Golden Age: Revival

Noct was upset she did not know exactly how a gas mask worked, else she would have made herself one.

*Allina holds her palms out, pointing beams of light at the shooters' eyes.*

Allina: <Guys... ideas?>

R"I don't know, I can't magnetically charge the guns for some reason. I might be able to teleport us out of here."

Ptolemy<Good point.>

*He pushes a button & the sword flies up to where the light once was, sticking onto the roof.*

R"Aw, come on! How many booby traps could you possibly have?!"

<A great many. You see, I do not rely on sorcery. Why should I? I've ruled my territory for years with nothing but guns, intellect, & a little old-fashioned intimidation. I am not a child, & I will not play your games. Gun them down, and you all get a raise. Fail, and I turn on the gas.>

Noct scowled deeper than usual, "I'm not okay with this. At all."

*The group huddles behind Noctis's shield. Euryale, who has bullet resistant armor, tries to cover the other end, with her hands over her face. Of course, the remaining shooters move around to get better shots. A bullet whizzes through Roatha's shoulder.*

R"Damn it, not this shit again."

*He holds up a hand, & the sword emits a few sparks, before breaking the magnet in the ceiling & falling down into his hand.*

N"Hey, I didn't know you could cast magic without having the sword."

R"Neither does Roatha."

N"What?"

*An electric pulse emerges from the magnet. Everyone's eyes feel a burning sensation, but aside from that, it doesn't appear to cause any damage. When the next person takes a shot, his gun jams & Roatha forces his way out of the group, stabbing him in the stomach. Ptolemy pushes a button & green gas starts seeping into the room through small vents in the ceiling.*

Noct holds her breath, since that seemed like a smart thing to do, and widens her shield a bit to better cover the group.

*Meanwhile, Roatha is blasting people with chain lightning. While he's attacking, the bolts suddenly turn red. Any attempt by the militiamen to fire is met with a jam, so they eventually throw away their guns & draw combat knives. Ptolemy takes out & loads a handgun, apparently just in case. One tries to stab Euryale, so she grabs his arm, flips him over, & stomps on his chest, knocking him out & probably breaking his ribs.*

*Allina holds her breath and draws her rapier, surrounding herself in a spherical barrier of her own before running and thrusting at one of the attackers.*

Noct shoots one fucker with the shotgun version of Fomalhaut, then stabs at another with a shadow sword.

*Pretty soon, there is no one left not incapacitated. Roatha looks to one of the unconscious soldiers & stabs him in the chest.*

N"Whoa, what the Hell are you doing?!"

R"Yeah, I guess I got other stuff to do."

*He stabs the glass, twisting his sword around.*

Ptolemy<Has the stress robbed you of your mind? I already told you, it's six inch reinforced glass. And, in case you were not aware, glass is non-conductive.>

*Roatha fires a bolt of red lighting into the glass, followed shortly after by a puff of ice, then another bolt of lightning, then another puff of ice. A small crack appears in the glass, & Ptolemy raises an eyebrow.*

Ptolemy<Even if you do get through, I'll just pick you off on my own.>

*He points to his gun.*

Allina: <What's happening to him!?>

Noct didn't say anything, since poison gas was still in the air, but whatever was happening, she didn't care.

*When the glass finally breaks, Ptolemy immediately takes aim & fires. Roatha raises his left arm, taking the bullet somewhere in the humerus. He then stabs Ptolemy in the wrist, forcing him to drop the gun. With his other arm, Ptolemy pulls a grenade out of his pocket.*

Noct put a shadow sphere around the grenade, trapping Ptolemy's hand inside with it.

*Having not unpinned the grenade yet, this was more annoying than anything else. When Roatha twists his sword arm, Ptolemy punches him in the gut. Undeterred, he grabs Ptolemy's trachea with his fingernails & begins squeezing & digging in. When blood pours down Ptolemy's neck, he aims a hard kick into the control panel of his room, hoping to break it & electrocute everyone close to the window.*

Realizing that there wasn't a boom yet, Noct figures that the pin wasn't pulled, so she has little pincers form in the shadow, reaching out and pulling at all angles on the inside of the sphere, most likely cutting into Ptolemy's hand.

*Roatha slices through his hand & stabs Ptolemy in the chest. He also fires a bolt of lightning, causing chunky, burnt, bloody whatever to splatter the back of the room.*

R"That was too short. I should have let him go for his knife first."

Noct begins to make her way over towards the area, "Well, that ends that. So, what now?"

N"Well, the gas is still on, & now we can't turn it off. He came in through that door over there, which is our only exit. Unfortunately, it probably goes up into his mansion."

*Roatha is giggling slightly, nonchalantly stabbing the corpse repeatedly.*

N"I don't really want him teleporting me anywhere right now."

Noct nodded, a bit weirded out. Killing was one thing, whatever the fuck Roatha was doing was another.

R"Hey, do you girls have a plan yet, or are you expecting me to come up with something?"

*Nero points at the door.*

R"Jesus, it took you this long to come up with, 'use the door'?"

Noct chuckled a bit, he may be stab happy, but at least she enjoyed his humor.

N"Well, we don't know what's going to be on the other side, so--"

R"One side, pansy."

*And so Roatha pushes him aside, strolls over, & kicks the door down, revealing a long and narrow, but very well lit flight of stairs going upwards.*

R"There you go. Scary staircase."

N"I...don't think it was ever locked."

Noct chuckled again and started up the stairs.

*They arrive in a bedroom about 5 times as large as a bedroom should ordinarily be. The room is mostly white, but the designs on the wooden components of the furniture are gilded. Nero heads over to his dresser & starts opening drawers.*

E"What are you doing?"

N"Not looking for cocaine."
