Some of those comments are too easily impressed. The words "genius," "skill," & "master manipulator" are being thrown around. Fortunately, there are also a lot of skeptical comments. I've seen a lot point out that this is used car salesman level rhetoric, & on another thread people tore up that Sharia Pew Survey that Islamophobes like to misquote.

This article explains to me the curious trend of the term "empowerment" becoming popular among people who are vitriolically against feminism.

I think the idea of empowerment lost all meaning when news outlets like Elite Daily churn out articles about getting a septum piercing or some shit is empowering.

That's basically what the article is about. The term "empowerment," as people use it, has lost all meaning because instead of referring to a transfer of societal power, it's invariably used as one or more of the following:

1. A marketing ploy.

2. A form of justifying things that would ordinarily be considered exploitation.

3. A method of stifling conversation.

4. A way of patting people on the back for their individual opinions & decisions, simply for having them.

I didn't even read the article as the content could have been seen a mile away. Never read the Elite Daily article I referenced as the headline was off putting as is.
