Old Ones Return (VI)

Sakuyamon jumps up at Megidramon and envelopes its head in fire.

Angewomon fires at the D-Reaper Agents while Cyberdramon hacks at the Gizumon.

*The D-Reaper agents dodge to the side where "Bubbles" blasts at Angewomon with its arm cannons while "Pendulum Feet" slashes with its scythes. With Sakuyamon's help, Wargreymon is able to tornado out of Megidramon's grip. She starts forming a Terra Force, but is blasted away by Megidramon's bellow, causing her to hit a mountain & fall into a crevasse with a bunch of rocks. Tactimon jumps onto a more stable patch of rock, evading Dianamon.*

Tactimon<The ground is becoming unstable! Regress to Ultimate!>

Megidramon<Are you crazy!? They'll make mincemeat out of me!>

Tactimon<Not with proper strategy!>

T"Look out! Behind you!"

*Thiera points up to the Gizumon & Paildramon that have appeared within the storm, firing at Varudoromon with lasers, arm cannons, & Desperado Blasters. Despite a few being obliterated by lightning strikes, the others don't care, & press their attack. On the ground, Daemon rises & launches fireballs at Cybedramon & Angewomon. Just when all seems lost, some of the mountain range crumbles, creating a pass to Venusmon's Sanctuary.*

*Datamon & MadLeomon lead everyone to Venusmon's temple, where MadLeomon pulls her statue away, revealing a tunnel beyond.*

Mrs. Rakshashi<Isn't that the 1st place they'll think to look--uhh, Mr. Lion?>

ML<That's why we destroy the exit behind us.>

Data<Unfortunately, we cannot salvage the Sanctuary. But we are capable of recreating it, in time.>

Mrs. Rakshashi<Unacceptable! Do you expect us to leave without our children!?>

ML<They buy you time. I buy them time. Teamwork.>

Data<We will do our utmost to see that all nonhostile individuals are salvaged & reunited. However, for the present, we must evacuate in the most efficient & expedient manner possible.>

The two dodge and weave around the blasts. Hideki grants Cyberdramon Darkness Wave to attack the D-Reaper Agents while Angewomon fires an arrow at a Gizumon.

While Megidramon is going on about things, Sakuyamon jumps into the sky and dropkicks a bitch like lightning.

*Varodurumon uses Aurora Undulation on its attackers*

*After being nailed in the face, Megidramon's tail coils around Sakuyamon's foot. Tactimon does his best to deflect the arrow upward. Varudoromon's attackers fly higher to evade, while lightning strikes around the bird. Cyberdramon destroys "Bubbles" but "Pendulum Feet" slashes Angewomon's torso in the meantime, & she's also struck by that fire blast. Daemon then lets loose a stream of fire at both of them. Finally, WarGreymon tornado's out of its hole, forming a Terra Force.*

<"Yes! We're supposed to be escaping, remember!">

*From the mountain pass comes Venusmon, dusting rubble off of herself.*

*A woman in a white dress with blond hair that's tied at the end steps forward, hands clasped to her chest.

Blond woman<But we haven't even SEEN Thiera since the escape! What's happened to her?!>

*Her presumed husband, who wears a blue suit, puts an arm around her shoulder & nods.*

*How the fuck they evade something moving at the speed of light is unknown. Anyway, Dianamon spins and slashes at Tactimon*

Dianamon:<Venusmon!?>

Cyberdramon attacks Pendulum Feet with Darkness Wave.

Sakuyamon throws a talisman at Megidramon.

If Azuma weren't holding Patamon, he'd be tearing his hair out.

Azuma: "The angel in armor was Thiera."

OOC: They didn't "evade," they moved back to take cover in the clouds, which is doable because Varudoromon can't be invincible, Harley's claims notwithstanding.

*No idea why she's spinning, but she cracks his sword sheath & knocks him down. He then swings his sword, sending a tornado in her general direction. Cyberdramon destroys Pendulum Feet, but it isn't long before Daemon's flames de-digivolve him & Angewomon. WarGreymon throws Terra Force at him, which he grabs with his own flaming hands.*

Venusmon<I have come to show you the way to safe lands.>

*She gestures to the pass.*

Venusmon<Which I have opened with my own hands.>

*Sakuyamon's talisman strikes Megidramon in the chest & Sakuyamon's familiar purple flames begin to circle the Digimon like chains, sealing its mouth shut & tying it into a ball. Of course, Megidramon doesn't take this lying down, & is trying to tear itself out. The light emerging from its Digital Hazard grows brighter. As the storm clouds grow & the Paildramon Hybrids keep firing at it, Varudoromon flies closer to the ground, continuing to blast projectiles out of the sky.*

Data<The phenomenon of 'Biomerge Digivolution' involves a ratio of one part human & one part Digimon. When all parties' data has been synchronized to the same wavelength, with the assistance of the proper, albeit poorly understood catalyst, their synthetic proteins are capable of fusing together on a molecular level in order to produce a Mega-level Digimon. Mr. Aqua<While we're on the subject, what is this giant turtle walrus thing we're standing under?>

Data<--even more powerful than the Mega level. While the phenomenon of "Mode Shift," in which a Digimon's data reformats to a form of the same level with different capabilities, is common knowledge-->

*Zudomon starts blurring as if the TV needs adjusted.*

Data<This form has some differences from a typical mode change. For example-->

Strikedramon & Gatomon try to land in a manner that isn't awful. Meanwhile, Sakuyamon works on trying to get out of Megidramon's hold.

*Dianamon flies around the tornado and fires an Arrow if Artemis at his chest. Varodurumon keeps doing what it's doing*

*Datamon's eyes & head start flashing red. Mr. Rakshashi gets ready to maybe punch it & the rest of the parents job.*

Data<File "Expositionmon" not found. Expedient elaboration requested. Please indicate target's position & hostility level.>

*Zudomon takes advantage of this opportunity to glow white & shrink down to Ikkakumon.*

*Sakuyamon is able to easily free herself. WarGreymon is shocked when the fire on Daemon's hands glows bright purple & he is able to throw the Terra Force back at her. She tries to quickly generate another in order to use it as a shield. Dianamon is unable to get around the vortex fast enough & is sent flying, but there's now an arrow sticking out of Tactimon's chest. Venusmon steps up to the Gizumon beginning to circle Varudoromon.*

Venusmon<Once you were smiling Digimon....now only cursed automatons.>

*When they start charging their lasers, she grabs one's arm & uses it as a flail, smashing the 2 next to it with a side-to-side sweep & leaping over Varudoromon. Smashing through another Gizumon's eye with her foot, it flails around underneath her as she crushes the rest of them with her Gizumon flail. She then uses both feebly twitching Gizumon to shield against the Paildramon blasts.*

Venusmon<You can't afford to wait. They will overcome you at this rate.>

*Even as she speaks, more holes open in the sky, the silhouettes & glowing red eyes of various Gizumon & other unidentifiable Digimon peeking out. Adding to the danger, red lightning strikes the mountaintops as if it were rain & more of the ground begins to collapse, with lava billowing out of the chasms.*

Sakuyamon jumps up and engulfs Megidramon in purple-blue fire.

Azuma: "Uh....never mind."

*Dianamon tries to stable herself before firing another arrow at the same place. Then she begins to walk back towards the break*

<Come on everyone!>

*Unfortunately, WarGreymon is blasted away by her own Terra Force. Fortunately, she is blasted outside of the area created by Tactimon. Varudoromon follows. As the light around it begins to fade, Thiera & Cameron have a close call with some of the Desperado Blasts that pierce through. By this point, Venusmon has grabbed Daemon's hands & forced him to the ground, whereupon her bird pecks him in the head & causes him to go limp, though she sustains burned & blackened hands in the process. With a swipe from Tactimon's sword, the shockwave reduces the bird to feathers & cuts a gash in Venusmon's shoulder. She responds by blowing a kiss, which causes him to fall over.*

Megidramon<Kill--you--!>

*Megidramon's bonds begin to snap as it stretches out. When it can open its mouth a little, it blows a stream of flame at Sakuyamon. Gizumon descend to retrieve Daemon & Tactimon, as the last of the ground is beginning to collapse into lava. As well, the tears in the sky expand & grow together, & as they do so, Sakuyamon is treated to the strange sight of the circuitry that makes up the space between the human & Digital worlds--& the hundreds of Gizumon & Converted Digimon that dwell within.*

*WarGreymon had landed in the water, smoking, armor pulverized, face plate half-melted, & missing her Brave Shield & claws.*

<"Taiyo...Renamon....">

*A giant, red anemone forms under her, ferrying her to Venusmon's sanctuary.*

Ts"Come on! We've gotta GO!"

Sakuyamon erects a shield while Hitomi, Hideki and their partners get the hell out of dodge.

Azuma: "That....yeah."

*Dianamon follows WarGreymon, moving across the river. I suppose Varodurumon crosses as well, likely degrading*

*Lyra does the same with her parents, while the Sorensons follow, looking over their shoulders for their children*

*So Thiera, Cameron, DemiDevimon, & Biyomon end up in a heap on a single giant flower. As they float away, they see Venusmon beset on all sides by blasts. She clasps her hands & bows her head as her digital flesh is blown away into bits of data & finally her digital wire skeleton implodes forcefully. Ever relentless, the enemy loads her data. Then, with a loud boom that shakes the entire valley, the area flares up like a dying star, with an expanding flash of blinding white light that threatens to overtake them, before it abruptly shrinks back & collapses into a black hole, sucking the spiraling data of the surrounding grasslands into it.*

"TAIYO!"

*On another flower, Euryale is trying to dive into the water, but Agumon is doing his best to hold her back by her waist, digging in his heels & gritting his teeth. On the other shore is Ikkakumon, who gapes at the scene in shock.*

"Let me go!"

A<There's nothing you can do! We have to keep going!>

G<Is...is she...?>

*Fortunately, that mess swallowed up anyone who might have tried to follow them.*

*As luck & plot convenience would have it, she isn't. However, she's not in a very good place, as she finds herself stuck in the space between worlds with all of these monsters, as well as a spiral of data connecting a glowing white hole in the "sky" to a glowing white hole in the "ground." The monsters have her loosely surrounded in a 360 degree field, presenting her with a choice--try to fight her way past them to the nearest pillar of data, a couple hundred feet away, or try to enter the new one that seems to be forming next to her. Either way, she'd better make up her mind fast, 'cause they're all a chargin' their lazahs.*

Mrs. Psyche<What was that?>

ML<More proof we need to leave now.>

*So, with a final glance back, the Psyches & the Rakshashis reluctantly follow the Aquas into a scary dark tunnel.*

Mrs. Aqua<Does anyone have a light?>

*Right on cue, Datamon heads in, a flashlight in his eye clicking on to reveal that the tunnel is still scary but also boring, being made of featureless, relatively smooth blue rock. It's just big enough for most Champion Digimon to go through in single file. MadLeomon lopes to the front of the line, making everyone he brushes past shiver.*

*Cameron and Biyomon look back as well*

Biyomon:<Taiyo...>

*Dianamon degrades to Kylie and Lunamon. Tears stream down Kylie's face*

Hideki & Hitomi are presumably still fleeing the scene.

They head for the nearest data stream.

A dark haired male in a collared shirt and black pants and a glasses wearing blond in a skirt and blouse look back at the destruction.

Mrs. Shizuka: "Was Hideki out there?"

Azuma: "He'll be fine. They'll all be fine."

*Ikkakumon leads everyone to the tunnels to unite with the rest of the group. Thiera is sniffling & trying to rub the streams of tears from her eyes, DemiDevimon is rolled up into a ball on her shoulder, & Euryale & Agumon each have a kind of Thousand Yard Stare going.*

E"...Are they up ahead? My parents, I mean."

Mr. Rakshashi<There's 1 thing I don't get...Euryale told me that there were people attacking Digimon, not the other way around. So why were those Digimon attacking you?>

*Sakuyamon is now floating in a distant expanse of darkness with the only sign of the data stream that she came from being a loose cloud of data bits, which also offers the only dim, red light. It's unclear if this is an improvement. Though apparently her entrance to this realm still exists, because in a pop & a flash of light, a "Paildrabomination" & a Gizumon emerge.*

Lyra:<They're digimon slaves controlled by Kurata.>

*Kylie, who is also crying, gives Thiera a hug, while Cameron stares at the wall as the walls. Biyomon and Lunamon hold their respective partners' hands*

Sakuyamon sics fox spirits on the Gizumon.

Azuma: "Other than the one's that become Digimon. It's different than when--"

He points at someone that can Biomerge.

Azuma: "They do it."

Mr. Rakshashi<What are you talking about?>

E"Some of Kurata's soldiers can turn into Digimon. I don't think you saw it yet."

*Mrs. Rakshashi & Mrs. Psyche rush to hug their daughters, then back up.*

Mrs. Rakshashi<Honey, what's wrong? Is it--did something happen to that nice girl you were dating? She isn't here, is she?>

*Euryale shakes her head as her mother looks around.*

E"I don't know where she is or if she's okay. But we can't do anything about it until we get away from the Kurata's forces."

*Mrs. Rakshashi hugs her daughter again. Once again, Mrs. Psyche repeats.*

*As resilient as the Gizumon are, it is unable to take a point blank shot from a Mega & shatters into pieces. Of course, the Pieldrabomination absorbs its data & heads in to strike with various blades, but before it can reach her, something shoots out of the darkness. Barely visible by the glow of the data, it appears to be some kind of claw attached to a helix-shaped chain. It grabs the converted Digimon & drags it back down into the void. As more & more Gizumon & D-Reaper-mon show up, they meet the same fate, with dozens of claws darting out of nowhere & dragging them into oblivion. Thus far, Sakuyamon has been spared this fate, but the claws are getting closer & closer to her.*

*Kylie runs towards to her parents, while Cameron moves a bit more slowly*

Mr. Sorenson:<Glad you're both fine. Who's missing?>

Cameron:<Euryale's girlfriend and her partner.>

Lyra:<We better move. While we can.>

Hideki seems almost frightened by his parents being there given the state his home was in when he first encountered Hypnos.

Mrs. Shizuka: "Hideki, what's wrong?"

Hideki: "It's....it's. I'm sorry you got involved in this."

He looks down at the ground as if trying not to cry.
