The provided link will help you to learn where everything is, & the fashion of the day, but don't feel the need to overburden yourself with too much information. This city is dynamic and alive, best experienced at one's own pace. With summer over, the Pro-Bending season is about to begin. But with the elections for the new Council of Five coming up, the issue on everyone's lips is the Triads. Word on the street is that "Lightning Bolt" Zolt is tired of putting up with the Red Monsoons muscling in on his territory, and has a plan in the works to drive the other Triads out of the Dragon Flats Borough for good. The Red Monsoons and the Purists must be furious. Surely they plan to retaliate against Zolt. And for their part, the Agni Kais can't be ignored either. They've been threatening major construction companies for maps of the city's underground for weeks now. When asked what they could possibly be planning with this information, Chief of Police Lin Beifong responded that the investigation was ongoing. The citizens of Republic City all want to know: What are the Triads up to? And what do the Council and the police plan to do about it?
- History:
The Four Nations Period For most of recorded history, there were 4 Nations: The Water Tribes (northern & southern poles), the Air Nomads (who traveled between 4 different Air Temples), the Fire Nation (based on a small stretch of volcanic islands off the west coast of the Earth Kingdom), & the Earth Kingdom (the continental region).
The Hundred Years War Nearly 170 years ago, Fire Lord Sozin, ruler of the Fire Nation, began a war for conquest that changed the world forever. Since the current Avatar was an Airbender, he began a genocide of the Air Nomads. Ironically, only the Avatar survived. He also devastated the Southern Water Tribe, drove the dragons to extinction, & began setting up colonies in Earth Kingdom territory. He did all of this with the aid of a comet that enhanced Firebending, dubbed "Sozin's Comet" in his honor.
Return of the Avatar 12-year-old Avatar Aang had been frozen in an iceberg for a hundred years. He was given a year to master the elements before Sozin's Comet returned, & Fire Lord Ozai (Sozin's grandson) used it to conquer the world. After the war's end, Avatar Aang & Fire Lord Zuko (Ozai's son) turned the Fire Nation Colonies into the United Republic of Nations, a land where people of all nations could gather together in harmony.
Bending Triads Some Benders used this new territory to set up organized crime, gangs called "Bending Triads." The first Bending Triad was led by a Bloodbending crime boss named Yakone. Though Yakone had his Bending removed by the Avatar, he inspired other criminals to continue on in his place. A few years later, the gasoline-powered automobile was invented, & electricity became a household staple.
Avatar Korra Avatar Aang died at age 66, about 20-30 years after his confrontation with Yakone. In addition to the United Republic, he left behind other legacies. He established Air Temple Island, where his youngest son, Tenzin, keeps the Air Nomad traditions alive through his children & non-bending monks, the Air Acolytes. Avatar Aang also requested that the next Avatar be found & protected as soon as possible. The new Avatar is a southern water tribe girl named Korra. She is currently training at the South Pole.

These are not all possible occupations, just the major groups.
Triads Agni Kais: Formed shortly after the war, this gang consists entirely of Firebenders. Even today, some anti-Firebender prejudice still exists, which fuels the rage of the Agni Kais. They have no formal leader, instead deciding their movements by a 2/3 majority. Uniquely, they perform almost all of their crimes in broad daylight, since Firebenders gain power from the sun. The Agni Kais are active in the industrial sector, particularly around Central City Station.
Red Monsoons: Formed 30 years ago by the remnants of the infamous crime boss Yakone's gang. Based somewhere along Yue Bay, the Red Monsoons are all Waterbenders, with a few elite Bloodbenders. They are currently led by a former warrior from the Southern Water Tribe, who went underground when it was uncovered that he is a Bloodbender.
Triple Threats: The only Triad that consists of Benders of all 3 elements. In fact, they often work in small "squads" of Benders of each type. They are lead by the Firebender, "Lightning Bolt" Zolt, & are considered the most formidable gang in Republic City. Zolt amassed a fortune by extorting non-bending shop owners with his protection racket.
Purists: The only non-bending Triad. They were formed in the Dragon Flats Borough in response to Zolt's protection racket. They frequently conduct secretive attacks on the other Triads, but aren't above attacking Benders in general. The Purists are lead by a woman from an Earth Kingdom island, who teaches the group Chi-Blocking, a martial art form that paralyzes muscles & temporarily disables Bending.
Law Enforcement Council: The council that presides over the United Republic of Nations. It consists of 1 delegate each from; The Fire Nation, the Southern Water Tribe, the Northern Water Tribe, the Earth Kingdom, & the Air Nomads. Decisions are made by a majority vote.
United Forces: The military branch of the United Republic. It consists of Benders from various elements. It is a navy branch that patrols the waters around the United Republic. They are also tasked with helping to maintain diplomatic relations between the other nations' leaders.
Police: The bulk of the police are the Metalbending Police Force, headed Chief Lin Beifong, however, other divisions such as the Waterbender Patrol & Motorcycle Cops do exist. The police patrol the city, sometimes with the aid of armored trucks or airships. Police are equipped with armor resembling a cross between samurai garb & police uniform. This is especially noteworthy in the case of Metalbenders, who also have a spool of retractable cable on their backs; to extend reach, arrest criminals, attack, defend, or even navigate the environment.
Business Future Industries: Headed by Hiroshi Sato, this is the largest industrial firm in the United Republic. Its chief product is the Satomobile, a gasoline-powered automobile for everyday use.
Cabbage Corp: Opponent of Future Industries, among other things, Cabbage Corp makes the compact, cheap, & fuel-efficient Cabbage Car.
Pro-Bending: Pro-Bending is a popular sport in Republic City. A team consists of 3 players, 1 from each existing Bending Art. Aside from the teams, there are of course managers, coaches, talent scouts, & people in charge of the Arena's finances & upkeep.
- Bending Styles:
It should be prefaced that modern styles tend to mix elements of various styles. However, while you can copy the moves, a Non-Bender can never become a Bender, & a Bender can never learn a new element, with the exception of the Avatar. The advantage comes from using your existing skills in a more versatile way.
Only a relatively small amount of the population consists of Benders, & it is linked to genetics. People hailing from Earth Kingdom ancestry may be Non-Benders or Earthbenders, but nothing else. In the case of mixed ancestry, the person will have 1 of the elements of their ancestors, or none at all.
Also listed are the "substyles" to each Bending Art, rare skills that a master Bender may be able to learn, through diligent practice.
Earthbending Earthbending involves weathering the enemy's attacks & waiting for the precise moment to strike. It involves rooted stances & rigid, heavy blows. Earthbenders tend to have a lot of muscular power, but their real power comes from forcing loose & propelling masses of rock & dirt. They also have strong defensive options, with the ability to create makeshift walls, armor, shields, & tents out of rock. -->Seismic Sense: It is possible for an earthbender to "see" through vibrations in the earth. Since it is not traditional "sight," it offers some benefits, such as being able to see 360 degrees, & seeing things very low to or under the ground. However, it also has limitations. For instance, it is impossible to read calligraphy with the Seismic Sense, & anything that lowers skin-on-ground contact hinders it. Stronger vibrations mean more information, & it is even possible to learn to use this sense to detect when someone is lying, though it can be fooled like any other polygraph test. -->Metalbending: In general, Earthbenders can only manipulate heavily mineralized rocks, not refined metals. With enough training, an earthbender can learn to manipulate the minute impurities in a metal to control it, dubbed "metalbending." However, some metals, such as platinum, are too pure for even a metalbender to manipulate. Special Feats: Earth compression, earth tunneling
Firebending Firebending is naturally stronger the more heat is present, but because it uses ambient heat as well as internal body temperature, it can be used essentially anywhere. Firebending focuses on quick bursts & flurries of aggression, with few defensive moves. Arched kicks, punches, even exhalations can all be enhanced with blasts or streams of fire. -->Lightning Generation: Some firebenders can create a blast of electric discharge from their fingertips. Unlike regular firebending, the firebender has only minimal control of the intensity & direction of the blast. -->Lightning Redirection: Another sub-style of Firebending is not to create lightning, but to redirect existing lightning. This involves "catching" the electricity, moving it to the stomach, & up out of the arm. This is because they need to avoid channeling the lightning through their vital areas, so a slight mistake when using this ability could be fatal. Special Feats: Heat redirection, jet propulsion, colored fire
Waterbending Waterbenders deal with the flow of energy; they let their defense become their offense, turning their opponents' own forces against them. They use slow, flowing movements to fight. Waterbenders can manipulate not only water, but also ice, water vapor, & solutions that contain water. They can even quickly transform one phase of water into another, with limited control over the temperature range. -->Healing: Healing uses the water that naturally makes up an organism to redistribute its chi flow & heal wounds, even broken bones. Healing is not a magic solution. It often takes many healing sessions to restore a heavy wound, & it cannot fix scars, amputations, or death. -->Bloodbending: Bloodbending can only be performed during the full moon. It involves using rigid hand motions to manipulate the water inside of a person's body & literally control them like a marionette. Worse yet, a bloodbender can also use waterbending techniques on the fluids inside the person, destroying organs, snapping tendons, & breaking bones. Fortunately, that takes time, & it is possible for a sufficiently strong person to fight back against a bloodbending grip long enough to attack. Additionally, another Bloodbender of similar skill can negate the effect entirely by using their own abilities on themselves. -->Plantbending: Plantbending doesn't actually bend "plants," rather, it moves leaves & soft-stemmed plants by controlling the water in the vascular tissue. A very rare sub-style, since it was invented by a uniquely talented Bender in the Foggy Swamp, which is a backwater tribe that does not affiliate itself with the United Republic. Name: Character's name. Surnames aren't strictly necessary. Age: At the very least, the first characters should aim for early to mid adulthood. Appearance: What the character looks like. Hair color, eye color, clothes, major features, etc. Nothing too outlandish. Occupation: The character's job. Doesn't necessarily have to be something in the sign-up, but it must be something available, IE no computer programmers, because computers haven't been invented yet. Bending: Firebender, Waterbender, Earthbender, or Non-Bender. Exact skills should go in the Bio, & be bolded. This includes specializations, as well as high-level bending skills. Bio: This is an important section because it explains & justifies how the character got his or her job, items, bending skills, other skills, pretty much everything. Instead of saying, "You can't start with X," I'm saying, "You can't start with X if there isn't a good reason for you to have X already." Note that age is going to be a factor in what the character could have accomplished by now. Items: Particular objects the character possesses. Especially items carried on their person (business cards, weapons, other tools), but not necessarily (cars, airships, buildings). Other: Anything else to note. - Code:

Name: Euryale Age: 22 Appearance: Euryale stands a few inches taller than your average woman, with a considerably larger bust. Her skin is a dark color sometimes seen in the southern Earth Kingdom, eyes a Fire Nation gold. She has red hair, which is currently cut straight below her chin & curled forward slightly. While on duty, she of course wears the police uniform, but off-duty, she wears colorful dresses that end at or above her knees, & keep her arms bare. If she wears shoes, she goes with sandals. Occupation: Metalbending cop. Bending: Earthbender Bio: Euryale's family started as a poor blacksmith family way back in the days of Yu Dao. Only in recent generations have they begun to move out of low class. Euryale was raised an only child to a single mother, her father having succumbed when she was young to a lung disorder. Between a consolation package from Sato Industries & a few odd jobs, she managed to raise & home-educate Euryale into her teenage years.
In part because she couldn't afford higher education & also because she thought she could do good with her Earthbending skills, which she discovered at a young age, Euryale joined the force at 17. But it wasn't easy. She had to start in telecommunications. She taught herself the seismic sense by feeling the vibrations in the phone, working up to those around the office, & then underground & on other floors.
This self-taught seismic sense impressed her immediate superiors enough that they recommended her for the Metalbending Police. At age 19, she spent a year in training, learning the basics of patrol & metalbending. When she finally "got it," she was allowed to join. She met her friend Mortal during training, & they got an apartment together. Items: Metalbending Armor, cable spool, handcuffs. Other: Though most people in Republic City nominally revere the spirits, Euryale is a bit more devout than most. Her room contains candles representing several spirit legends local to the Fire Nation & Earth Kingdom, & one for the Avatar Spirit.
- Senthose, Waterbender, Red Monsoons:
Name: Senthose Age: 20 Appearance: White skin, blue eyes, shoulder-length black hair. Wears a plain suit & long jacket that are dark blue to the point of being almost black. Occupation: Head of the Red Monsoons Bending: Waterbender Bio: Senthose was a young warrior from the Southern Water Tribe who grew up on ghost stories about evil bloodbenders like Hama & Yakone, & not a whole lot of fighting. These days, the warriors are mostly hunters. When he discovered he was a waterbender at age 15, he immediately began training to acquire the power of bloodbending. As a result of this training, he is also proficient enough to create an air bubble that can fit a small group of people.
Two years later, his experiments were discovered, & he was forced to flee. When he came to Republic City, there was already a rift between the supporters of Yakone's traditional methods, & the newer generation of criminals. He negotiated leadership in the gang by attacking rival Triple Threat squads, destroying their cars, & reclaiming their profits. It also probably helped that he attacked anyone in the gang who objected & left them frozen in the bay for the police to put away for good.
During this time, he distinguished himself among the remaining top Benders in the Triad. He is now arguably the greatest Waterbender in Republic City, capable of manipulating both minimal amounts of water using condensation, and huge amounts, forming tidal waves and water vortexes. Items: Straight cane that matches his outfit, inside is a blade made of whale bone, the handle of which is full of water. A hip flask referred to as a "water skin." De facto owner of the Red Monsoons headquarters. Other: It is a little-known fact that the water skin is actually filled with a hallucinogen.
- Roatha, Firebender, power plant worker:
Name: Roatha Age: 19 Appearance: Short, unkept brown hair; blue-green eyes; plain brown pants; white shirt; & a bright red jacket with gold buttons. Occupation: Power plant employee Bending: Firebender Bio: Roatha was born to 2 non-benders. His father is a lieutenant colonel in the United Forces, & is frequently away. His mother is a part-time waitress. Roatha is mostly a self-taught Firebender. A few years ago, Roatha got a job generating power at the Central City Power Plant & moved into the same apartment complex as Euryale & Mortal. The power plant gave him basic lessons on lightning redirection, as a safety procedure. He heats fossil fuels because he doesn't know how to generate lightning yet. Items: Currently nothing. Other: Currently nothing.

She was 10 years old when she discovered her Bending abilities and her father decided that she should take lessons in order to improve her skills and make use of her talents. Astarte recently left school and dropped her Bending lessons in order to work full-time in her father's Coffee Shop and save money to buy her own home. Name: Mortal. Age: 22. Appearance: Mortal has very fair skin, and platinum blonde hair that has continued to grow lighter until it became more white than anything else. She usually keeps it in a ponytail, with loose bangs, but likes to let it down to her shoulders every now and again. Her eyes are an icy blue. Mortal stands at about 6' flat, and has a voluptuous body. She has a small vertical scar over her right eye, going through her eyebrow. On duty she wears her uniform, but off duty she wears long sleeved t-shirts, with the sleeves pushed up to her elbows, men's slacks, and black shoes, with a belt to match, though her shirt is untucked. Occupation: Cop. Bending: Firebender. Bio: Mortal was born to two police officers and was raised in a style typical of that. Growing up wasn't harsh, but it was strict, and by the book. She made friends easily enough, but was a bit tough for a girl her age, and of course there was the bending, which she wasn't afraid to use. This quickly got her in trouble, but also gave her a healthy respect for authority.
Growing up it was uncommon for Mortal to be with both her parents at once. The worked at opposite ends of the day, for the most part, and rarely was the family together at once. While love fostered between them, it was apparent to all involved that their work came first, and from an early age Mortal knew exactly where she was going when she got older. This led to a life of law enforcement grooming where it was more common for Mortal to be studying penal code, and law, than reading a book. At first dawn on her 18th birthday Mortal found herself being shipped off to the police academy.
It was during this time that she met Euryale, and became quick friends. While Euryale was working on her metal bending, Mortal trained her ability to generate lightning. As Euryale completed her training, so to did Mortal. Her mastery over firebending allows her to use Jet Propulsion, Breath of Fire, and Fire Augmentation. After a dedicated stint of training she has also learned to use Wall of Flames, as she felt defense was incredibly important, especially after spending so much time with an Earthbender. Items: Police uniform, handcuffs, police baton. Other: N/A.
- Noctis Talea, Waterbender, Red Monsoons:
Name: Noctis Talea. Age: 20. Appearance: Lithe and slender, with black hair and eyes. Her hairstyle is what the anime kids call duck butt; put simply it is short at the back, and nape of her neck, with long sides, and bangs that come to her brow. Her facial features always seem to be twisted into a perma-scowl as well, making her seem unapproachable, and annoyed. Noct wears a tight, black, woman's peacoat, black, tapered slacks, black shoes, a white turtleneck, and a white scarf. Occupation: Head of Night & Co., and member of the Red Monsoons. Bending: Waterbender Bio: Noctis, Noct for short, was born and raised in Republic City. The daughter of a waterbender, and nonbender, was raised by her work-aholic mother. She never knew her father, only knowing that he was a waterbender, though it didn't matter much to her. She didn't have time to feel unwanted and unloved by him with her mother more than picking up the slack. As best Noct could tell, she was fiercely against benders in general, she didn't know if that was why her father left, or if his leaving caused the hatred, but in the end the only thing that mattered was that when Noct first floated a few drops of water her mother lost it.
She shipped Noct off to some school, but this would wind up backfiring for her. At the school Noct blossomed into an intelligent, and conniving young woman. She perfected her talent while she was away, and when she returned home to Republic City she displayed the fact to her mother. As Dawn was crossing a street her foot was caught in a puddle that quickly froze over. The oncoming bus could not stop in time. Noct turned the ice back to water, and walked back home with a smile to wait for the police to deliver the news that her mother died in a freak accident.
In the years since Noct has taken full control of her mother's business and has turned it into a front for the Red Monsoons, who she quickly fell in with when she learned the art of Bloodbending. Noct's mastery of waterbending extends to her extreme skill with icebending, able to Mass Freeze multiple people fully. Items: She keeps a flask of vodka, and a pair of brass knuckles on her person at all times. She also owns two Satomobiles, a race car, and a sports car, as well as the office building for her law firm, and her own home in the city. Other: N/A.

| Alright, this "specific moves" thing is proving difficult enough that I'm adding things to the bending styles.
Edit: Done. Really wanted to avoid that, since it's a slippery slope & doesn't account for original techniques, but it had to be done. There was too much confusion it.

Name: Monu Age: 20 Appearance: About 5'8 with dark blond hair and green eyes. he has slightly tanned skin. Monu normally wears a brown coat and pants, with a dark green shirt underneath. He doesn't always wear shoes, but when he does, he wears light brown slip on shoes. Occupation:Teaching Assistant Bending:Earthbending Bio: Monu was born to a mixed bender couple in Ba Sing Se, where he lived for most of his life. After showing signs of having inherited Earth bending, his mother trained him herself until age 10, where he entered formal training with a Master. There he learned, along with Earth Bending, basic hand to hand combat. While training, he developed Seismic Sense partly as a way of determining if people were lying, seeing as he had a slight problem with trusting people too much.
After he had mastered the basics of Earth Bending, Monu left Ba Sing Se and moved to Republic City in order to start a life on his own. Once there, he became a teaching assistant, helping to teach young earth benders while attempting to become a master himself. He has recently mastered the technique of Earth Compression and how now started on Earth Tunneling, but hasn't had much success. Other specific techniques mastered include Earth Wave, Earth Bomb and all normal techniques. Not really much of a metal bender. Items: An armband made of rock which likes to mold into different shapes when he's bored. Other:Mother was a Earth Bender, father was a Water Bender.

| If a skill hasn't been mastered yet, then it shouldn't be bolded. Other than that, don't be afraid to elaborate. It will still be a few days before I get this started. In fact, I'll pick a date later, & post it, so that no one is shocked when this thing finally moves.

| Not sure if I should just update my first post for my second character but: - Eve, Fire Bender, Astronomer:
Name: Eve Age: 19 Appearance: Eve is average height with golden blond hair and yellow eyes. She often wears black pants and black button up shirt with a long red coat on top. Occupation: Astronomer Bending: Fire Bending Bio: Eve was born into a Fire nation noble family. She was one the only one of her close family members to inherit Fire Bending, something that greatly pleased her parents. From an early age, Eve was pushed from Master to master in order to master fire bending. Unfortunately for her, Eve was not a natural bender. She had to work hard to even perform basic fire bending techniques. Even so, Eve eventually became proficient in Fire Bending. She was even able to master the technique of Colored Fire and Lightning Redirection, although she can not produce her own lightning.
At age 17, Eve received permission from her parents to travel to Republic City in order to seek higher education. There, she began study Astronomical Events as well as how to predict them. She has remained there ever since, although she send monthly letters to her parents in order to reassure them she's doing just fine. Name: Marcus Hawke Age: 36 Appearance: Marcus is a middle-aged man of average build for his 5'10" height. His skin is naturally light, but he's usually seen covered in soot. His arms have suffered a few burns from furnaces and have the scars to prove it. He also has a two-inch cut vertically over his left eye from a fight. Marcus usually wears his work outfit, simple brown pants and a white shirt with a heavy, brown apron over it. When he does go out and about, he usually has the same get up but replaces the apron for a brown leather coat. His hair is jet black and he usually has it slicked back. His face is rough with stress and age and has a constant five-o'clock shadow to compliment it. Occupation: Factory Worker Bending: Non-Bender Bio: Marcus started at the age of 18 in the factories of Future Industries and worked hard for them every day since, mostly to not fall into debt with his gambling addiction on pro-bending matches and card games. He rose from a simple line worker to more dangerous and higher paying jobs with the eventual hope to be overseeing employees and be an important part of the company. That hope was shattered when Sato hired Firebenders and Earthbenders to help around the furnaces with him. He couldn't keep up with their unnatural productivity as they used bending to do the job.
The last straw came when his hard work and dedication was ignored. He has constantly been passed up for promotions because he just couldn't keep up with the benders. More recently, he got in a fight with one of the fire benders that ended in Marcus getting cut with some sharp metal. He had enough of the benders and their superiority over him. He sought out the Purists to join their ranks. He was tired of being pushed around. He'd find the anti-bender gang and dedicate his life to them instead. Name: Syn Moria Age: 22 Appearance: Syn is an average build, if just slightly more muscular from her workouts, woman standing at 5'7". She has long, flowing blonde hair that, when not in her usual ponytail, reaches down to her back. Her skin is a healthy peach color and her eyes are bright blue with a sparkle like when the sun hits the ocean. She usually wears green "hot pants" and a white tanktop. She has taken to wearing footwraps instead of shoes. Occupation: Pro-Bender Bending: Earth Bio: Syn was raised to an average family in Republic City. Her father was a respected officer and her mother a successful healer. Her father loved the pro-bending tournaments and took Syn with him all the time. She took to the game quickly, calling out bad referees from the stands and talking about amazing plays and teams with her father over dinner. When she was 15, she joined a group of kids that secretly held bending matches after school. It was here that she learned a lot of her bending moves and her fighting style, the tradtional boxing style of pro-benders.
Her father eventually figured it out and add the group disbanded. From then on, she dedicated to getting on a pro-bending team so that it was not all for nothing. She constantly was turned down for teams, and spent much of her free time practicing the art of Seismic Sense. She caught a lucky break this year with a new team starting. She has yet to meet her sponser and team mates or anything, but she couldn't be more excited for her chance to get into the pro-bending circuit and show Republic City what she can do. Yep, he's been through some rough patches. And yeah, that was my hopes, he's not much of a fighter, just shares the Purist beliefs after being screwed over by benders. *Fixed a typo, not that it helps his image much. He only has the scar over his left eye, not both... @Script, Astarte, I was hoping I'd get some teammates. I picked Earth because it had the least amount of characters and its cool. | |

Appearance: Stands at about 5'9'', with emerald eyes, and straight chestnut hair, cut in a bob which she keeps a bit messy though it looks a bit more like a 'style' than a tangled mess. She has sharp features, and a bit of a stern look, but is usually found cheerful, and smiling. Her face is extremely emotive, and it is easy to read her like a book when her guard is down; hard, however, to read when she puts up an emotional wall, of is focused. Her skin is a light olive, and she has a small tattoo of a red, five point star occupying the space on the back of her right hand between her thumb and index finger. Despite her physical fitness she is more lanky than a meat head, with long limbs. She is a fan of loose fitting clothes, allowing her easy movement, mostly shorts, or baggy pants, and loose, sleeveless shirts. She mostly goes for sneakers in case she needs to move around, but likes slip-on's as well for something more casual. Occupation: Pro-Bender. Bending: Firebender. Bio: Something of a 'fading star' in the Pro-Bending scene. Gabriel's story starts in the slums of Republic City, where she grew up poor, using her talent for firebending to do a bit of street performance to bring some money back home. As she grew into her teenage years she began to play a bit of 'Street'-Bending, and found she had a natural talent. As the old tale goes, the poor kid from the streets got herself scouted and entered into what sport enthusiasts call a 'farm', a training program funded by team sponsors for talented nobodies to become better, the truly great ones go on to become stars.
At the age of seventeen, Gabriel was turned from an extremely talented, but otherwise rough and unrefined street rat into a true athlete. By eighteen she got onto the team, and won rookie of the year. By nineteen she hit her stride and led her team to the championship game, and won. By twenty-one she was on top of the world with three championship games to her name, and two wins, but during the tournament she sustained a knee injury, knocking her out of the game for the rest of that season, and the next. When she came back there was pressure for her to return to greatness, but she simply couldn't match the high expectations. Gabriel was slower, weaker, drawing penalties, and just couldn't get herself back into the swing of the game. Her decline was less than graceful, and she was dropped from her contract entirely when she got into a fight with an opposing team outside of the tournament, disqualifying her team.
While she had a bit of fame left, she didn't have much dignity, or respect. Worse yet, she didn't have much money either, Pro-Bending was all she knew, and after hospital bills, and her house, she was cutting through her championship winnings at an alarming rate. At twenty-five she began to train the same way she used to, with a new passion. She wasn't in it for the fame, not really, she just wanted another shot, another chance at greatness, to prove to herself that she was still a somebody. If she could end her career with a win, a final swan song, she figured she could take the winnings and open up a gym in her old neighborhood, and get kids into Pro-Bending and away from the gangs that preyed on the area.
Sadly, no one thought she was worth the risk. They said she was washed up, unreliable, and that her best days were behind her. After fighting for a spot anywhere, nothing happened and she wound up missing out on the season. Now, almost entirely broke, Gabriel sold her home and moved into a small apartment complex (with a certain pair of police officers as neighbors). Almost ready to just give up, and try to live her life out as a coach, or at least trainer in some minor team, Gabriel was offered a spot on an entirely new team. Seeing it as her last chance, Gabriel began training with the intensity of a young teenager, ready to make her mark on the sport.
Gabriel's long career as a Pro-Bender has left her with quite an arsenal of tricks, most notably Heat Redirection, and Jet Propulsion. She is also skilled at Lightning Generation, but more as an extension of her art of bending, and not for any practical application to her sport of choice. Items: Pro-Bending uniform, her apartment has a fairly robust, and competent gym set up, including weights, pull up bar, wooden dummy, jump rope, etc. Other: N/A.
