Heathen Frolic

*Hitomi fires a lightning bolt at it.*

Ingrid, once again preempted, waits to see how the lightning spell works before doing any spell casting of her own.

*Again, the lightning bolt illuminates the room & it doesn't seem like there's a giant monster in there. Similarly, Ark doesn't manage to steal anything at all & his health doesn't increase.*

Unsure whether the lighting worked or now, Ingrid sighs, and launches a water spell, "Lets see what this does."

*Hitomi steps back away from the monster and doesn't do anything further.*

"Am I the only one who notices that it's obviously an illusion?"

"Yet you attacked it."

"If you noticed that it would have been smart to say so rather than waste time and magic attacking something when we could be doing something more important, like reaching Yojimbo." Ingrid shook her head, slightly annoyed, "Shall we go, or will you continue to amuse yourself while we attack parlor tricks?"

"Well, I didn't know at FIRST, but after a bright light showed us 3 times that nothing was there, I sort of pieced it together."

*The monster sprouts bones out of various points of its body & the gooey flesh begins twisting around them, reshaping itself. Eventually, its color changes to a perfect match of Luna.*

<So what if you're being attacked by illusions? The attacks are real, & you still have no idea where the monster itself is!>

*"Luna" forms a spear of energy in her hand & hurls it at the team.*

"Don't let it get anywhere NEAR you!"

*Hitomi casts Protect on herself then runs off so there's someone who's further away from the illusion in front of her. Someone like Ingrid.*

Ingrid cast Reflect on herself and got the hell out of the blast zone as fast as she could. "What the hell, it can mimic your moves?! How?!" Ingrid asked, casting Lighting again, this time in conjunction with Scan, hoping that in the brief instance when the illusion was gone she would be able to find where the actual aggressor was.

*Unfortunately, the result is that the Scan spell tells her all about her own lightning attack. But she does find such interesting tidbits as the fact that it takes half a second to form, but only a thousandth of one to strike & that the flash is equal to 10 times the actual blast radius. The only one the resulting explosion doesn't harm is Ingrid. Groaning, Luna pulls herself off of the floor.*

"Well, not perfectly, I guess...that was definitely a spell, not a true Overdrive."

The naturally curious Ingrid gladly takes the trade off. "Hey, did you guys know that a lightning flash is equal to ten times the blast radius?" Ingrid asked smiling. Noticing that Luna was pulling herself off the floor, Ingrid pulled her mind back into the fight, "You're right, that is what I thought it was," Ingrid cast Reflect on the entire party. "I would be a bit more helpful if I had Shell, but that is the best I can do as a Black mage." She said, turning her attention back to the fake Luna.

*Amusingly enough, Ingrid is now out of MP. Out of the chamber, there's a left path, a right path, & a straight path.*

*Hitomi stares at the pathways pointing at one then another and continues to do so for a minute or so.*

[Eeny, meeny, miny, moe, catch a tiger by the toe. If it hollers, let him go, eeny meeny, miny, moe.]

*She stops at the center path and begins to go down it.*

Ingrid uses the Ether she has on her. "Now that I have some MP again, lets see where I should go." Seeing Hitomi take the center path Ingrid decides not to follow, center seeming a bit too easy of a choice. "I'll go right." Ingrid told herself, quickly getting away from the fake Luna, and any attack it might try.

~Right~

*Ingrid ends up at a dead end. Worse yet, some pyreflies manifest into a Monolith at the other end, which begins to creep towards her. Luna runs up to it, slashing it from the other side. Her valor is rewarded by the monster turning & viciously slashing her stomach before returning to its slasher stalking of Ingrid.*

~Center~

*As Hitomi runs, she sees a large snake-like Fiend slithering down the path, its mouth wide open to consume her.*

*Hitomi backs away, an ice crystal bursting from the ground in front of the snakes head.*

*The serpent turns out to be an illusion & disperses. Up ahead is a chamber that's only slightly smaller than the one Hitomi just came through.*

*Hitomi continues onward to the chamber.*

[Is anything not an illusion?]

OOC: I had forgotten about this. Just fought it in FFIX.

*Ark runs down the center path.*

OOC: Hectaeyes has NOTHING on this, tentacle hentai inspired monster from IX.

Ingrid sighed, "Dammit, dead end." She said coming to a stop. "Hey wait, what is that?" She asked as she peered deeper into the cave. As the monster formed Ingrid took a step back, "What the crap is that?" As if that was some magical summoning chant Luna came from behind Ingrid and was quickly slashed down. "Luna!" Ingrid called out. "Dammit, I'm not a white mage, I'll have to kill this before doing anything to help her, or I'll most likely get cut down as well." She quietly thought out loud. Ingrid took a few steps back and sent out a fire spell quickly.

*Luna casts slow on it & it recoils from the fire.*

*The chamber at the end of the center path turns out to be an antechamber, of sorts. They can see a room full of pyreflies beyond, with Yojimbo's Fayth statue at the center.*

OOC: That's not a red flan with many eyes. Also, it has nothing on the Hectaeyes? You can kill a Stroper by using a Soft on it, dude.

*Ark runs up to Hitomi.*

Ark: <Hum... hey there.>

*He looks ahead at the Fayth in the other room.*

Ark: <We need to go get Luna.>

"We?"
