In Zanarkand

Ingrid gets the hell out of dodge and onto the boat, "I don't know how to use this thing, I've never been good with Machina, you know, cultural hatred for it and all..."

*Hitomi looks at the engine for anything that can be pushed or pulled.*

*She sees a button & a lever. One of the guards jumps onto the boat before getting smacked in the face by the butt of a spear & kicked off. The other 2 fish around for the other half of the line. On the docks, guards are swarming in from all directions.*

*Ark walks over to the engine and takes a look at it.*

Ark: <All right, lemme try.>

*Ignoring Ark, she pushes the button.*

Ingrid, with a lack of any useful insight, sits there, waiting for the boat to move, or a guard to come within striking distance.

*This starts the engine & they start speeding off along the coast.*

Ingrid leans back and lets out a sigh of relief. "Praise be to... well, I guess that doesn't apply here... um, yay... for getting out of there..."

*Hitomi sits at the back of the boat with her book open reading by whatever light there is.*

*Soon they're out in the open sea, at night, with nothing but the light of the full moon. In a dingy little motorboat, which most of the waves are twice as big as.*

"Yeah. We're safe forever."

*Ark just stares at the water.*

"I just pray we don't get attacked by a giant, evil whale that sometimes flies and shoots world scaring lazers." Ingrid said, "Oddly specific, but we all have odd fears..."

*Hitomi adjusts the ways she's seated so the moon light is shining down on the pages of the book.*

*Water splashes over the boat, saturating Hitomi's book.*

*Hitomi slams her book shut, looking incredibly pissed.*

Ingrid looked at Hitomi, "If you don't mind me asking, why do you care for that book so much?"

"I like it."

"I wonder where that splash came from, anyway? It's moving in the opposite direction of the current."

*She turns around & just stares, mouth & eyes wide open. Water was dripping off of an enormous fin attached to the shoulder of a great, hulking beast. Sin lets out a whale song of death.*

Ark: <Innie called it. Shit.>

Ingrid sighed, "I realize you like it, I'm asking why..." She trailed off as she saw Sin and heard its whale war cry. "Everyone stay absolutely still... whales can't see you if you don't move..." Or were those dinosaurs... what are dinosaurs?

"Shut up."

*Sin dives into the water, which causes the boat to be sucked towards a whirlpool. Worse yet, the engine combusts trying to fight it.*

"Well, I guess I planned to fight Sin sooner or later!"

*She pulls out her spear & summons Bahamut, who hovers near the boat. A quartet of Sinscales climbs up onto the deck. She slashes at one, which lets out a shriek.*

*Hitomi fires a Firaga at a Sinscale.*

Ingrid does the same to another Sinscale.

*While they're slaughtering the Sinscales, they notice that the moonlight is gone. Looking up, they see Sin's mouth closing on them. It clamps down, Bahamut turning instantly to Pyreflies.*

*The party, sans Luna, is floating on a mysterious, shallow river full of Yevon glyphs. The sky is nothing but swirling pink clouds & pyreflies drift all over the place.*
