Waiting to Die

Astarte kept running and helping Tiera, though the weight of another person was making her panic.

Stefan kept moving at Schreiber's insistence, which he found odd considering he thought she tried to shoot him earlier.

The two get the hell out the door.

*As they enter the kitchen, Stefan sees a movement out of the corner of his eye, which would be Roatha stabbing at him with the chef's knife. He also hears banging on the wall, moving towards the entrance of said kitchen.*

S"Will we ever have a better chance than this?"

L"He's right, Thiera, going back in won't help anyone, that's the only way we might be able to do something!"

*This convinces Thiera, who allows herself to be led out of the back door, then turns to go around the house towards the front entrance.*

Eve:<Alright then!>

*Eve continues pulling Thiera along. Tears start to drip down Tirea's face as grips Astarte tightly*

Astarte opted to just put distance between them and the house without looking back.

Stefan yelped and made the kind of attempt to dodge away from it that only shit-in-pants terror can produce.

L"Hey! Hey wait!"

*Lilith runs after her, which is probably a bad idea as none of them have flashlight, & the forest is so dark it might as well be a wall. Hearing her sister running for some reason, Thiera points the flashlight wildly around before finally illuminating Astarte's path, though the beam doesn't penetrate very far into the thick bushes & twisted trees until it dies.*

*Stefan's back is now to the counter, and he can see the white head & huge, red eyes peeking into the doorway. Sideways. It is crawling on the wall. Schreiber had kept running forward without looking back, grabbing another knife out of the block as she ran.*

R"Take care of this, Slim'll kill me if I don't go after her."

*So he takes off running, closing the distance to the door in at least half of the time it took Schreiber while the white monster jumps at Stefan.*

They follow, trying to stay as close to the group as possible.

*Tirea just follows wherever Astarte leads, murmuring in pain. Eve shines her flashlight after Lilith as well*

Astarte slows at Lilith's call, looking back over her shoulder.

Stefan tries to scramble away from it towards the door.

*Lilith stops, shaking her head.*

L"Oh! I wasn't expecting--anyway, we should move together. Besides, we don't even know what's in there, or where that path leads."

*From the direction of the house comes an enormous crash, like a tree falling over.*

*That crash was the sound of the cabinets crunching beneath the white monster. Without skipping a beat, it leaps off again, flaring its wings, creating an odd beating noise as it hovers over Stefan, grabbing at him. Up ahead, through the door into the garage, he can see Dr. Schreiber roll over the hood of the car to put it between herself & Ira, unlocking it with a key she apparently stole. Ira had ran to the door, but doubles back now that he sees what she's doing.*

*Eve jerks around, shining her flashlight at the house. Tirea doesn't move or say anything*

Still fleeing. Or not if everyone is chasing Thiera's dumbass.

Stefan scrambled like a man pursued.

"Uh-what?!" Astarte asked, not sure why she had stopped at this point. "Let's go?!"

*Stefan is seized under the arms & the creature flares its wings, so as to fly back & avoid hitting its head on the lintel. Scrheiber revs the engine & drives through the fucking garage door. The others see all of this, owing to the rear & head lights suddenly coming on. Roatha makes a beeline to get back into the mudroom as Thiera starts tugging on Senthose's arm, pointing in that direction.*

Th"The monster! You have to get closer & shoot it, before it kills Stefan!"

S"You mean the guy who betrayed you to a sociopathic priest? You want to risk our lives to save him?"

L"I thought you said you wanted to take that thing out."

S"Ira may come back with more weapons."

*Eve looks around wildly*

<If you're not going to shoot it, we need to leave now!>

"Let's go!" Astarte yelled.

Stefan screamed.

Th"I'm not leaving unless we do something!"

S"Ugh, fine! Just point the light at it!"

*She does so & Senthose quickly fires off a pair of shots. The monster screeches, but disappears around a corner.*

S"Shit. Double around to the windows!"

*As he says this, he starts running around the garage.*

*Despite being wounded, upon reaching the kitchen, the monster persists, grabbing at Stefan's ankles with the claws on its feet.*

*Tirea continues murmuring under her breath. Eve follows Lilith and Thiera, shining her flashlight in front of her*

Astarte stayed right where she was.

Stefan struggled against it.

*It goes ahead & bites him in the neck. Then a bullet smashes through the window. Whether or not it was hit is a good question, but either way it's really pissed off because it screeches & hurls Stefan bodily through what's left of the window. Getting bitten by a monster, having your ears blown out by a gunshot, & being shredded by broken glass probably hurts, but Senthose clearly doesn't give a shit, as he's impatiently trying to get Stefan off of him & take another shot at the beast climbing through the window. Again it screeches, & they can see a pair of holes in its shoulder oozing some foul brownish green liquid.*

Astarte turns to Tirea, "Do you still hurt much?"

Stefan, shocked, just rolls off of Senthose and tries to get in a position that hurts the least, releasing a long zombie-like groan.

*Tirea nods her head, as it still probably hurts really badly. Eve remains near Lilith*

S"Get up! Come on, get out of here!"

*Senthose hauls Stefan to his feet by his collar, continuing to fire at the beast as he turns to run. Well, Lilith & Thiera don't need to be told twice. As they flee, a much louder shot rings out & Senthose takes a few wobbling steps before falling.*

*Eve follows after them, turning her head to see what's happening with Senthose*

Not wanting to be sticking around for this carnival, the two take off after everyone else.
