God Yet Lives

Kira sat on his bed and stared at his Zanpakuto which was sticking into the floor, his eyes appearing sunken and his skin paler than usual.
He felt different. Very different.
He felt nothing but pride after Aamon was defeated and they began to rebuild their society, but that pride had turned sour. He had very little respect for his fellow captains, especially since one of them had betrayed the soul society and tried to kill him.
To make matters worse he was forced to join the side of the Arrancar again. He wanted to strike Mortal down, but was afraid he didn't have the power. Despite his status as a captain, he felt inadequate and meager in comparison with their powerful allies.

he sighed and closed his eyes, trying to connect with the spirit of his zanpakuto.

He felt his body relax as he slipped into his inner world.

Aera: <...Are you hiding from someone?>

A"If I took the number of Hollows who ever tried to kill me, & put it next to the number of Soul Reapers who ever tried to kill me, the numbers would be about the same. And judging from current events, Soul Reapers can say about the same thing."

L"Hmm...I never thought about it before, but...there's Keter, & Kira...Netzach...in fact, most of the Hollows I've ever fought have been sent by Aamon or Keter."

"I've been treating wounds from hollows long before the debacle a few years ago, let alone Keter," Atae said, "But I guess you have a point."

Mortal broke out of her daydream for a quick second to ask, "Which one do you thinks slaps harder, Sab or Aroma?"

"You gave me a compliment, and I thanked you for it... Is there something wrong? It literally just happened."

"Aroma. Sab. Hit hard. Pick one."

A"Yes. Stereotyping is bad. Look at her, she's a Hollow."

L"...I am not 'a Hollow.'"

"Really, I must have not noticed while I was enjoying the view."

"You're a hollow in the same way Aroma and I are Soul Reapers," Sab said, "It isn't such a bad thing to be a hybrid."

L"Hah. Tell that to your friend. I distinctly remember her calling me 'half-breed' several times."

A"You do? Wouldn't that have had to have been like years ago?"

L"So? I have a good memory! It's not like my entire day is spent remembering how people have hurt me! I do other things!"

Mortal let out a sigh, "Right, right..." She then went back to scouting the area.

"Do you, um... have friends you could talk to. It isn't good to just spend your days fretting over what people think of you."

"Apparently I did not," Noct said, "So, what do you think John and Lilith are up to?"

"Lilith went home, remember? And I haven't heard anything from John since he said...well, you know what he said."

*Senthose pulls up his robe to avoid sneezing in Mortal's face.*

"Sometimes I miss my Gillian form. It had no nose. Made all of the sand much more bearable."

*The cavern has gotten 3 or 4 times bigger since she was last there, so it's kind of hard to see Venezuela, but something is kicking up dirt off at the far wall.*

*She slowly moves to where the dirt is being kicked up.*

"Venezuela?"

"Oh yea," Noctis said, remembering, "I hope Lulu is alright."

"Sometimes I reminisce about being a dragon, but this form has advantages."

"Yes, I realize, but when I asked what ELSE you do you more or less said eat, sleep, and breathe," Sab said, "I mean... it can't be that hard to find someone to talk to. Aren't you friends with the humans? Why don't you try relaxing with them sometime?"

*Venezuela hops out of the hole.*

"What is it?"

L"I feel like I'm more of a burden to them than anything else."

"I don't want to hear about you kiddling your fadiddle, although in my professional gynecological opinion, you should probably see to the kiddilation of Aroma's before either Sab breaks her in or she catches female hysteria. Judging from the scent, that fool is going back to Las Noches. I wish I had a camera, so I could record the look on his face when he realizes he destroyed what little was there to rule over."

"Sorry... I didn't get the Hollow under control. I tried to tell you, but it wouldn't let me. And I didn't want you to get attacked like Rangiku or Captain Psyche, so that's why I said I wanted to be alone. But everything's all better now. It's gone."

Astarte had stopped listening and was looking around while scratching the back of her neck.

"No," Enkidu shook his head. "While I do have many enemies, I don't feel the need to hide from any of them. I just won't be seeking them out right now."
He kept walking, trying to think where he should set up a new home. Las Noches was wrecked, and Senthose was bound to search there anyway. He needed somewhere new.

*A smile again forms on Iris' face.*

Iris: <Haha. Sounds pretty suspicious to me! Riiiiight?>

*He bumps Aera's shoulder a few times and muttering "Hint hint" in a rather obvious manner.*

Enkidu was amused and let out a quiet laugh without turning or stopping.

"I'm sure they don't think so," Sab said, "They probably worry about you. I would if a friend of mine acted like you, irritable and depressed."

Mortal shrugged, "I guess we're heading back to Las Noches then."

"Me too."

Kira sat atop a massive white pillar, standing out from a raging black sea. He had a rigid posture and his face was twisted into a grimace.
He didn't turn as the spirit of his Zanpakuto landed on the pillar behind him, her face also ashen.
"The sea is far rougher than normal." She stated simply, alluding to Kira's changing temperament.
"Tentei, it's been far too long."
"I suppose."
"I need some kind of guidance..." Kira sighed, standing and turning to his Zanpakuto. "I feel... more and more inclined just to let everything play out without me. I've lost pride in my rank, the soul society, and myself."
Tentei raised and eyebrow, "Any particular reason?"
"Well, sort of" Kira shrugged slightly, "I think you know the most of it."
Tentei nodded and sat cross-legged atop the pillar, "Well, what do you expect me to tell you? All I can think of is 'suck it up', and I don't think that'll help you much."
Kira shot her and angry glance and also sat down.

L"I am not irritible!"

"That won't be necessary. If that's where he's going, let him play King of the Sand Dune. The only concern is if he tries to come back. He might not be a threat to you or I, but I imagine he could easily crush Aroma or Sab, if they failed to get away."

*Venezuela scratches her head, looking confused.*

"Okay?"

"I'm more concerned about the house. Something's probably wrecking up the place even as we speak."

*Taiyo looks at her, also confused that she's spilling her guts and it just seems to be going in one ear and out the other.*

"I didn't want you to be upset or anything since I kinda chased you away."

Mortal furrowed her eyebrows, "If he knows what is good for him he wouldn't even think of doing that."

"When you yell that in an irate tone it helps make my point, not yours," Sab replied, "I'm not saying you're a bad person. You actually seem like you could be quite nice, but you're always lashing out at people."

"Knowing our luck, you are probably right..."

"This is the same moron who tried to attack me, crushed the chair he wanted so much in a futile gesture of defiance, came back to the enemy's base to wreck up the place, & is still skulking around in plain sight of our Pesquisas. He has successfully proven that he is slightly smarter than the sand I'm walking on, & that he has a rabid hatred of furniture."

*Lilith folds her arms & turns away.*

L"Whatever. I'm not on trial, here."
