Old Ones Return (II)

E"No big deal."

T"Thanks...I think...."

*DemiDevomon flaps its wings in what might be either a shrug or jazz hands.*

D<Take it up with Yamaki.>

Lunamon:<I will when we get back.>

Biyomon:<Why do you want money anyway?>

Lunamon:<I just don't wanna not get paid if they are.>

*She points at Azuma and Patamon*

Azuma: "Maybe if-"

It's at this point he realizes he's arguing with a child and should reevaluate his life.

Azuma: "I'm going to go sit...over there."

He sets off in some direction not the way they had come from.

Taiyo: "If you say so."

*Some time later, Zudomon steps back from his work anvil & whistles. The DigiGnomes bounce over from all over the cave & spin around it, before vanishing in a white flash of light. Zudomon then picks up a bunch of cards & fans them out before the characters. Euryale selects one that looks like a breast plate.*

Z<Chrome Digizoid Armor, Metal Piximon Spears, my hammer, & a Brave Shield.>

E"So...if I slash this card...?"

Z<Yours is specially designed to appear on your own body. The rest will appear in the possession of the Digimon.>

Taiyo: "That's pretty cool."

Taiyo takes one of the spear cards.

*Kylie one of the spear cards, and Cameron takes the Brave Shield*

Kylie:<Thank you very much!>

Cameron:<Yeah.>

Senthose<Yes. I have to admit that it is.>

*Senthose is standing at the cave entrance, with a contingent of 8 soldiers. This time, he is also accompanied by a pair of [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]. Zudomon immediately whirls around & throws his hammer at the wall, knocking a huge hole in it.*

Zudomon<Go, now! I'll hold them off!>

Senthose<Now how long will you be able to manage that for, especially considering you just threw away your only weapon? Also, that's a pretty lame line.>

*Zudomon takes a step, lashing out. Senthose looks down at the giant claw sticking out of his stomach, small trickles of blood streaming from his mouth.*

Senthose<I stand corrected about that "only weapon" thing. But the line was still lame.>

*Kylie grabs the snickering Lunamon and runs over to the others*

<Come on, let's go!>

Azuma grabs Hitomi's hand and heads out. Taiyo does the same with Euryale.

T"We can't just leave him!"

E"Yes we can!"

*With her free arm, Euryale just hoists Thiera up by her waist & starts running along with Taiyo. DemiDevimon flyes along behind them.*

T"What are you doing?! Let me go!"

E"He obviously knows what he's doing, he's giving up his life so that, at the right time, we can save the Digital World. Now dig out my D-Power & slash a Hyper Wing, Agumon's legs are too stubby, he's having trouble keeping up."

*Behind them, Senthose Digivolves, forcing Zudomon to back off. In the time he manages to smack one Gizumon against the wall, the other hits him with a laser. He growls, his image shimmering as he stumbles around. Worse yet, the other is basically undamaged, & uses its appendages to crawl up the wall.*

Azuma: "I don't think he's gonna buy us much time."

*Lunamon digivolves to Lekismon, picks up Kylie, Cameron, and Biyomon, then follows the others*

*Thiera does what she is told & Agumon flies out ahead of them. Behind them, BioDevimon grabs Zudomon by the throat & the 2 machines blast him again. He dissolves into data in no time at all, absorbed into BioDevimon. BioDevimon then points at the fleeing group, & bullets begin ricocheting off of the walls around them.*

D<Digivolve to...Wizardmon!>

*Wizardmon hovers in the air, turning around. Golden brown auras appear over his hands, which he waves around, & then the rock wall that Zudomon destroyed rebuilds itself.*

T"I don't think we can make it all the way back to the Digital Gate!"

*Kylie scans Hyper Wing, and Lekismon takes to the air*

Lekismon:<What about the Blue card? we could stand and fight.>

Azuma: "And those machines?"

E"If Zudomon sacrificed himself to give us time to escape, he must have known that this wasn't the right time to make a stand. Someone, dig out one of the Space O...Orb Thingies that Kurata gave us!"

*Lekismon lands near the others, and waits for someone to open a gate*

And so Hitomi activates one as apparantly Lekismon's partner is incapable of doing so.

*One would hope everyone is smart enough to run through. Either way, the thing closes within seconds.*

Azuma: "So, I don't like how that went at all."

*Lekismon reverts to Lunamon*

Biyomon:<They seem to have some way of tracking us.>

Cameron:<Maybe they were using us to find Zudomon.>

E"But I had Agumon fly up to look for them, they weren't anywhere in sight!"

Kurata<With military technology, they could be miles away & still see you. Speaking of...I'll need to confiscate the Blue Card. It is considered a national security risk.>

*He holds out his hand.*

Lunamon:<But..why? We'll need it to fight those guys.>

Azuma: "They had no issues finding us in that maze of a cave network."

Kurata<Probably intercepted the signals of your D-Powers. In any case, it's above me, it's an order handed down from the Department of Defense itself. Possession and use of a Blue Card must be approved by them.>
