Old Ones Return (III)

Taiyo: "Renamon will be around. And Hitomi lives in the same building as me if she's going home. Unless you're going with Azuma."

Hitomi shakes her head.

Hitomi: "I will walk you home."

*Thiera stops walking.*

"Oh...well...alright...if that's...how you feel...."

Taiyo looks confused by Thiera's words on top of being upset already. It's a pretty horrible combination.

Taiyo: "Sorry..."

Salamon: "Why don't you all just walk home together?"

*Cameron stops, but doesn't get involved*

"I'm sorry, I just didn't know...uh...sorry."

*She resumes walking.*

*(Cameron follows Thiera awkwardly*

The others follow a few steps behind.

*Thiera cannot bring herself to speak the rest of the way.*

*Neither does Cameron or Biyomon*

Apparently everyone walks in uncomfortable silence.

*The next day once again finds Taiyo & Thiera in Euryale's room, & everyone else in Kylie's.*

*Cameron and his parents are waiting for the doctor to give them an update, while Lunamon and Biyomon watch a movie on Mrs. Sorenson's laptop*

Taiyo sits by Euryale's bedside, trying not to cry this time.

Hitomi arrives with Azuma in tow, the latter looking like he didn't sleep much.

Azuma: "Is she really...?"

"That's...what they say...."

*Meanwhile, DemiDevimon flies off of Thiera's shoulder & perches on Euryale's arm, squinting at Botamon, who has been asleep since at least as long as they came in.*

*The chick doctor pokes her head in.*

<Is everything alright in here?>

Azuma: "Oh...I'm sorry, Taiyo."

Taiyo: "Sorry won't bring her back."

Azuma stares at the floor, cringing from the venom in Taiyo's words.

This is my punishment.

Mrs. Sorenson:<Yes. We were wondering if there's anything new...>

<I'm afraid we've told you all that we know, and are unlikely to learn more. It's just that none of us have ever heard of a condition where a person literally sleeps for days, as opposed to going into a coma. It's almost as though something is preventing her circadian rhythm from restarting.>

"So...it's tomorrow, isn't it?"

Mr. Sorenson:<I thought you would say that.>

Cameron:<So...what's going to happen to her?>

Taiyo: "I don't want to think about it."

<In my professional opinion, she'll either wake up at some point, or simply continue to sleep for the rest of her life. But if that persists for too long, then her muscles will atrophy, & she won't develop properly. She may lose some verbal or motor skills, or even memories.>

<We'll have to face it soon. Now I think Botamon has it, too.>

"I...I might not get a chance to say this again. I'm really sorry, for everything. We...abandoned you."

Mrs. Sorenson:<So all there is to do is wait.>

*She crosses her arms. Cameron walks over to the down*

<I'm going to go check on the others.>

*He exits and heads over to Euryale's room, knocking on the door*

Azuma goes to open the door.

Taiyo: "But what if there's a chance she'll get better? Stranger things have happened before."

<I don't know much about humans, but from what Thiera told me, she'd need a miracle. My magic isn't strong enough. A higher celestial or a Sovereign might be able to do something, I don't really know.>

<I'm afraid so. We are attempting treatments, of course, but she isn't responding to any of them.>

*Cameron enters and stands by the bed*

Mrs. Sorenson:<Well, thank you for trying anything you can.>

Azuma closes the door.

Azuma: "Higher celestial?"

He sets Patamon down who Digivolves to Angemon then MagnaAngemon.

Azuma: "Can you do anything?"

MagnaAngemon: "I've never used any non-offensive abilities since being able to obtain this form."

Azuma: "Try it."

MagnaAngemon approaches Euryale and places a glowing hand over her, light covering her body.

MagnaAngemon: "Heaven's Heal."
