Old Ones Return

*Euryale lifts up the covers to look at the heavy layer of gauze applied to her side, & secured by wrappings around her torso. She then looks up.*

"We found Thiera...does that mean we won?"

Taiyo: "Yeah...We won."

Kylie:<They ran off when they saw we weren't quitting.>

E"Oh...that's good. Sorry...I wasn't much help."

Kylie;<No no, you were a ton of help. We couldn't have done it without you.>

Taiyo: "I bet you were more helpful than me."

"All I did was get stabbed."

A<You shouldn't fight. That's what the cards are for.>

"Don't be ridiculous, I can't leave you to fight alone."

A<Euryale...please, try to understand. I'm a Rookie, now. I don't need protecting. And it won't just be Rookies we have to face...Champions, maybe even Ultimates. You can't...they have weapons that can destroy buildings.>

"Are you saying...that I'm too weak to fight with you?"

Kylie:<You're the strongest person I've ever met, but..some digimon are just on a completely different level. Compared to humans.>

Taiyo: "I wasn't even there for most of it."

A<You can hurt Champions to some degree, but you just can't take their attacks. It's not about muscles, or speed. There's not much that can do when someone's breathing fire at you!>

*Euryale's face falls.*

A<This is why I didn't want to say anything...but I can't let you keep taking hits like that. If that Gabumon had struck a bit higher....>

"O-of course...you're right...I just...I can't...."

*DemiDevimon clears her throat from the ceiling, where she is hanging upside down.*

D<Not to rain on your pity party, but you're not dead, people actually came to see you, & we can probably get your D-Power fixed tomorrow. Enjoy it, damn you.>

Kylie:<There's still a lot you can do as a tamer, without fighting yourself.>

Taiyo: "Even if it can get fixed tomorrow, she might still be here."

T"That isn't likely. If she isn't in any immediate danger, they'll probably just want to keep her overnight, then send her away with a prescription for painkillers. The police might try to start an investigation, but Hypnos will be trying to take over the investigation as quickly as possible. Once they've asserted their jurisdiction, they'll probably just close the case, as there isn't really anything to investigate. If the Digimon had Bio-Emerged, they would know."

Kylie:<Then everything seems like it's going to work just fine.>

*Kylie smiles broadly*

<Once we get Euryale's digivice fixed I mean.>

Taiyo: "Oh. Okay."

*Euryale & Agumon exchange a glance, then turn their heads to address Thiera.*

E"About Hypnos...I think they have something bigger in mind. We found a microphone in my D-Power when it broke."

D<Ah, so that's what that "inspection" was about. I was wondering what they were up to when the things actually still worked. And Thiera said I was being too cynical.>

T"(Well, no one likes a show-off.)"

Taiyo: "Would whoever puts Euryale's back together put another one in?"

Kylie:<Wait what? Is that even legal?>

T"Well, if they did it the first time...."

D<What are you going to do if it isn't? Call your Emperor and complain about the Digimon-catching team spying on you through your alien machine from another dimension?>

Kylie:<You're right...>

*Kylie looks kind of embarrassed*

*At this point, the doctor comes back in. DemiDevimon flies out the window, & Agumon quickly dives under the bed.*

<Oh, you're awake. Good. How are you feeling?>

E"Fine."

<I hope you understand, we'll have to keep you over night. Just to make sure there were no complications in surgery.>

E"Right."

*She looks up.*

<Who opened this window?>

*Kylie stares down at her feet before speaking*

<It was me..I..I thought I heard someone shouting outside..I'm really sorry.>

*Kylie looks like she's about to cry*

Taiyo: "It's not likely something will go wrong, right?"

<It's just a sickness risk. Ms. Rakshashi's immune system is probably weakened, due to the loss of so much blood.>

*She strides over to shut the window.*

<Also, I'm afraid that visiting hours are over.>

Taiyo: "Five more minutes?"
