War On Crime

*I suppose Artemis gets behind any available cover & looks through her scope.*

*Ven points at the downed Tyranno Boy, making a face like Mimiru just spilled garbage all over the floor.*

"You didn't--I mean he's not--?"

*Ven's ear twitches. Like a dog's.*

"I hear a child crying below us!"

L"This'll just have to do, let's go!"

*After having secured the closet as best as she can, Luna runs up the stairs.*

*Eve runs up the stairs behind Luna*

Mimiru: "Worry about it later."

Presumably they make their way down to the next floor, the others going upward.

There's a light coming from one of the apartments, the crying louder and more clear. Those coming in from the floor above can see the light faintly shining in to an adjacent apartment through a hole in the wall.

Tyranno Boy: "Just waste the kid already."

Tyrannot Boy 2: "Not until we get the money. Aw man, the kid messed himself."

*Ven makes a small noise of disgust & covers her nose with her forearm. Other than that, she & Luna spot each other & move quietly to get into position. Outside I guess Artemis is still trying to see what's going on through her scope.*

*Eve makes eye contact with Luna, then prepares to stop time in the row beyond*

Artemis can see the back of one Tyranno Boy while another is standing by, light machine gun in hand before they're pulled through the wall, the Tyranno Boy she can see the back, now appearing to be panicked and pointing towards the hole in the wall.

Mimiru creeps into the room next to the one the Tyranno Boys, staying low and hugging the wall.

They hear a crash and anyone who looks into the room Mimiru went into can see she pulled a Tyranno Boy through the wall and clubbed them with their weapon and is now bending it in two.

Tyranno Boy: "Step out! Do it or I'll waste the kid. Believe me, man, I'll do it!"

Ar"Guess that's my cue."

*And so she fires a smoke arrow at the Tyranno Boys. Meanwhile, inside, Ven suddenly disappears, reappearing beside the guy threatening the kid & stealing his gun, which she ought to be able to do because of super strength. If anyone is left, Luna shoots them with a bolt of electricity.*

L"Freeze them now!"

*Eve follows Luna's instructions, freezing time*

Ven gets a big whiff of the child's soiled drawers. A white kid, probably not even old enough to speak complete words. The look on the Tyranno Boy's face is a mixture of shock and fear.

Azuma comes in a removes the frozen child from the Tyranno's Boy's hold.

Azuma: "Zap him and let's hand the kid over to the police."

*Luna shrugs & zaps him as Ven bends the gun to render it non-functional & drops it.*

L"Perhaps we shouldn't meet with the police in person."

*Eve says nothing, her face scrunched in concentration*

Azuma: "Not exactly a good idea to leave him here. Also we'll need to leave."

On the streets, Artemis can see the police are once again gearing up to storm the building.

L"I am leaving. If you want to hand the kid over to the police, you can do it yourself. My goal was to neutralize the threats & retreat before they moved in."

*She makes good on her promise by retracting her spear & heading for the nearest exit away from the main police line. Artemis reports what she's seeing to them.*

*Eve unfreezes time, then follows Luna out of the exit*

They're best bet would be the roof and now they got a crying kid with them. Through the decaying floors, they can hear officers storming the main floor, kicking open doors and shouting clear when they see no hostiles as well as comment on the already incapacitated Tyranno Boys. Artemis can see three officers rappelling from the helicopter down to the roof.

Art"Three cops coming down to the roof on helicopter."

L"Lot more on the ground & most of you probably can't climb well. So unless Frost Hound wants to leave the boy behind & teleport us out, guess we're going through the roof."

Eve:<If there's only three of them, we might be able to get away with just stopping time. But the police should be able to take care of the kid, right?>

Azuma: "I got this, just stay close."

Sure enough it isn't long before they can see the lights mounted on the guns of the officers coming in from the roof.

*Eve stays close*

*Stayin' close.*

Sure enough, they now have guns pointed at them and flashlights shining in their face.

Officer 1: "Hand over the child and put your hands above your head!"

The first officer lowers their gun and approaches Azuma to collect the kid then moves behind the other two officers.

Hopefully everyone is super close because Azuma and Mimiru grab on to whoever is closest and he teleports them back to the roof where Artemis is.

Azuma: "Mission accomplished."

Eve:<Let's get out of here.>

L"Agreed, especially since that was entirely closer than I wanted it to be."

*Artemis jumps & whirls around, stowing her bow for the time being.*

Art"Jeeze, why don't you give a girl some warning?!"

So presumably everyone holds hands and Azuma begins teleporting them across rooftops away from where they were. It's not long before they're stopped by two assholes in costume (four pages back) who seem to appear in a streak of blue lightning. The one in black speaks, his voice sounding like the goddamn devil.

Black: "And took longer than it should have."

None of them can really find the desire to try to superpower their way through these two.

*Eve whispers to Luna*
