Making A Comeback

Astarte left her tea and a partially written eulogy to answer the phone.

Dalia looked around and sighed, then replied flatly, "You idiots are just going to drive yourselves into the dust, I may as well stay out of it. Goodbye."
She put the phone down and started hobbling back to her bed.

Hector tried to call his superior in the Triple Threats.

"Hello, Astarte?"

<What is it? We're kind of busy, the boss gets out in a couple of days, & Kane isn't answering his calls.>

"Oh. Glad I didn't wake you up."

*As she passes the closet, she pulls out a red robe, dons it, & continues on to open the door.*

"Hi, Gabby. Sorry about the wait. What's up?"

"Hey. Don't worry about it, I didn't wait long," Gabe said, "Anyway, was talking with Tirea. We were thinking of doing something to celebrate the championship. I was wondering if you would be interested."

"Is that what you were talking to Roatha about?" Mortal asked, "I heard you guys in the hall."

She pointed over her shoulder, "Yeah, he said he'd go if Astarte was up to it."

"Hello, Roatha. How are you feeling?"

"Just checking in to see if there's any jobs you want done," Hector said. "You've got 3 idle members here."

"Huh? Oh, fine I guess. I was actually calling about how you're doing."

"Oh, yeah, that sounds like fun. What did you have in mind?"

<I'm guessing Kane could probably use some help guarding Mr. Zolt.>

"Ah, as well as could be expected I suppose," Astarte said. "A little tired and stressed, but fine."

"Then we'll head over there."

*Eve starts to eat*

"Why don't you come in and take a seat," Mortal said.

"Oh, thanks," Gabe said with a smile. She then answered Euryale, "I, uh, really don't know. We just decided we'd like to do something. Given the last few days I wasn't even sure if anyone would be up for celebrating, so the plans didn't get that far."

*She heads over to the couch to sit near Gabe.*

"Would you like something? Like a drink?"

*Eve continues eating, listening to the music*

"Oh, hmm," Astarte paused. "I guess that depends on when it's planned for."

The trio got their kit together and started heading over there.

"Oh, yes, that'd be nice," Gabe said with a smile, "Could I please have a glass of water?"

"Sure," Mortal said, walking over to the kitchen to get Gabe a glass of ice water.

Gabe giggled a bit, "One asks me if I want a drink, the other gets me one. You two really are a team."

"Would this evening work?" Noct asked.

"Some time today, I think."

*And so they wind up at the hospital with the mob out front.*

"We've had a lot of practice."

{Sure! Sounds like a plan.}

"I might be free later, like maybe this evening," Astarte said.

They started pushing and slipping through the mob towards the front gate.

"Great," Noct said, "I'll get everything ready then. Let Gabriel, and the other's know the plan."

"Yeah, if we can patrol a beat together, I'm sure we can get you a glass of water," Mortal said, returning with the drink, and handing it to Gabe.

"Oh, I figured, it is just really nice to see," Gabe said, "You guys just seem like the perfect couple."

"Alright, I'll tell them. You, uh, need any help with anything? Like, before that?"

*At the gate are a trio of dudes in armor that looks kind of like cop armor, but is just ordinary rock. On their hats & chests, they've got a blue shield with a white cross in it. Hospital security guards.*

"I don't know, sometimes I wonder if we don't fight enough."

*She scratches her chin.*

"I mean...we do fight a lot, just not...each other...with arguments...."

{I will. Bye Noct! Love you!}

*Tirea hangs up then calls Gabe again*

"I'd like to think we'd handle it well," Mortal said, "Besides, how could I yell at you? I don't think I could."

Gabe shook her head, "Please don't fight. It'd be really awkward, and I don't want things to get out of hand."

Gabe isn't home, so it goes to... er, nothing, voicemail doesn't exist yet.

Noct looked at the phone after Tirea hung up, "Love?" She shrugged, then hung up on her end. Noct looked at Ven, "We're going to be having a celebration here this evening."

"Oh no, I'll be alright for the moment," Astarte smiled a little. "Thanks for offering, though. I suppose I'll see you later."

"We're here to see Kane."

R"All right, later."

*The guards just kind of look at each other & one of them unlocks the gate to let him through.*

E"Okay. I was just saying, I've heard that you're supposed to argue on occasion. It tests the relationship, or something."

OOC: It's pretty common for girls to say that to one another, if doesn't mean anything though.

*Tirea resumes getting dressed*

*Eve finishes her breakfast and heads up to pay*

OOC: Yes, Noct, however, isn't BFFFs with anyone, nor is she in a modern high school. She is a grown woman in fake 20's. The comment simply caught her off guard.

Noct decided to call up her assistant so she could set up the catering.

"Well, maybe you guys are just doing so good you don't need any tests," Gabe suggested. She then shrugged, "I don't know, maybe it was because you were friends for so long. Plus what is really important enough to argue about when you guys put your lives in each other's hands."

"Well, until we find something to argue about we'll just have to keep being untested," Mortal said, obviously not stressed out that her relationship was, gasp, not marred by arguing, and fighting.

Astarte put the phone down and went back to her things.

The trio went in and headed for reception.
