City of Amnesia

*She tries her best to swim to the surface while staring at the sunken blocks over her shoulder.*

*They arrive back at the station without incident.*

*Vega wakes up to find that he'd fallen out of the tower somehow.*

T"I don't know. Just go with it."

*There's a sound from behind them as though something's coming down the tracks.*

T"Ahh. That'll be the lift for the Megadeus."
=========================================
*He looks from her to his cigarrette as though thinking of putting it out on her face. Then he sighs grumpily, throws it down, stomps it out, & enters the store.*
=========================================
*On the surface, she finds that she can barely see the shore. She must be miles out to sea. And no one knows for sure what kinds of things live in the deep ocean, but there are rumors about sea dragons & giant squid.*

"Lift, what lift?" Zell asked, looking back and forth, swinging her flash light to and fro, but still a bit shaken by having a megadues come to life in front of her.

*Vega stands up shaking any sand out of his pant legs then his hair.*

[That should've killed me.]

*Hitomi enters the store and begins browsing.*

*She widens her eyes and looks around a couple times to see if anyone else is nearby before starting to swim towards the shore.*

[Dammit, what is going on?]

*A structure larger than Thiera's car slows to a stop nearby. It looks like a set of movable pipes on hydraulics that are in turn on a motorized set of train wheels.*

T"I designed it to be able to adapt to any large, unwieldy shape, IE a Megadeus. And because they use up so few resources, I can afford to make a veritable army of them."

*Pipes extend from the machine & begin dragging the newly freed Megadeus onto it, latching around its body & securing it.*

*Topaz suddenly has a flash of memory. She remembers something she's pretty sure didn't happen in her childhood: Being told a story of a dragon being fought & imprisoned in a sunken city in the Southern Sea.*

*She stops swimming and sinks her head back into the water to stare at the sunken section of the city for a few seconds.*

[...What?]

*She then shakes it off and resumes swimming towards the shore.*

Zell finally points the flash light in the right direction and lets out a sigh. "Ah, so, is this the first Megadues you've found?"

T"Yes. Judging from the design, I surmise that it's a drill. However, it could easily be adapted into a weapon."

L"Is that why you decided to excavate it?"

T"Lilith R. Psyche, I'm shocked! I thought you knew me better by now. When I go looking for something, I have no less than 10 possible scenarios in mind for what I'll need it for. Come on, let's go home."

*She gets in the driver's seat of her car.*

*Of course she'll never make that, but fortunately the coast guard sent a boat out to get her. She meets it after swimming about 50 feet. They pull her out of the water & hand her a towel.*

*She takes the towel and immediately starts using it to dry her hair, staring at the water.*

[What was that... that story...?]

Zell smiles and shakes her head as she gets into the back of the car. "I'm impressed, if this is all in a day's work, then I think I chose the wrong line of work."

*Vega sits under Gelu Chalybs out of the sun.*

[I wonder if it would be safe to use this thing to try and move the sand from in front of that door.]

*Hitomi looks about a shelf of books about lunar phases. Under her arm is a presumably awful romance novel that is oddly enough not archaeology themed, and a fair sized book about dinosaurs.*

OOC: Since Harley's dicking around, I can't timeskip to the next day.

*They emerge from the tunnel.*

T"So, is there anything in particular you girls want to do today?"

"Whatever you want to do. I'm pretty easy to please." Zell said, looking from the window to Thiera.

*Deciding whatever idea he thought would be pointless and time consuming, he boarded the Megadeus, fired it up and went back to town becausing dying in the desert would suck.*

[Not a great plan, but I'm out of a job and jobs are nice.]

*Hitomi purchases her books, finds something at the local grocery store for dinner, goes about her day and concludes it by falling asleep in bed curled up with a plush snow leopard.*

T"All right, we'll head back, then. Lilith & I have to get to work on the Megadeus."

*As he approaches the city, he remembers the problem that led him to the desert in the first place: Nowhere to put the robot & the military is targeting it &, presumably, its pilot.*

*Gelu Chalybs stands outside the city look pretty stupid.*

[Maybe with some nice words the military will hire me. I bet they'd have a lot of wonderful things they'd like to do with a giant robot. I mean I destroyed that tentacle flapping one, so that has to count for something.]

*They continue their way into the city.*

*After a few minutes of stomping through the city, predictably, a line of 4 tanks comes & starts firing on him.*

[One would think there'd be a loudspeaker or something so I could tell them to stop goddamn shooting. But no, they have to shoot first and ask questions later.]

*Gelu Chalybs fires at the ground in front of the tanks kicking up a cloud of dust and what not, obscuring the tanks vision as it backs away.*

*He actually causes the ground to give way, revealing the subway below.*

[That'll slow and/or halt their advances. Potential escape route or hidey hole? For me at least, but leaving would mean I get shot and/or blown up. For all I know I can get this down there and at least escape while abandoning it, but I'm going to need a bigger entrance.]

*Gelu Chalybs steps back some more firing at the ground as it does so to make the hole bigger.*

[Hopefully this works.]

*The entrance was big enough as it was, now he's just being a greedy fucker & destroying the street. As if in response to that, the tanks start to shoot at his legs.*

[I should've stayed home today. Or yesterday. I have lost all track of time.]

*Gelu Chalybs fires at the tanks stepping towards the big hole in the street. Vega bracing for impact.*

[You're built like a tank, now continue to protect me like one.]

*It survives the fall with only a few damage warnings at the feet. Not long afterwards, the tanks retreat.*

"They're going to have some difficulty getting you out. And with any luck I'll see you later."

*He powers down the Megadeus and climbs out heading down the tunnel.*
