Mugen didn't stab him. As I remember that was a shit ton of slashes. Champloo was all about stabbing and slashing though, I'm sure you can find Mugen stabbing someone in the chest... Actually, first scene, during the big fight to introduce Mugen, he stabs someone in the chest with a knife.
