Waiting to Die

"Why didn't you just come out and tell us? We all suspected you," Astarte was still flat. "Maybe then we wouldn't have had to pull the information out of you while you bleed to death."

Tirea:<...Is that why you took our class into the forest? To feed us to the shadow?!>

<Couldn't...exactly...say I wouldn't go...because monster....>

V"I can't believe I ever trusted you!"

*Lilith unlocks the doors.*

L"If you're leaving, hurry up & go, we don't have a lot of time to waste. I doubt you'll make it anyway."

Astarte waited for Schreiber to get out.

Tirea:<...Right.>

*If Tirea is in the professor's way, she moves to allow her to get out*

*Schreiber sort of tumbles out. She rises back to her feet & takes a few shaky steps before falling again. Lilith motions for Tirea & Vaneassa to get back in the car.*

*Tirea does so, Eve looking from the professor to Lilith*

Tirea:<...Can you call the hospital and let them know someone's outside collapsed?>

"I still say if she goes to a hospital the cops find her and put the screws on her."

L"Do what you want. I'm busy."

*And so she continues driving towards the forest as they notice that sirens can be heard faintly in the background.*

Tirea:<I don't have a phone, but I guess those sirens should find her.>

Eve:<I guess she decided it was worth the risk...>

"I don't know if it was worth the risk to leave her alive," Astarte glanced back towards the sirens. "She could lead them to us."

*Lilith eventually parks on the river bank, using the keys to open the glove box & fishing around for the first aid kit.*

L"Forget that, we have more important things to do. Get anything that might be vaguely useful. Go around to take out the battery, siphon out the gas if you can find a way. We have to move quickly & dump this thing A-S-A-P."

*As she speaks, she jabs her knife into the screws holding the transparent plate over the light bulbs, unscrewing them.*

*Tirea gets out of the car, then heads around to the front to pop the hood. Meanwhile, Eve starts looking around the car to see if she can find anything useful*

Astarte cast her eye around after Eve's.

*The only other things in the car's interior are the lights, which Lilith is in the process of removing, & the radio. Apparently police cars do in fact have back trunks, so there might be something in there. Eve has full access to the engine, battery, oil & antifreeze containers, fan, & other items. For the time being, the sirens seem to be congregating around Grimm's house.*

*Eve presses the button to pop the trunk, then gets out of the car and cautiously heads around to check. Meanwhile, Tirea starts attempting to pry the battery free, first using her hands, then using a nearby stick or piece of metal if needed*

Astarte, not sure how helpful she can be especially considering her fingers and toes are still throbbing from the previous horrible experience, looked to see where she might be able to lend a hand.

*The stick snaps. With so many screws & bolts holding it in place, it's unlikely the battery will come out that way. The trunk contains a pair of bolt cutters, a lock picking kit, an axe, jumper cables, small fire extinguisher, a container of small plastic bags, a tape measure, a roll of police tape, heavy duty leather gloves, 4 strips of road spikes, a breathalyzer, a bullhorn, 4 large road cones & 8 small ones, a wrench, a crowbar, & a 2 gallon can of gasoline. Lilith finishes prying out the light bulbs & gets out, smashing the lights atop the car to unscrew those bulbs as well.*

L"Hurry, we won't have much more time before they come looking for us, & we still need to get this thing in the river!"

Eve:<Hey Tirea and Astarte, there's a lot of stuff back here. Will you help me grab it?>

*Tirea runs over, grabbing the bolt cutter, crowbar, and wrench, then heads back to get the battery out using her new tools. If she comes over, Eve passes Astarte the axe and fire extinguisher, then starts grabbing the rest of the smaller items (excluding the gas can and cones)*

Eve:<There's a can of gas back here, but I don't think I can take it with everything else!>

Astarte accepted both and placed them down next to the car before walking back and looking in the trunk, "Should we lay down these spikes?"

*Tirea succeeds in getting the battery free, without electrocuting herself, even. Hopefully Eve has somewhere to put all of this shit she's grabbing. Vanessa grabs the gas can & jams it into her backpack. Finished with the light bulbs, Lilith puts the car on neutral & turns the steering wheel towards the river.*

L"We don't want to let them know we came this way if we can help it. Keep them for now. Now push!"

*Vanessa puts her shoulder up against the car & shoves as some of the sirens grow louder.*

*Eve puts it in her backpack, carrying anything that doesn't fit. Tirea picks up the battery, then both go and throw their weight against the car to help push it into the river*

Astarte wrapped a line of road spikes around her like a sash and moved to the side of the car to put her own bare weight into pushing it to the river.

*It's slow going at first, but eventually the car begins to drift &, once it starts, soon accelerates downhill until it smashes through the thin ice forming over the river. Dark water bubbles around it as it quickly disappears from sight. By this point, the beam of headlights narrowly misses them, so Vanessa & Lilith get on the side of the road & run towards the forest as quickly as they can while being somewhat low to the ground.*

Astarte bundled the extinguisher and axe under one arm and dashed after them looking like some sort of stooped rug thief.
