Because a very primitive portion of your brain stores the melody, & when your language sector recognizes the words, it triggers it, & when your visual sector recognizes the man, it accesses the memory of the commercial, but everything is running on the same network, so the impulses get crossed, & the thoughts become jumbled together. Once this happens, it establishes a feedback loop, where continuing to think about it will strengthen that neural connection, & make it more difficult to dismiss the thought.
