Year Two

Their covering burns, but the dark one doesn't falter.

Removing the rest of the black clothing they can see the machine gun mounted on his right arm more clearly. Surrounding him is an aura of sorts like the one Iron Duke has, although it's a darker purple, visible only due to the street lights. On his left hand is a gauntlet of sorts with a symbol they're not close enough to see on it and something else they can't quiet see around the gauntlet's wrist. The rest of his clothing is black from his sleeveless shirt to his pants sporting a belt with a silver buckle and boots. On his face is an elaborate opera mask concealing the top half while the bottom half is covered by a mask that could be a breathing apparatus.

???: "Your first mistake was making yourself known to the public. Your potential enemies have had plenty of time to prepare themselves should they care enough."

He looks over his shoulder to a mook who's still watching, holding out a hand.

???: "Grenade."

At the scebe, Grimm is very visible to anyone who cares as black does not blend in well at night as opposed to dark blues and greys, but no one cares enough to pay him any mind.

There isn't much for them to do as for once, the night is quiet. On their end of town at least.

Azuma: "Huh, looks like this project has the backing of the White House. This is likely some elaborate anti-mutant thing then."

After some more rummaging they don't find anything else of use and Azuma teleports them out.

*The bark sinks in, surrounding Thiera as armor. She then turns the leaves back into wings, flings out an arm, & tries to grab the machinegun with vines. Luna, meanwhile, charges at his flank with the intention of hitting him with an electrified spear.*

He relinquishes the machine gun which immedietley begins glow red hot, the vines catching fire. On his right hand is a gauntlet like the one on his left.

The mook gives him a grenade which he pulls the pin from and lobs at Thiera. The mook then draws a gun and fires at Luna.

Grimm suddenly darted forward and hurled a blast of flames the size of a fully grown man at the unknown figure. Once he had launched that attack, he drew his pistol from within his cassock and fired it three times at the mook.

Cameron:Let's head for the bad part of town.

*They do that*

*Thiera fires something at it that encases the grenade in a blob of green goo. The mechanism is jammed back up, & it will not explode. Meanwhile, the vines are replaced with new vines, with thick cuticles, & other fire-resistant properties. They begin to dismantle the gun as Thiera disconnects from them.*

T"Looks like you didn't do your research as well as you thought you did."

*Seeing the fireball, Luna jumps back. A vine jerks out & forms a wall of wood in front of her to help protect her from the blaze.*

The flames pass over his, the aura around his body intensifies and when they pass, he remains unscathed.

The machine gun glows bright red and explodes.

???: "I did plenty. Deploy Herbicide."

The mook is dead, but one is a small drop when there's a building full of them behind him and possibly elsewhere. Such as in the building across the street, behind Thiera.

A man that towers over the one they originally engaged steps out of the building. He can only be desceibed as an unwashed behemoth wearing only a ragged pair of sweats.

???: "You know your duty. Now fulfill it."

Herbicide grunts in affirmation and steps up to Thiera. ??? looks between Luna and Grimm.

???: "You'll be an easy enough conquest. You while new might proof to only be slightly more challanging than the human."

He touches his hands together so the tops of touching, his fingers hitting the symbol on his gauntlets. He stands motionless for a moment before his head snaps back and his whole body shivers.

???: "Let's dance."

As I was operating that they were on the east side, they are in the bad part of the city. At least the usually bad part.

On a rooftop they see two people who seemingly came from nowhere.

*They don't even bother to play this stupid game, Thiera runs towards Fuckface & Luna runs towards Herbicide, electrocuting him when she's close enough. Meanwhile, Thiera shoots a quick barrage of seeds at Fuckface to see what happens when they hit him.*

"Saint Micheal, Archangel, Divine Justice! Grant me the power!" Grimm bellowed and hurled another equally as large blast of fire at the man. Hardly skipping a beat and certainly not waiting to see if his fire had any effect, he emptied his pistol into him as well. The temperature surrounding him was climbing steadily upwards.

Bark covers Herbicide's skin, protecting him from the blast. He raises an arm and grunts like he's in pain and vines emerge from his skin, lashing out at Luna.

The seeds end up being burned up in the flames which have the same result as before. The bullets manage to do some harm, but rather than pierce his body, they get stuck part way unable to pierce his skin.

??? closes the gap between himself and Thiera in an instant striking her in the chest with his palm. Assuming she still has her bark armor, it absorbs most of the blow, but she still feels the brunt of it and the armor cracks where it was struck.

Having had enough of Grimm's shit, two mooks exit the main building, both armed with assualt rifles which they fire.

*Thiera restores the armor when she rights herself. She then casually tosses a snare of vines at ???. Meanwhile, Luna rolls & tases Herbicide again.*

Grimm dropped his pistol and dived to one side, unleashing another large blast of fire as he flew which would land on the mooks in an arc rather than a ball. As he landed and depending on whether he was wounded, he rolled and took his blade out from under his cassock, and the temperature sounding him hit 80C.

Eve:Jin, do you see them?

*Cameron drops Eve on the roof, picks up Jin and places her beside Eve, before flying over to check out the two people*

Herbicide's armor remains to protect him. The vines retract back into his arm, he grunts in pain as this happens. It turns to Luna and exhales a cloud of pollen.

??? rips any vines from his upper body and kicks Thiera over, the armor cracks again.

Inside the building, people scramble about relocating materials getting them out of the building via other methods such as sewer tunnels. Those not involved with the relocation effort set to dousing the rooms that are either cleared or cannot be cleared with gasoline or position themselves alone the upper floor windows to fire on those down below such as Grimm who takes a rifle slug to the shoulder of the arm his sword is in.

Azuma: "Looks like that giant bat from the news."

*Cameron lands near them*

<Um, hello there.>

Grimm pressed a hand to the wound and charged towards the building in a zig-zag pattern. Before he reached the doorway he threw fire into it, or if the doorway was opened, into the room beyond. The temperature around him was now at 100C, unbearable for anybody within 4 meters of him.

Jin watched suspiciously.

*Luna pays no heed to the pollen, as she's already added a filter & lenses to her mask. She has no recourse but to stab him, trying to break through the armor & electrocute him. Meanwhile, Thiera rejuvenates her armor & stands, again. The vines coil around his arm when he tries to throw them away.*

"You're wasting your time. If that barrier uses any kind of electromagnetic energy, the vines will adapt to photosynthesize from them. As long as your barrier is up, they'll just keep growing."

This only serves to ignite the gasoline dumped around the room.

???: "This certainly does put me at a disadvantage. But far from defeat."

He delivers another kick to Thiera.

The pollen that clings to Luna begins eating through her costume. The bark thickens resulting in Luna's blade getting caught.

Vines break through the bark on its arms, lashing out at Luna.

Azuma: "Now I don't feel so bad about my costume choice. Who are you three?"

Grimm stepped back and started throwing fire in randomly picked windows of the building, especially if he saw somebody moving behind one. At the same time he move sporadically and quickly to avoid being shot again.

"You tell us, you look a lot more suspicious," Jin said.

*She dodges, generating spikes on her fist, she punches at his breathing apparatus.*

"Not that far."

*While she does this, she waves a hand, dissolving Herbicide's plants. Luna had ducked, dug in her heels, & continued electrocuting him.*

"I don't know why you thought that could beat me."

Eve;<We are vigilantes, like you.>

Cameron:<I'm also apparently a giant bat. Nice to meet you guys.>

??? dodges. Meanwhile more of the building goes up, explosions coming from it.

???: "I'm not looking to defeat you quite yet. I'm just stalling."

Sirens wail in the distance.

Herbicide grunts until his body adapts and resists the electricity. He then takes a swing at Luna, thorns bursting from his fist.

Azuma: "Yeah, sure."

Eve:<It seems pretty quiet tonight.>

"But to stall, you need to have time. And you don't. Your time is all used up, & now I'm taking you in."

*The vines rapidly grow to restrict his arm, legs, & other arm, should he try to take them off somehow. Meanwhile, Luna backs off, turns her spear around, & slams the back end into Herbicide's throat.*

Satisfied with his handiwork and thinking that any more gunners would be trying to get out by now, Grimm turned and charged towards ???. As he came towards them they would feel the temperature hit 100C.
"Thrust them to Hell!" He roared as he switched the blade to his left hand and swept it towards the neck of ???. "Amen!"

"So, um... are there many?" Jin asked. "Vigilantes I mean... out around here."
