Old Ones Return (VI)

Monodramon growls. Whether it's because of the situation at hand or because of the Ebola carrier flocking towards them and Hideki is anyone's guess.

Hideki: "Of course he is. He always is regardless of where we go."

Malkuth<Of course there isn't, they come from the real world, did you really expect your little D-Power to be able to send commands all the way up there?>

*He nods upward at the ball that is the human world, high in the sky.*

Th"It was the same at the ruins. We had to walk to the data stream, it would not come to us directly."

Malkuth<Finally, someone with a modicum of sense.>

Th"Why are you letting him speak to you like this? You defeated him, dragged him here, & tied him up, but he acts like he's still in control."

Malkuth<What do you expect? The blond wouldn't know how to work a toaster, the brunette acts like a toddler, & the redhead took so many blows to the head she was in a coma for a week.>

*Euryale flinches before shoving her phone in Thiera's hands.*

E"Take my notes, you're better at this than I am."

*She quickly turns away, raising a hand to hide her face from Taiyo & Renamon as she briskly shuffles off. Thiera looks around at everyone except for Malkuth, wide-eyed.*

Th"Did I say something wrong?"

Malkuth<Your team runs like a well-oiled machine.>

*Meanwhile, Azulongmon's face on the Monitamon's screen slowly blinks as he waits patiently for this scene to play out.*

*They groggily come to as Veemon returns with Elecmon.*

Elecmon<I knew you'd bring nothing but trouble coming here!>

*He comes to a stop, using his powers to make twinkling lights dance above his head. He also shakes a rattle in his tail. One by one, the babies stop crying to stare at him, transfixed.*

*DemiDevimon comes to a hover a few feet away from him.*

D<This is no time for your emo crap, we need to leave now!>

*Dianamon moves behind Elecmon and uses Goodnight Moon lull the babies to sleep. Once that's done, Dianamon addresses the rookies again*

<(Now, let's move!)>

*She takes the lead by grabbing sleeping babies and flying towards Ceresmon. Cameron and Karatenmon then grab more and start back as well*

Lyra:<Let's just finish this before we deal with anything else.>

Taiyo follows after Euryale as does Renamon as no one is big on the idea of her breaking the dude's neck. She could probably do it just enough to paralyze him.

Hideki: "And go where? Wherever we go, death follows."

D<I said this is no time for your emo crap, now come with me before I have to get rough!>

Th"But...what exactly is supposed to happen here?"

Malkuth<The deal was that once you had the information you wanted, I'd be taken to a data stream to leave you pitiful, doomed bastards behind forever.>

*She looks over the information.*

Th"There are obviously details that you have not told us."

Malkuth<It would take far too long to try to give you every detail of the security, not that I have it memorized anyway.>

Th"I still think you're hiding something."

Malkuth<Do you really have the time to puzzle that one out?>

*Suddenly, Ceresmon comes flying in with a bunch of baby Digimon. A gaggle of rookies carrying other babies can be seen bobbing along in the distance; Tsune, Gomamon, & Lopmon among them.*

*Euryale stops but looks to the ground instead of turning around.*

E"...I think you 2 should go back. They need you."

*Dianamon, Cameron, and Karatenmon continue to carry their babies towards Ceresmon. Lyra waits around, motionless. Meanwhile, Kotemon grips his wooden sword tightly*

Monodramon growls, fists clenched.

Hideki: "Monodramon, yield."

Monodramon unclenches their fists, but doesn't stop glaring daggers at the Ebola carrier.

Taiyo: "What can I do? I'm not as strong as you."

D<Alright, let's go!>

*So she turns around & starts flying to Ceresmon.*

E"You protected us from Jupitermon, & the others many other times. I just keep getting in the way & dragging everyone into fights. And each time we fight, someone gets closer to dying. Usually either you or Koromon."

Th"Fine. Let's just get you somewhere far away."

Ts"OR we could kill him."

Th"No, I am not doing that."

Ts"Why not? He tried to kill us, & he killed a bunch of other Digimon. Fair's fair."

Malkuth<Such as the fairness of going back on your deal. Of course, I won't be able to give you any more information if I'm dead.>

Th"We don't have time to be arguing about this right now."

*As soon as they arrive, everyone loads their babies onto Ceresmon. Dianamon then lands near Malkuth and the others*

Dianamon:<Who are we missing?>

Karatenmon:<We haven't seen Bacchusmon anywhere. Or Hideki and Monodramon.>

Hideki pulls himself up, against his better judgment

The"DemiDevimon has that handled."

Malkuth<Aren't you forgetting-->

The"We'll take you to the data stream on the way out! Not before!>

*Presumably they arrive.*

E"Probably safe at home. Or really anywhere but here. The only reason we're even in this mess is because I thought it would be a good idea to lead Kurata to the Domain of the Sovereign!>

A<who are you talking to?>

*As Koromon groggily opens an eye, Euryale finally turns around. Her eyes are unfocused & she looks like she might throw up.*

Dianamon:<Where did Euryale and Taiyo run off to? Once we fine them, we should leave.>

Hideki: "What's....going on?"

Taiyo: "We've come out okay so far."

D<Ugh, I'll go get them! And I told you already, Kurata's coming!"

Th"We are going to evacuate the babies, drop off Malkuth at a data stream, & try to come up with a counterplan!"

*DemiDevimon starts flying out.*

The"Find & return the refugees, as well!"

*She groans.*

E"But how long will that last, as long as I'm around?"

Dianamon:<Many of the refugees did not want to come. They have given up.>

Taiyo: "As long as possible. Even longer."

Th"I'll get them."

Ts"What if you can't?"

Th"I will not leave them behind."

*She heads off.*

Malkuth<How have we not crushed you all yet? How?>

D<Hey! What are you doing here? We need to go!"

A<Then...why is Thiera walking off?"

*Having reached them, DemiDevimon twirls around.*

D<Aw, c'mon!>

Dianamon:<Thiera! Ugh...>

*She moves to follow, but Karatenmon grabs her arm*

Karatenmon:<DemiDevimon will take care of Thiera, don't worry. We can't all go running off.>

*Suddenly, both Karatenmon and Dianamon regress*

Lyra:<...I don't know.>

Hideki: "Why is he talking? Why isn't he restrained?"

Malkuth<Because I am leaving this dump & everyone in it to their horrible deaths.>

D<Look, just go to Ceresmon, I'll get Thiera.>

E"I don't know if I should--"

D<I'm not afraid to tranq you.>

*Cameron stares in the direction Thiera walked off in, looking very worried. Biyomon pats him on the shoulder*

Hideki: "You're letting him escape?"

Ts"Well, don't look at ME, I just got here."

Malkuth<And unlike your friend, you're not QUITE stupid enough to comment on things you don't know about.>

E"Uh...okay...lead the way, I guess...."

*And so she does. Euryale follows, still looking ill. She briefly reaches for Taiyo's hand, but appears to have 2nd thoughts.*

Hideki: "Who thought that was a good idea?"

Instead Taiyo takes Euryale's hand, giving it a reassuring squeeze.

Lyra:<Good thing you were around to tell us your better plan.>
