*She texts Nero and Astarte*

Just checking in with you two. Is everything alright?

Azuma: "Or they're on the recieving end of some bad things."

*So she checks his heart rate & breathing with a freezing cold stethescope.*

<Well, your vitals sound elevated, but normal.>

L"We'll know when we get back to the hotel, I guess."

*Nero moves to grab Roatha around the neck, but Roatha just bites him in the throat, like an animal. Astarte can see blood spurting out from between the teeth as his eyes bulge & he gasps. When he lets go, Nero falls to the ground, before clutching his throat & edging towards the wall. Roatha aims a kick in Vanessa's stomach when she moves in to try to do something or other. She drops the pepper spray, which hits the desk & starts rolling towards the edge, not that Astarte will have an easy time grabbing it. Dr. Schreiber darts towards the desk, but unlocks the door first.*

*Eve stretches and puts away her phone*

<We'll be in touch.>

Astarte pulled with all her little might to try and free at least one hand and grab for the pepper spray while kicking desperately with no particular target.

"My vision was going, I could see things in the corners!" Stefan insisted. "I've been having episodes like this for a few days now."

Azuma: "We'll be eagerly awaiting your call."

Nurse<This seems more psychological. I can refer you to a specialist, if you'd like.>

L"Alright, we'll be back as soon as we can."

*Lilith opens the door & starts heading out.*

*She kicks Roatha & is able to get her hand free as his leg sags. Dr. Schreiber gets a hol of the pepper spray.*

R"You BITCH!"

*He drags Astarte across the desk, tossing her into Vanessa before crossing his arms in front of his face to shield his eyes. He then promptly kicks the desk over on top of Dr. Schreiber.*

R"Why'd you wait so long to open the door, Doc?!"

Astarte separated herself from Vanessa as quickly as possible and searched frantically for some kind of stabbing or cutting implement.

"No, no!" Stefan shook his head vigorously. "Aren't there more tests you could do? I want another opinion, like from a doctor, please... I just feel like I'm dying here!"

*Eve follows, looking around for anything weird in the hallway outside*

*As the desk fell over, the drawers came askew, depositing folders, papers, & pens everywhere, not to mention her laptop & accessories. One object of particular interest is a letter opener, but of course Roatha shifts to stand on it.*

R"We both know--you--"

*Schreiber heaves the desk off of her, making a ton of noise. Roatha braces himself so he's not knocked over. She jumps back before aiming to spray him. He lifts his arms & leans back, but despite this, a cloud of reddish gas develops near his head & his eyes begin to tear up. Still holding his throat, Nero tries to drag himself to the door with 1 arm, leaving a blood smear behind him. He doesn't get very far before he starts coughing, spraying drops of vitae in front of him. He's looking even paler than usual.*

*Some cops are watching them at the end of the hall. Lilith begins walking briskly to the lobby.*

<Hey!>

*She decides fuck this conversation & starts running. Having just emerged from the room, Thiera looks around, bewildered, & follows.*

*She frowns at him kind of angrily.*

<I'll go get Dr. Jack-El.>

Astarte snatched up a pen- removing the lid if necessary- and darted towards Roatha keeping low and tried to drive it into his leg right above the kneecap.

"Thanks," Stefan offered absently, looking around the room like he could see spiders coming out of the walls.

*Eve follows behind Lilith and Thiera, staring at the ground*

Their plans can't get anymore retarded, so why not run from police like a couple of felons.

*It's a normal ballpoint pen, & therefore not even sharp enough to go through his pants. Roatha turns slightly to knee her in the stomach, at which point Dr. Schreiber withdraws the gun.*

R"Hah, you won't shoot. Not until you think you can get away with it."

*She steps forward to swing the weapon at his head. Nero continues wheezing.*

*Eventually, the doctor comes in, repeating the line about checking his breathing & heart rate.*

<Hey, stop!>

*Of course, instead of stopping, they reach the lobby & exit the building.*

Th"Are they chasing us?! What do we do now?!"

L"Campus is this way!"

*So she turns, ducking behind some cars & heading for the road.*

*Instead of following, the cops enter Tirea's & Azuma's room. One is the fat cop, the other is a pale stick of a guy with a gaunt face & blue eyes.*

Slim<You okay in here? We saw some kids acting suspicious, but they bolted before we could ask any questions.>

Astarte rolled away with her arms around her stomach, wheezing after having her breath knocked out of her. She looked up and scrambled towards Nero, oblivious to the results of Schreiber's actions.

Stefan complied.

*Tirea blinks, looking confused*

Tirea:<Huh? Oh Yeah, they don't mean any harm.>

Azuma: "Good thing too. They could be long gone and we could be the first of many corpses."

*And so the same procedure is repeated.*

Doctor<Hm, I agree with the nurse, this looks like a job for a psychologist.>

*She gets to Nero about in time for him to pass out. Without the ability to consciously apply pressure to his wound, blood starts spurting out, albeit in a relatively weak spray. As Roatha blocks Schreiber's arm, she & Vanessa back off. Though his eyes are starting to swell shut, the table is right in front of him & his doubled strength has not subsided, so he flips the desk, prompting them to hit the ground.*

Fat<We've got a lot of hospital to watch, kid. Let's head back out, Slim.>

*Fortunately, they do not have to wait long to cross the street. This indeed puts them on an expanse of grass that includes several sports fields--track to their left, soccer & tennis to their right. Beyond this is a sort of oblong brick building, a sign reading "gymnasium."*

Eve:<Lilith, are you taking us somewhere in particular? We do have several hours to kill.>

*Tirea turns around and pretends to go to sleep*

Astarte slapped her hands over Nero's wound and pressed down firmly, looking over her shoulder at Ira.

"Are you going to just turn me away?"

L"Apparently, we have to buy a pair of cell phones. Plus we should eat. It's already 2 o'clock."

*And so the cops head out.*

*Roatha holds his eyes open, kicking Vanessa in the ribs. Something cracks & she rolls over, coughing. Dr. Schreiber kicks his leg out from under him & flips the desk on top of him, but struggles as he pushes back.*

R"Give up! This won't mean anything if you're too weak to subdue me & too afraid to shoot!"

*Astarte can feel the warm, sticky fluid covering her palms & seeping through her fingers. It's more difficult to feel Nero's breathing &, when he does, it's irregular & shallow.*

Astarte took a hand off of the wound and went into Nero's pockets looking for his pocket knife.

"No!" Stefan jumped to his feet and reached out, stopping just short of grabbing the doctor's throat and then pulling back to grab clumps of his own hair. "No!"

Eve:<We could eat at the cafeteria. It should be safe enough right now.>

L"If you mean the campus cafeteria, sure."

*And now she has a pocket knife.*

R"How 'bout we finish this today?"

*Roatha makes a weird clicking noise with his tongue & the door handle turns. Once it's open, the crawling monster drops to its feet & starts, well, crawling inside, making its own clicking noises. Vanessa of course points her pepper spray at it, but it raises its arm, withdrawing its wing to protect its face.*

*He slowly raises his hands & backs up.*

Astarte rushed towards the monster which presumably couldn't see her coming and tried to bring the knife down on the back of its neck.

"I can't leave!"
