God Yet Lives

Noctis changes her seating position so that she is sitting closer to Euryale, becoming increasingly more freaked out, "Well, I'm sorry, it isn't 120lbs. I guess you'll have to make do." She said, feigning politeness. She then took a bite, and looked at Euryale. "Aren't you going to eat?" She asked, What if she doesn't like my cooking. Is it good... I've been trying to get better... Noct thought, waiting for Euryale to take a bite.

Mortal let out a sigh, figuring that this wouldn't be a battle she would take easily. "Alright," She said, sheathing her sword, but keeping a hand on the hilt, "What exactly have you been told about me, and by who? Also, what is this potential that I don't meet?" Mortal asked. "Most importantly, who are you and what do you want with me?"

Sab had already released and was waiting by the doorway to the bedroom, in case she was needed.

*He glances at Sab.*

<You're the one they call a "teleporter." That's adorable, really.>

*He looks back at Mortal.*

<She will reveal herself to you if she so desires. As for the two of us? I am known as Malkuth. And you? You could be ruling Hueco Mundo right now. Why not? Are you frightened of the mushroom?>

*Euryale raised an eyebrow at Noct's unusual behavior as she wound up some spaghetti, skewered a piece of chicken, & took a bite.*

"It's really good."

*Euryale looks over to notice that Ven had released & was eating chunks of chicken off of her claws.*

"(Dear sweet Amaterasu, what is she doing?)"

Mortal scoffed, "I'm not afraid of that jellyfish, I simply... What do you mean mushroom?" Mortal asked, "What happened to Senthose?" Her grip on her sword tightened.

Noctis was overjoyed to hear Euryale say that and took a bite of her food again, to her surprise it even tasted better to her than before. Looking up from her plate she noticed Ven digging in with her claws, and sharp teeth, and-- for an instant she could have sworn Ven looked up at her, and Noct felt incredibly off put. Thinking it was just her mind playing tricks on her Noctis said, "Um, Ven,would you please use the utensils to eat..."

<If my colleague has done his job correctly, he's already dead. As he should have been months ago, because you should have killed him.>

*Ven was licking the remains off of her fingers. She looked Noctis in the face, sniffed, & licked her lips.*

V"The what?"

Noct froze for a second before quickly saying, "Nevermind, nothing."

Mortal gritted her teeth, "Where is your colleague?" Her grip on her zan had turned her knuckles white.

"Listen, Kite, this guy could have some kind of information to help us complete this mission" Kira explained, sounding very agitated, "And I fail to see what's so badass about him. Bakudo 1, Sai!"
He pointed at the old man as he used the Kido.

*The man hurls one of the mushrooms on the ground, producing a cloud of smoke. When Noah blows it away, he's gone.*

N"Tell me, what's it like to be outwitted by a homeless lunatic armed only with mold he peeled off of a house?"

*She licks off the plate & holds it in her mouth. Euryale is about halfway done.*

V"More pleath."

<The Soul Society. Though he's not there to kill Senthose. No, that job belongs to Netzach. That is, if we ever figure out where that dangerous, chauvinistic, manchild lunatic is hiding.>

"I don't understand how my Bakudo didn't work on him" Kira replied,looking crestfallen "Unless he wasn't really just some homeless Rukon citizen."

N"I didn't detect any unusual Reitsu from him. Anyway, I elected to leave managing my squad to my lieutenant and come along on this mission."

*Kite is too busy laughing histerically to make any remarks.*

Kira shot a venomous glance at Kite before turning to Noah, "So, what do you suppose we do now? Or rather, where do we go?"

Mortal let out a sigh, "Ah, so you have not actually killed him. I guess it was foolish of me to think you could." Mortal said, relieved, "So, Netzach, yourself, another in Soul Society, and a her. That is four so far, how many of you are there, and what on earth do you people want with me?"

Noctis looked at Ven, "Okay, hand me your..." Noct thought to herself a second and came to the conclusion that she didn't want to touch Ven's current plate, "I'll go serve you another plate." She said, standing up. There wasn't much more left, but Noct rarely ate leftovers anyway, so it was probably for the best that Ven would eat the remainder. Noct returned to the table and placed Ven's second serving down in front of her. "I'm glad you enjoyed my food Ven." Noct said, taking her seat.

Atae is presumably still alive, doing something doctor-y in Squad 4.

N"Well, he's not going to be back in the Seireitei, that's for sure."

*Binah comes into the room.*

<Atae, would you mind going into my office & getting me the guaze?>

*He lets out a booming laugh that echoes all throughout the neighborhood.*

<Oh...but, seriously, let's get down to business: I represent opportunity. Do you remember your days with the Quincy? Worthless though he otherwise was, he put you on top of the world. You had the Soul Society, Hueco Mundo...all you had to do was kill those 2. A lesser man might be disappointed & disgusted. But, I say, better late than never.>

V"Yay, thanks!"

*As she rips the chicken apart with her claws, Euryale finishes & gets up to put her dish in the sink.*

E"That was nice. Especially after the mess my test was."

Mortal folded her arms, "I've seen you fight him, and I've seen him after a fight with you. He was very much alive in both instances." She said, matter of factly. "That aside, I'm afraid I have no upward ambition. Were that the case I would have tried my hand at killing Aamon and Senthose ages ago. Hell, were that the case I would have killed him a few days ago. But, that is not the case. I'm happy living here." She said, "Besides, what could I possibly gain from killing Senthose? Hueco Mundo? Sab doesn't really like it there, so I don't want it."

Noctis shudder as Ven dug in, and tried to focus on Euryale. "I'm thrilled you enjoyed it Euryale. You have no idea how much it means to me to hear you say my cooking was good." She said, with a smile.

Atae nods, bows, and goes to get the gauze.

"Do we just want to search around for a while in the Rukon, then?" Kira asked.

Atsuko was leaning against a wall in her barracks, just wondering what to do.

*Once she's in Binah's office, she hears her conversing with an unknown, bitter-sounding man.*

Binah<I think you should leave.>

???<Or what, you'll stop me? Tell me...do you know where your daughter is right this moment?>

*Noctis feels a claw against her back.*

<So very disappointing. But perhaps you'll change your mind when the flames of war reach your doorstep. Personally, I think we should just remove the dead weight-->

*He glances at Sab again.*

*He snaps his fingers & a Garganta opens behind him. In it, Mortal can see fire & the occasional arm-width chain stretching off into the distance.*

N"That seems to be the plan. I suggest we split up. I brought Hell Butterflies."

*He produces from his robes a cage with 3 black butterflies inside.*

*Atsuko witnesses a tarantula crawling across a tree out the window. It is all black, except for its back, which is white, looks hard, & has the appearance of a growling face.*

"What a gross little thing..." Atsuko mumbled, staring at the spider.

"Okay, then" Kira walked towards Noah, "Pass one."

*He lets the butterflies out. One naturally gravitates to each Soul Reaper.*

"Anything else?" Kira asked, letting the butterfly land on the palm of his hand.

Noctis sinks into her shadow and crawls out of Euryale's. "What was that?" She asked, scanning the entire house.

Mortal let out a sigh as the man left and looked at Sab apologetically. "It seems I'm going to have to be fighting again soon. I'm sorry we couldn't keep living quietly like you wanted."

Sab shook her head, "It is fine, just promise me you'll be safe."

Mortal nodded, then thought for a second, "There is one of them in Soul Society now."

"Should we go to warn them?"

"We already went to the heart of Soul Society to warn them, and it didn't go well."

"Still, maybe we can go to the outskirts of Soul Society. We could at least help out if something goes wrong from there, and it is probably safer in Soul Society than here anyway."

Mortal nodded, and opened a garganta to the outskirts of the Rukongai.

Atae grabbed the gauze and poked her head out the door slightly to see if she could see who Binah was talking to in an attempt to see if it was alright for her to return with the gauze at that moment.

*Atae's head bumps what seems to be an invisible, solid wall.*

Binah<If you're threatening me-->

*She hears footsteps heading out the door.*

*Soon after they split up, Mortab emerges in front of Noah, who grabs the Zanpakuto on his back, widening his stance.*

"What do you want?"

E"That was Ven. Tapping you on the back."

V"I was just going to say that I'm heading back to Soul Society now."

Noctis blushed a bit, "Yes... right... Ven. Well, um, thanks for coming over, I hope you enjoyed your visit."

Mortal looked at Noah and smiled, "Long time no see." She said, "Well, a few days anyway. Listen, I don't want any trouble, quite the opposite in fact, I want to help. These hell people are starting to make things personal, so I figured I'd do my best to help you guys out, you know, since we're allies and all."

Atae backed away and rubbed her head, trying to figure out what the hell was going on. She put her hand out and tried to feel the wall she hit, and find out how large it was, she also tried to listen closely to the conversation taking place.

V"Thanks, it was fun. Be sure to come back to Soul Society soon."

*She claws open a Garganta & steps in.*

*No matter where she presses on the doorway, she feels resistance. Until it suddenly disappears.*

Kira had gone looking around a poor district, and was walking through the middle of what was probably some kind of main street.
As he wondered along, he spotted one of the alleys leading off the street and sighed, "I remember walking through these alleys... I remember the bastard shinigami..."
He shook his head and kept walking.

Noctis nodded, "Right... will do."

"About the same time your enemies became my enemies. Speaking of which, there is one in Soul Society now, I don't know where exactly, but it may be smart to start searching for unfamiliar spiritual pressures before he leaves." Mortal replied.

Atae rushed out of the room when she felt the pressure leave and headed to where she thought she heard Binah. "Captain, I've got the gauze, but something was blocking me from leaving your office," Atae was unsure if she should ask, but she pressed on, "Did it have anything to do with the man you were talking to?"
