Old Ones Return (VII)

OOC: Who's at greater risk of putting themself or others in danger? Who's in better shape mentally or physically?

Taiyo begins to let go of Euryale, hoping she doesn't try to run off or something.

*Euryale immediately runs off eventually looks up with a painfully forced smile.*

E"It's--it's fine, Mom! Everything's fine! We even have a plan of how we're going to beat Kurata & everything, right Thiera?"

*Euryale points to Thiera, who starts & turns around.*

Th"Y--yes. We have captured one of his officers, and plan to force him to tell us how to contain the D-Reaper data. Then Hypnos can use it to engineer a virus, allowing us to enter his headquarters--which we already know the location of--with little opposition. Netzach said that all of the D-Reaper hybrids came from a single source program just before he died."

Binah<Died? Surely you haven't-->

Th"No. Once Diaboromon had been purged from his body, there was nothing left to suppress his symptoms."

Saber<By the sound of things, frankly they were so busy killing each other that it's a wonder any of them were left for we Digimon to slay.>

*The girls' parents grimace nervously at this giant cat monster talking to them about killing people.*

Mr. Y<How many Bio-Hybrids remain?>

Th"Just 2. Kurata himself & a woman named Vanessa. Gevurah is the one that we have in custody. He is still alive, but has been stripped of his powers."

Binah<And--and you've seen all of this?! It's a miracle that you're all still unharmed!>

*Mr. Yamaki looks around..*

Mr. Y<But you aren't, are you? Your Digimon--she is conspicuously absent.>

Kylie:<She...she died to save Cameron and I. Daemon was about to kill us and she leapt in front of us...>

Taiyo pulls herself closer to Euryale although rather than in an attempt at restraining her as previously and more like an attempt to find comfort and security. Neither of which will be found.

*Euryale kind of awkwardly pats Taiyo's arm. I don't know what the other parents do, but Binah sways, light-headed, & has to be grabbed by her husband. Mrs. Rakshashi squeezes her husband's hand so hard that he can barely suppress the look of pain. The Aquas just kind of stand in the back, staring, stony-faced & tight-jawed. Mr. Yamaki takes off his sunglasses & they can see just how shitty from insomnia he looks.*

Yamaki<I see. I am very sorry.>

*Behind him, Riley & Tally nod.*

Th"Apologies will not bring her back. The only thing to do now is ensure that the advantage she left us does not go to waste. We should interrogate Gevurah as soon as possible. Kurata will surely be looking to silence him."

Bancho<That is fair. But afterwards, you must rest. IceLeomon should be able to connect us to Kurata's base, but it won't do any good if you're too exhausted to fight. Plus, I believe you all have quite a bit of catching up to do. We can commence our plan in the morning.>

Ts"But won't he try to attack us while we're asleep?"

Bancho<I am certain of that. However, with our combined forces, and all of the Sovereign present, we should be able to hold the enemy off.>

Th"I don't know if you've noticed, but the Digimon who try to hold them off tend to be destroyed."

Bancho<Yet the rest survive. Believe me, we understand the risks quite well. We will do anything we can to purge Kurata from the Digital World, once & for all.>

*The Sorensons look at the ground. The Kornels hold each other*

Lunamon:<He's right! We need the strength to digivolve again!>

*Lyra has now curled up into a ball on the ground*

Not being accustomed with most of these people or their critters, there isn't much they can do except feel bad that their and other children are caught up in some war because someone dropped the soap and didn't consider that using people that can't even be considered child soldiers to fight a war was a bad idea.

*After the silence stretches on for a while, Thiera suddenly stands up, not looking at the screen.*

Th"I will question Gevurah now."

*SaberLeomon stands up, stretches, & yawns, doubtless freaking a lot of people out.*

Saber<Very well. The rest of you are of course welcome to join us, but there's no need for all of you to come.>

*Yamaki nods, putting his sunglasses back on.*

Yamaki<Quite. If you would like to meet with your families individually, I can project the feed to each of your D-Powers individually.>

E"No, I'll go to."

*Euryale looks away guiltily, seeing her parents' faces fall.*

*Cameron stands up as well*

<I'm coming too.>

*Kylie looks at Yamaki*

<Uh, I'll talk to my parents, if it's not too much trouble...>

Taiyo: "Euryale...?"

"Let's go!"

*And so she sets off after the Leomon, Thiera, et al. with forced chipperness. As promised, Yamaki splits the stream between the D-Powers of anyone who remains in the area.*

Mrs. Aqua<Tsune, honey, why are you so quiet?>

Ts"I...don't really feel like talking about what's been going on."

*She grips onto Gomamon tightly & her father nods.*

Mr. Aqua<I understand that. Hypnos has kept us well-hidden. The Digimon left, they seem to think that Kurata has no idea we're here. But he's trying to gain permission to search countries for Digimon & what he calls "sympathizers.">

*Meanwhile, that bigass bird that Ceresmon Medium has been forming finally rises into the sky. The Medium opens her eyes.*

Medium<We have finished.>

*Cameron follows, staying close to Thiera*

Mr. Sorenson:<You guys need to take him about before other countries start letting him do that.>

Kylie:<We're working on it...>

*Kotemon takes Lyra's digivice and looks through it at Lyra's confused parents*

Mrs. Kornel:<Uh...hi?>

*Kotemon blinks*

Having seen the other's idea of subduing someone, they don't want to partake in what their idea of an interrogation is.

When talking to their families, no one says they're truly all right. They might be in one piece, but that doesn't mean they're a-okay.

*Euryale looks back sadly, noticing that Taiyo isn't following her, but then stalks off after Thiera & Cameron. Ceresmon swoops down to collect them & take them to Azulongmon, who is flying around with Cherubimon & Beelzemon.*

E"It looks like we're just in time. But who knows how long we'll have until Kurata attacks again."

*The cloud that Azulongmon is holding opens to reveal Gevurah pacing around, stripped of all of his weapons. Upon seeing them, he anxiously backs up, trying & failing to look unconcerned.*

G<So--you kids are back--aren't you?>

Mr. Aqua<Where is this this headquarters? We may be able to send you protection.>

Ts"Hypnos doesn't have anything to send me & you know it."

G<Don't worry, Mom & Dad, I'll protect her!>

<<Don't call us that.>>

*Gomamon droops. Mr. & Mrs. Rakshashi appear to be waiting patiently behind the Shikasus, arms folded in front of them, trying not to seem like they're staring at Taiyo.*

*Cameron crosses his arms*

<You bet we are!>

Mr. Kornel:<Is...Lyra ok?>

*Kotemon shows them Lyra, who turns away from the digivice. He then turns it back towards himself, and blinks again*

Mrs. Kornel:<What happened to her?>

Taiyo: "Umm, Mr. & Mrs. Rakshashi....Euryale's not all right."

Mr. Rakshashi<Yes, we realized that. What is going on?>

Mr. Aqua<So I hear your little pets transform. Into what?>

Ts"Well, Gomamon becomes a big horned walrus thing, then some kind of turtle-walrus-man on steroids with a big hammer, & finally we combine to make a plesiosaur."

Mrs. Aqua<...What?>

Th"You don't want us here, & we don't want to be here, so let's just skip to the part where you tell us how to contain the D-Reaper data."

*He grimaces.*

Gevurah<Well...I'm not really a technician, so it's difficult to recall....>

Th"Oh, you'd better remember like your life depends on it!"

*Agumon snarls at him to make the point, at which point he falls & crumples into a ball, pulling at his hair, with tears in his eyes.*

Gevurah<I--I don't know how he got a hold of it originally, but the D-Reaper has a line of code--so it knows not to attack itself! Anything it's inserted into becomes D-Reaper compatible!>

Th"Very good. We should be able to detect it using the D-Powers. In that case, does anyone have anything else to say to this sack of aging garbage before we go?"

Taiyo: "I...don't know. She's really jumpy and distant."

Cameron:<You better be quicker about remembering shit next time.>

*He turns to leave*

Kylie:<Digivolving doesn't always make that much sense. Patamon and Salamon become angels, and they're a hamster and a puppy.>

*Mrs. R looks on the verge of tears, but Mr. R waves dismissively at her with a slight eye roll.*

Mr. Rakshashi<Impossible, our Euryale isn't afraid of anything!>

Mrs. Aqua<And...what is this about--combining...?>

*As they climb onto Ceresmon, Cherubimon begins shooting lightning at something. Seeing this, Beelzemon tries to assist with his chaos blaster. Swooping around them in a ring is 4 converted Digimon: Imperialdramon Dragon Mode, Owryumon, GranKuwagamon, & HerculesKabuterimon.*

*Biyomon tries to digivolve*

Cameron:<We need to get back to the Sovereigns and the Chess army!>

Kylie:<We can, err, merge with our partners to become stronger.>

Mrs Kornel:<Lyra?!>

Taiyo looks at the ground, defeated even though he seen that Euryale is acting quite distant. Dismissive even.

*Biyomon manages to Digivolve to let's say Ultimate. Azulongmon turns to add its own lightning to the mix, at which point Gran Kuwagamon cuts through space, creating a rift that absorbs their attacks. With its other claw it creates an orb of darkness that it fires at high speed. Forced to dodge, he barely manages to close the cloud holding Gevurah, concealed within his claw. Cherubimon & Beelzemon are forced to dodge a Positron Laser, at which point Owryumon closes in, whirling around in a golden blur & slashing up their wings. Hercules Kabuterimon fires several balls of lightning at the Karatenmon & Ceresmon, most of which are intercepted by Ceresmon herself, the 2 Leomon, & the Sirenmon. However, Gizumon soon descend from the sky to fire upon them. Agumon is only able to Digivolve to Champion, & lands rather ungracefully on Ceresmon's wing, holding on for dear life as she flaps.*

Yamaki<What is that?!>

*At this point, they can hear the explosions & see the special effects in the sky near Azulongmon's giant, twisting form. However, before they can react, a fissure opens up, separating the Tamers, the Chessmon Formation, & the United Army into 3 distinct sections. The Tamers find themselves contained in a hexagonal prism of lightning created by 6 converted Kumbhiramon, a Vajramon rising from the ground before them. From out of the fissure, but on the outside, also emerge Gizumon, which project additional electricity to the barrier, & several D-Reaper Hybrids, to attack the United Army.*

G<Kurata's tryin' to take us down before we can figure out how to beat him! But I thought that the Devas were destroyed!>

Ts"He must've found their data when they reformatted!"

*Gomamon takes advantage of the revived Devas needing to prepare their next attacks to Digivolve to Zudomon & swing his hammer. As if there wasn't enough to worry about, from the coast comes a deafening boom & a flash of light, & looking in that direction they can see a mushroom-shaped cloud of water tossing around whatever hasn't been vaporized already. The parents look understandably horrified, but Yamaki quickly turns around.*

Yamaki<I want Yuggoth operational immediately! If you see anything that's not a lifeform Digitize, destroy it before it can reach the ground!>

*Karatenmon flies around the lightning, then uses Harmony Swords to anticipate Owryumon before using Feather Flare on him. Cameron scans his Power Plug in and MetalGarurumon's blaster*

*Both Lyra and Kylie jump their feet, and their partners attempt to digivolve so that they can join in the fight*

They Digivolve as much as possible although it would seem like a pointless gesture and launch ranged attacks at the Gizumon.
