person standing there, Astarte found the cop whose cables had come close to her and had multiple shafts of razor-tipped ice stab at them from the surrounding fog.

*There is a lot of clanging & it's really unclear how that turns out. Roatha swings, sending a wide arc of flame out as Euryale begins prying open the train door. Kali rockets back up out of the hole. Spinning, she sends fire every which way, dispelling the fog. Roatha spins his weapon to block & tries to make his way over to Astarte.*

*At Harmony Tower, Senthose does a quick spinning maneuver, compacting the snow under them & creating a waterspout to push them up. Once atop the structure, of course some police come after them. Senthose swings his weapon, sending a freezing wave at them, but they of course start to break out of it.*

Senthose<Deal with them. Voland & I have business here.>

*And so the Waterbenders raise their hands, gathering some of the low-hanging clouds around the tower towards them & sending them up into the upper atmosphere.*

*Eve nods before looking down at the approaching police officers*

I wish I could bend lightning. If would be so useful right now.

*She decides to start by sending a stream of fire at the police officers*

Astarte drew the closest fog around her into a quick shield in front of her in case of any lucky fire strikes and held it with one hand while with the other she frantically drew more moisture and fog inside with the other.

Stefan turned on a radio for the Trio to listen to, finding a news broadcast if he could.

V"I don't know."

<...Some reported sightings of a cyclist gang nearby, recently identified as a branch of the Equalists....>

*The Terrible Trio tunes in to the same broadcast.*

*That guy starts yelling because he's on fire & it is unpleasant. They work faster to try to get out of the ice, those who can get their arms free hammering at it with their fists. Meanwhile, similar cloud pillars can be seen drifting up from all over the city.*

*Roatha slashes with fire, but of course Kali blocks it & sends 2 strikes back, knocking Roatha & Astarte on their feet. Kane enters the train after Euryale.*

*Since that seems to be working, Eve continues blasting*

Astarte rolled to her knees pulled a thick swathe fog around herself, totally obscuring her image. The fog continued to condense and began taking the form of thick squirming tentacles.

"Equalists..." Stefan rolled the word around and snorted. "Another reason to just get out of this town."
Hector listened for any news that might involve the others.

*Once they break out, that guy drops & stops moving, even though he's still on fire. He is probably not okay. The others drop & roll in the snow to extinguish the flames. The clouds up above thicken, & a light snow begins falling.*

*With 3 jabs & a kick, Kali shoots a quartet of fire bursts at the weird tentacles. The train's walls begin bulging with loud crunching noise, as in something inside is punching huge dents in the walls.*

*Eve starts attacking the ones rolling on the ground*

Astarte's fog solidified in front of her in a multi-layered barrier of ice for her to shelter behind, taking the blows and being blasted into pieces. As the shards flew and fell, she seized them all in mid-air and thrust her fists forward to launch them all at Kali at high speed.

Hector left the room to go back to Ven and Tirea.
