A Tale of Two Cities

*Kanrei Tsuki raises its rifle and fires at the rat.*

"Kthxbye."

*The rat dies. Because I gruesomely fucked up my timing for everyone's stories, she sees Aamon running down that same path.*

*Kanrei Tsuki lowers its rifle and pursues Aamon.*

*When she gets to the end of the tunnel, she finds herself standing on a large stage set, with the backdrop of a city. There are no apparent doors & Aamon is nowhere to be found.*

*Kanrei Tsuki looks from left to right, ready to raise its gun at any moment.*

Topaz: <I want to know why Beck kidnapped my brother. Do you know why?>

Roger<Well, there's no doubt that he wanted the money, but he usually goes after people with...more of that. So it could be that he knew about your Megadeuses and was after them, to help him steal more money...or it could be that someone was paying him off. Tell me, Miss Regun, do you have any enemies?>

*Aamon doesn't show up. Instead, a large slug climbs out of the tunnel behind her, & tries to eat the Megadeus's head.*

*Kanrei Tsuki turns around, raising its rifle and fires.*

Topaz: <They're all either dead or behind bars. Mostly the former hypothesis.>

Roger<...What?>

*The slug's head explodes & its body deflates. Even through the Megadeus, it smells like burn pond scum.*

Topaz: <I don't know of any enemies of mine that aren't either dead or in jail.>

Roger<You're going to have to be more specific if you want my help.>

Topaz: <...It'll take me at least 2 hours to make a mildly accurate list.>

*Roger just takes his paycheck & gets the Hell out of there.*

~2 Days Later!~

*Thiera & Lilith are in the kitchen.*

T"You know, I haven't seen Zell much lately. Maybe you should go apologize."

L"Maybe YOU should go apologize."

T"...That doesn't make sense."

*Hitomi wakes up knowing there's a message on her machine to get ready & head into the sewers to kill monsters. She's been hunting Aamon full-time since that day, & while she's found plenty of his creations swarming the subways, she's yet to find the man himself.*

Zell enters the kitchen, dressed, and ready for the day. Her eyes are red and puffy, and downcast. "Good morning." She said weakly, before turning to take a seat at the dinner table.

*Kanrei Tsuki treks through the underground like it's been doing for the past few days.*

T"Lilith, why don't you start setting the table?"

*Lilith puts down waffles in front of everyone. Thiera's plate as well as her own has a simple stack of 2 with maple syrup. Zell's has double that, in addition to being fresh blueberry, having chopped up strawberries, and whipped cream in the shape of a smiley face. Also, her milk has a cinnamon stick in it, and she has a side of sliced orange. Lilith sits down & looks away.*

T"...Gee, thanks."

L"You are welcome."

*Predictably, she's approached by what looks like a giant blob of garbage with fangs.*

*Kanrei Tsuki moves its arms to the side and the hatches on its rib section opening up. The machine gun proceed to spray the monster with bullets.*

"Guess I better go the the wharf" Luna said, patting her stomach after a delicious meal, "I'm not sure what the time of day is, though, but something ought to end up happening if I go there now."

With that, she rose and fetched the controller of her Megadeus and both her pistol and her favourite phone before heading out, guiding the Megadeus through the subway's after her and positioning it under a spot next to the wharf before rising herself and wondering over there to wait while pretending to drink from a smelly juice carton.

"Thank you." Zell said quietly, with a small smile as she saw the whipped cream smiley face. Wordlessly she began to eat her food, not mentioning the facts that she didn't like whipped cream, or blueberries.

*The bullets just kind of go through it without doing anything. It picks up speed, trying to ram Kanrei Tsuki.*

*Thiera takes one of Lilith's waffles & is met with a glare.*

T"What? You don't eat that much, anyway."

Zell leans away from her empty plate and lets out a small satisfied sigh. "Thank you, Lilith. It was delicious." She said before wiping her mouth with a napkin.

*Kanrei Tsuki raises its rifle and swings it to hit the monster with the butt of it.*

*Her gun gets stuck in it & the monster quickly begins growing over the Megadeus.*

L"It is not a problem."

T"What is a problem is that Aamon seems to have vanished, & in his place are a swarm of subway monsters. Also, the President is dead, so it'll probably only be a matter of time before Vera comes 'investigating.'"
