Old Ones Return (III)

*Kylie is just staring at the ground, lunamon doing the same. Biyomon waves*

Biyomon:<Hey guys.>

Kurata<So this is everyone? Oh well. We've asked some of the Digimon about the cave paintings, & we believe it refers to some legend about the "Digimon Sovereign." They say that the temple they took residence in has an important relic related to one of these "Sovereign," so I want you to try to retrieve it, as it could be a vital clue about who is leading the Digimon Armies which keep attacking this world.>

Cameron:<Alright.>

*Biyomon nods and pokes Kylie, who doesn't respond*

Azuma: "Back to the jungle then?"

Kurata<Indeed.>

*Kurata heads for the Digital Gate chamber.*

I guess they all follow.

*As soon as the gate is active, they all head though it*

*They soon find themselves walking up the steps of the pyramid to the egg chamber.*

E"It doesn't look like there's any exit to this room. Maybe it's a hidden door?"

A<...Or maybe we just have to go in through one of the other sides?>

Azuma: "Maybe it's both."

Cameron:<We'll go check the other sides.>

*Cameron and Biyomon head out, and starts walking around the pyramid*

E"Let's try one, & then the other."

*The other entrances are, in fact, staircases leading down.*

*They head back to the others*

Cameron:<There are other entrances. What do you want to do?>

Lunamon:<We might have to split up again.>

Azuma: "Certain the pairings are well established. Who's taking what entrance?"

E"I'll take the one that faces the Sun."

Kylie:<We'll take the right path.>

Azuma: "We'll take whatever's left."

*At the bottom of the stairs, Azuma is presented with a choice to keep going down, or go up a 2nd set of stairs. Kylie is presented with a similar choice, of going left or right down a hallway. Should anyone be with Euryale, she is at a series of 3 doorways. The stone walls seem to have patterns, but since just barely any sunlight gets down this far, it is too hard to see them, unless you are a Digimon who can see in the dark.*

Azuma and Hitomi go down the stairs.

Renamon goes to take a closer look at the patterns on the wall.

*They decide to go right*

"Agumon, could you go back up & make us a torch?"

<Why do I have to do it?>

"Fine, I'll go. And Taiyo will follow. And leave you down here. In this dark cave. Without me. Alone."

<Fine, I'm going, I'm going.....>

*And so he starts climbing up the stairs. The symbols appear to be depictions of Digimon. She makes out an Agumon shape, & a Digi-Egg, but most of them, it's hard to tell what they're supposed to be.*

*Azuma & Hitomi find themselves in a room that splits off in 3 directions, with a golden pedestal at the center.*

*A stone wall slams down over the door they just came through. Big honkin' rocks start falling on them as the ceiling collapses.*

*Lunamon and Biyomon digivolve, Saberdramon using Night Roar on the rocks, while Lekismon uses Tear Arrow*

Taiyo: "What's on it?"

Renamon: "An Agumon and an egg."

Taiyo: "Maybe it has something to do with you?"

They approach the pedestal, taking a gander.

"I don't know. Hey, Renamon, what are the Digimon Sovereign, anyway? Do you know?"

*The top was formerly polished & engraved with a complicated system of routes, but it has been scratched so that most of it is unreadable. They can tell it is a map because, on one edge, they see the pyramid & a ray that connects it to a village a distance from water.*

*The Night Roar deflects most of the rocks, while the Tear Arrow continues to be useless against this kind of attack. However, this proves to be only Phase 1 of the trap, as the rocks assemble themselves into a trio of Golemon who swing wild haymakers at the Champion Digimon.*

Renamon: "The Soverigns are four great Digimon, each ruling over a quadrant of the Digital World, the north, south, east, and west. Due to their unrivaled power, some believe them to be gods."
