*The archer Heartless is hit & knocked down, same with the Heartless Vega attacks. The lightning appears to have no effect on them, so Euryale jumps up & slashes the Spear Heartless, knocking it into the Gargoyle Knight. Once they hit the ground, she follows up with Stalagmite Slash before jumping back. Full of dents & chips, they struggle to break free of the rock impaling them.*

L"My thoughts exactly!"

*Upon being parried, the Gargoyle Knight falls back on the ground, taking the gash to the neck before swiping at Monu's stomach. Lilith darts aside, using Ivysnatch to grab the Gargoyle Warrior's axe. It wisely lets go of it as she hurls it at the Thresholder, catching it in the arm it raises to block, & then headbutts her. Outside, they can hear pounding & clanking echoing through the halls.*

*The gargoyle pretty much shatters into pieces, releasing an orb of darkness with yellow eyes & a grimace, which darts away from Eve, while the Flail Armor is protected by its shield. Behind them, Anna shrieks as the Gargoyle Statues right themselves & the Hammer Knight swings at Eve's head while keeping its shield raised.*

*Jasmine folds her arms, tapping her foot impatiently.*

Jasmine<I'm listening....>

*Demyx raises his hand.*

Demyx<Uh, before that, can I use your bathroom?>

*He heads off in the direction they point him, then Iago tells them all exactly what he told the Organization duo, about how the lamp was taken to Senthose's castle for safe keeping, how he escaped & followed the pair back, but refused to let Jafar out.*

Iago<And he's got all sorts of secret rooms in the palace, where he stored his shady research! He was working with a witch from far away, Malefisomething!>

N"Maleficent?"

Iago<Yeah, that's it! They wanted to release a bunch of Heartless all over the place, & kidnap Jasmine & a bunch of other Princesses, 'cause their hearts are pure light & will help them find a place called Kingdom Hearts!>

Sultan<That's quite the tall tale, Iago.>

Al<Really. Kingdom Hearts? 7 princesses of light? Sounds like a lot of complicated nonsense.>

Iago<I'm not lyin', I swear! They'll vouch for me, won't you guys?>

*Iago turns to the Organization.*

*He rises, covering everything below his eyes with his cape & gets right up in their faces. Thiera fidgets uncomfortably, watching his hat warily so it doesn't poke her in the eyes, a fact which Darkwing smiles as he mistakes for intimidation.*

DW<I might know a way...but I warn you, if this is a wild goose chase, you won't leave my lair in one piece. Follow me, if you dare!>

*With that, he whirls around, firing a grappling hook out of the gun & zipping up to a distant rooftop.*

*Axel bends over, hanging his head melodramatically.*

Axel<Aw, man, now you're both in on it...?>

*Meanwhile, an image pops up on the computer screen of a creature hanging from beneath the ledge of a building. It appears to be mostly made of shadows, or perhaps wings, or a cloak. Its face is chalk white with the typical yellow Heartless eyes, a wide fanged grin, & its black hair comes up into a pair of points.*

Vexen<Well, aren't you the lucky one? It appears your Heartless is in Traverse Town.>

*Axel glances up without standing upright.*

Axel<Wait, seriously? You found it already? That's not fair, we were here first!>

Taiyo attacks the Lancer Heartless with Brave Shot and follows through with Tiger Rage.

Vega attacks the Gargoyle Heartless with Brutal Earth following through with Ironfist Uppercut and finishing off with Beast.

Azuma: "This sounds like an accident in the making."

Irritum backs away from the image, afraid yet also confused as the name Traverse Town means nothing to them, but more afraid than confused.

*Monu jumps back, tossing his keyblade at the rend in the heartless's neck, using Wind Raid*

*Eve ducks and parries the blow with her keyblade, then uses Lethal Frame to move around the Hammer Knight to slash at an unprotected spot. She tries not to move very far from Anna*

Artexi:<That's...that's actually exactly what happened.>

*She crosses her arms and looks at Jasmine and the Sultan*

Artexi:<Maleficent will send more of her forces after you. That's why we're here.>

*The hammer knight recoils from being slashed & turns, swinging its shield around. Eve can also hear the sounds of stone sliding across stone & blades whirring through the air behind her. Out in front, the Flail Statue approaches the princess, while the black spirit dives for the stirring snowman.*

*The statue Vega is attacking explodes into chunks somewhere in the middle of that, with Beast destroying the Possessor released from it. Impaled & unable to defend itself, the lancer Heartless crumbles into lifeless, broken armor, its Possessor destroyed by a backhand swipe when it goes after Euryale. She glances to the doorway to see dozens of statue Heartless shambling in.*

E"Taiyo & I can hold them back, you focus on the door!"

*She plunges her Keyblade into the ground, pulling it out with a humongous rock spike extending it twice her height. As she does so, the Gargoyle Warrior breaks free & performs a somersault, slashing down at Euryale with its axe while the Archer Armor stands & fires an arrow at Taiyo. Meanwhile, Lilith weathers the headbutt, glowing pink while spinning the Keyblade around & stabbing it into the ground. A stem shoots into the back of the Gargoyle Warrior, & its eyes turn pink, hopping along toward the Thresholder. Not realizing it's about to be attacked, the Thresholder allows it to jump up, grabbing its axe before cutting one of its heads clean off. Afterward, it tries to retaliate with an arm swing, but the Warrior is jerked back while Lilith shoots seeds from her off hand at the Gargoyle Knight, helping Monu to shatter it. The freed Possessor flees away from them *

Th"That may be, but it is the only lead we have."

*She holds her Keyblade parallel, transforming it back into her Glider. She inspects the damaged side, where a few feathers have sprouted from the stumps.*

Th"I had hoped it would be more restored than this, but it can still sustain casual flight. I trust Hitomi will carry you once more?"

*She hops on, looking back for a response as she revs the engine. Up above, the indistinct blob of Darkwing can still be seen, presumably hanging back to wait for them to catch up.*

~Realm of Darkness~

*Axel stands up, scratching the back of his head.*

Axel<Well, whatever. What can we do about it?>

Vexen<Not much, I am afraid. Unless we can find a way to lure it back to its home, the best we can hope for is that we may somehow influence a Keyblade wielder in the outside world to locate & destroy the Heartless. This case will be especially difficult, since this is the lair of that hag, & the Organization presently has other priorities.>

*Iago hangs his head, but as Aladdin steps forward, the bird drops the lamp in his outstretched hands.*

N"I guess we can find wherever Demyx is freeloading off of you & go on Heartless patrol. We didn't see any on our way in, but that doesn't mean they're not on their way."

Sultan<Thank you. Let us know if you need anything.>

Artexi:<You should have several guards around the princess at all times. If you spot any heartless, send for us immediately, even if you think the guards can take care of it. Try to avoid fighting them if possible, and keep Princess Jasmine out of sight until we get here.>

Taiyo moves to avoid the incoming arrow, firing a Force Arrow at the Heartless with one Keyblade and using Bubble Blaster on the Heartless attacking Euryale.

Vega turns his attention to the door, releasing a Lone Eagle on the fleeing Possessor before swapping to his Keyblade, readying a Dragon Strike.

*The archer Heartless quickly swings its shield in front, deflecting the arrow back at Taiyo, which becomes a storm of dozens of arrows. After the Gargoyle Warrior shatters, Euryale lets go of the Keyblade & summons it in her left hand, destroying the Possessor with a backhand strike from the guard. Meanwhile, some axes, arrows, & possibly other projectiles are lobbed at them from the new crowd of Heartless.**

E"Taiyo, look out!"

L"No problem!"

*The Thresholder loses another head. The possessed Gargoyle Warrior begins spinning, hacking into one of the Thresholder's arms with an axe dripping purple fluid. The other arm reaches over to swat at it blindly, but Lilith points at it & it becomes ensnared to the wall with ivy, which strains as the arm flails to free itself. Vega destroys the Possessor.*

*The Possessor is destroyed, & the Flail Knight swings at Eve's weapon. Olaf looks around a bit, before headbutting the Hammer Knight as it looks about in confusion. It falls into the Gargoyle Warriors' attacks & is shredded, ridiculously giving Olaf a Kill Count. However, the Possessor streaks back toward him & Anna as the former pulls the latter away from the Gargoyle Warriors & toward the center of the room. The Thresholder responds by reaching out to slap at them.*

*She whirls around, hands on her hips.*

N"Yeah, I'm gonna go...somewhere that isn't here."

*He heads off in the direction Demyx went. Iago gives a glance back at the drama, but follows.*

Axel<Do you think we can get the Order to attack?>

Vexen<It is possible. I can also set up a program to alert me when the beast moves. When it goes hunting, it may be possible to lure it into a Dark Corridor.>

*He types some shit before the screen begins scanning again.*

DW<Stay close, & out of sight!>

*He drops a smoke grenade, which they can barely see him through, before using his grappling gun to zip off in another direction & repeat the process. Assuming they follow orders, he eventually leads them to a room atop one of the pillars of a suspension bridge. Inside is a cavernous lair a bit like the batcave; objects on display ranging from villain costumes to a giant coin, a ship shaped a bit like Darkwing's face suspended from the ceiling, a motorcycle waiting nearby, a giant computer dominating the far wall, & so on. Darkwing climbs down the latter to the floor below.*

DW<Hey! Old guy! Where are you, we've got visitors?!>

*Out of a silvery-blue puff of smoke, an [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] appears, looking furious as he raises his wand, blue magic twinkling on the end, at which point Darkwing leaps off of the ladder & points his gas gun at the wizard.*

???<Old, you say! Why, I'll show you old!>

Taiyo swaps the Stormfall for Thiera's Oathkeeper and casts Reflect, assuming Thiera isn't gonna be a dink.

Meanwhile, Vega unleashes the Dragon Strike on the Thresholder.

Irritum doesn't ask that if they can lure it into a Dark Corridor, what's stopping them from just walking out like that because these guys are assholes and the only thing keeping Irritum from eating Vexen's face is that they can't harm each other.

Artexi:<I'm sure you can take of yourself normally, but this is different. I'd be saying the same thing to Aladdin if the witch was after him.>

*The cavern smells like duck & chemicals. Thiera dismisses her Glider & glides in under her own power, which probably just looks like she's showing off to everyone else. She hovers near the duck & wizard, slowly landing.*

Th"Master Yen Sid."

*The wizard lowers his wand, so Darkwing holsters his gun & mumbles something like "I thought so" before heading off to his computer.*

*Axel plops heavily to a sitting position, before looking at Irritum.*

*Nero & Iago have now disappeared. Jasmine turns back on Eve.*

Jasmine<We can handle Jafar's minions. Who do you think has been keeping the Heartless out of the city since you left?>

*The Archer Armor moves its shield to attack, at which point it is immediately struck down by a hail of arrows, a Possessor rising from the broken armor, which glances around before streaking at Vega as he's distracted with his attack. Euryale shields herself & Taiyo with her weapon, which was not her plan, but this allows her to scoop up the debris from Ayers Rock & fire it at the advancing hoard as a Meteor Shower. Vega's strike impacts the left side of Thresholder, splintering it with deep cracks. Lilith uses an axe throw from the possessed Gargoyle Warrior & a Bramble Bomb to reduce it to dust, as the Eagle Claw sends large cracks running from the right arm to the rest of its body.*

*The flail wraps around the Keyblade, allowing the Flail Knight to wrench it out of her hand & toss it before it's destroyed. The released Possessor dives at her, while Anna & Olaf duck under the Thresholder's attack. Foolishly following them, the Gargoyle Warriors are slapped into the wall, where they shatter, also releasing Possessors that make a dive for Eve. The snowman tries to wave the Possessor stalking him away, but that likely won't last long, particularly with the Thresholder reaching out to cup its hands around them.*

Taiyo swaps back to her much more useful Keyblade, blasting the Possessor with Bubble Blaster from one Keyblade and casting Tidal Wave on the approaching swarm with the other. Vega meanwhile attacks the Thresholder with Malarith.

Azuma: "Sure are. So uh, how we getting in the castle?"

Since there ain't likely to be an Earth Core to burrow out from under Axel and into his ass and no Invisibles for Irritum to let attack them, they move to be not within arms length of those d-bags.

*Eve resummons her keyblade, then uses Fission to destroy the Possessors swarming her, assuming she can do so without hitting Anna and Olaf*

Eve:<Get away from the door! The Possessor is weak enough that just about any attack should be sufficient!>

*Eve turns and starts moving in their direction*

*Euryale joins the tidal wave with her Tsunami, tearing through the hoard. Seeing the Thresholder crumble to dust, the wave of Possessors decides to turn & flee into the opposite direction. The possessed Gargoyle Warrior is ripped apart, its Possessor speared through as it attempts to flee. Lilith jerks the Divine Rose out of the ground & fires a beam of light into the pulsing darkness of the keyhole, seemingly returning the door to normal.*

*Eve destroys the trio of Possessors attacking her when The Thresholder seizes & its body suddenly vanishes as a Massive Possessor, a dozen times the size of a normal Possessor, is freed from the keyhole. It takes a dive at Anna, assisted by Olaf holding her down, now with more gnarled arms, a sinister expression, & teeth made of icicles.*

DW<Shoo, shoo! Don't drool on the cape, I just had it cleaned! Anyway, I told you, no one is crazy enough to be outside right now!>

*Safian sees a framed picture of a little duck girl with red pigtails on his computer as he shakes his wing feathers in her face. Meanwhile, the wizard holds up a gnarled finger to chastise Azuma.*

???<Patience, my boy, patience, first I must see to it that you are who you say you are. Now, confound it, where did I put that blasted contraption?>

*With a poof of blue smoke, his wand is replaced by a travel bag. He pulls from it a dresser, a drumset, a grandfather clock, & a set of chinaware--all of which dance to various spots about the room--before pulling out a set of bifocals, which he puts over his eyes. Focusing them, he extends them almost to Thiera's nose as she fidgets uncomfortably.*

???<Ah, here we are! Why, yes, how could I not see it before? You're the spitting image of Binah Psyche! How is she these days?>

Th"She's--fine."

*Heedless of Thiera's frown, he sweeps his gaze across the room dangerously, seeing as he's still wearing over 6 foot long bifocals.*

???<Good to hear it, good to hear it...oh, but where are my manners? I'm the great wizard Merlin, & the King has tasked me to assist you on your quest by granting you new powers, before seeing you on your way!>

*As Irritum passes by Xyukuse, something shifts in the latter, which knowing Xyukuse, is probably murderous rage. The scene starts to come into focus &, if he exerts himself, he may even be able to move or speak some.*

Demyx is pouring himself a glass of probably grape juice & not at all wine, Iago is gobbling up an entire cluster of grapes in a single bite in that way only cartoon characters can, & Nero pauses with a rib halfway to his gaping mouth before looking under the table.*

N"Nope, no Heartless here!"

Iago<Uh, yeah, what they said!>

*Demyx & Iago flash her the thumbs up & horribly faux innocent smiles, both of which are really confusing in the case of the parrot.*

*Eve uses Lethal Frame to get behind the giant Possessor and stab it in the back with her keyblade. Monu charges it too, adding in a slash from his own keyblade*

Xyukuse has a good chuckle at the expense of Axel and Vexen as he has no idea who Irritum is. Probably too good of a chuckle.

Xyukuse: "I'm surprised Vexen bit it considering how much of a coward he is. You fall down some stairs or something? Not surprised Axel's here. Someone probably got annoyed by his catchphrase and thought cutting his tongue out was too much effort."

*Euryale does not go charging in, because Lilith said to bring up the rear & watch Vega. Instead, she slings her Keyblade over her shoulder & walks around to give him her Serious Face.*

E"I appreciate your help in the dungeon, but don't think that means we're just going to let you go."

*Lilith had glanced back briefly to make sure Vega was secured, but she now heads inside to slash the Massive Possessor as well, at which point it breaks into a cloud of a dozen Possessors that's rapidly filling out the chamber.*

Merlin<Doubtless you've heard of Dream Eaters before. You may even be aware that there are certain spells which can pull them into the waking world. But I am told Miss Psyche never quite got around to teaching you how to do so. A shame, really, as they make for excellent reinforcements when your numbers are thin, & wonderful companions besides.>

*The drum set makes a cymbal clang of its own accord, while the dresser stamps its "feet," but Merlin waves them off, before stroking his beard.*

As expected, Xyukuse tries to lash out at those Organization chumps, Irritum sure as hell not asking them who this ghost is.

*Eve casts Stop on Olaf. Meanwhile, Monu casts Tornado to destroy the cloud of possessors*

*Lilith jumps back, away from the tornado, & the Divine Rose is replaced by the Oathkeeper. Let's say she has instinctive knowledge of what spells Thiera has, so she points to the corner with it while pointing her finger at Anna & Olaf. In a flash of light, they disappear & reappear in said corner as the Possessors are all wrung into oblivion. Lilith then glares at Eve.*

L"We don't have much time, so how about you explain just what the Hell is going on?"

Merlin<You most likely came into conflict with Nightmares. You see, Nightmares consume Spirits and inflict malicious dreams, whilst Spirits devour Nightmares & grant pleasant dreams. Being opposite sides of the same coin, Nightmares can easily be transformed into Spirits & vice versa, by a variety of methods. With some exceptions. The most relevant technique to you, I think, will be to slay the Nightmares with your Keyblades. Afterward, Spirits of that type will head your beck & call, & will answer to you as a group: If one of you bonds with a type of Spirit, your friends will be able to command them as well. You might also befriend a wild-roaming Spirit, but this is trickier.>

Th"But Dream Eaters usually can only exist inside of dreams. The Realm of Sleep is tucked deep inside the Realm of Darkness, where even the Heartless cannot reach. How will we muster the energy to summon them into the Realm of Light?>

Merlin<Very astute question, my dear. I'm afraid that, with your level of experience, you will need to share your power with the Dream Eaters in order to materialize them. This means some of your abilities will be unusable while you have the Dream Eaters at your side, though I am afraid I cannot say which ones will be affected. They will, of course, return to you promptly once the Dream Eater's physical form has been dispersed or it has been bid to return to the Realm of Sleep.>
