Old Ones Return (IV)

*Euryale folds her arms.*

E"I don't think it's a good idea. I see your point, but it's much too reckless. And we still have to rescue Cameron's sister."

S<And who are you to usurp my authority?>

E"The girl who's not sitting on his ass, making sure his wings are pruned & sparkly enough."

Salamon: "What are you doing up here while they run around like they own the place?"

Cameron:<Yeah, think of all the digimon that have been killed while you've done nothing.>

AW<Bite your tongues!>

S<We've been organizing the Digimon armies to fight back.>

E"Well, only you have any idea where their camps are. We need to combine our information if we are to know where to strike."

S<...Follow.>

*The 2 Digimon head into the building.*

*Cameron and Biyomon follow*

And they all follow.

*They are lead into a large, mostly empty chamber illuminated by skylights, a gold hue reflecting off of the bricks. At the center is a wading pool. Looking into it, they see a complicated web of ecosystems & streams of data, with various dots moving between them.*

S<We can track their movements. The problem is, any force that moves against them winds up de-digivolved, deleted, & reconstituted into their army. There is little that we can do against them. We had some success with long range combat, but in the end, even those forces were defeated.>

*He points to where several black dots are pouring through a quartet of data streams.*

S<It seems they've finally broken into the 4th Zone.>

E"That's not good. They've followed us before."

S<We are actually counting on it. As an extreme measure, we can destroy that Datastream. There's no guarantee, but it might delete any of the soldiers & their monsters who are inside of it when we do.>

*Thiera shivers, looking repulsed.*

D<...Cool.>

Azuma: "That's more than what we have. At least now we can do something besides wait for them to come to us. We just need a better plan if we go on the offensive which we're presently not capable of."

Cameron:<It's kinda horrible, but I don't think we have a choice.>

E"I think we might have a chance. Think about it, they already have an unusual amount of soldiers for a mercenary army. They must be reaching their limit."

T"But that's why they're converting Digimon into their servants."

E"True, but there are only a few people actually controlling them, & making decisions. They're the weak point."

D<So weak that they've already wiped us flat & damn near killed you.>

Cameron:<It comes back around to needing mega.>

Azuma: "We're not going to get far if we keeping we can't win. What if we go exclusively after their top brass? If a data stream can be manipulated to transport them to us perhaps we can launch a surprise attack."

E"Gotta learn to walk before you can crawl. Thiera still needs to use the Blue Card."

S<Unlikely. They would see it coming, & simply avoid it.>

T"Do...do you think I really deserve--"

E"Wait, everyone shut up! Hold on. Can you rewind this thing?"

S<Well...I don't see why, but-->

*He waves his hand over the pool, which glows. The black dots begin moving backwards through the data streams until Euryale points at a large, dark mass.*

E"There. Many of the soldiers came from here. But there are other bases, here & here."

*She points to smaller clusters of dozens of dots.*

Azuma: "What are you suggesting? Start hitting their individual bases?"

Cameron:<Could we even take individual bases?>

E"No, think about it. Why would so many of them have gathered here, if there were other bases nearby?"

S<Some sort of strategy meeting, perhaps?>

E"Such as for a new captive."

Cameron:<She's probably there...but at the moment it'd be suicide to go in there...>

Azuma: "So if we can't storm it, what are we doing? Some covert thing? None of us humans are really qualified for that."

E"Most of them have probably abandoned this base to press on the attack. It's still inadvisable to storm them directly, though."

S<In other words, this information is useless.>

E"Not necessarily. We can track Kylie with these."

*She holds up her D-Power.*

E"Once we have her, we just need approval from Hypnos to use bombs against them, as they can only degenerate Digimon. Our Digimon are inoculated against the degeneration, so they can get within range to deliver the charges."

Regulumon<Pfah. Sounds like she doesn't even need the High & Mighty Seraphimon.>

E"Well, I wouldn't say that. This plan hinges on being able to track the motions of our enemies. Also...."

*She digs out her Red Card & hands it to Seraphimon.*

E"If you present this to your Sovereign, they might be able to figure out how to prevent you from degenerating, as well."

Azuma: "And the whole Biomerging thing?"

Cameron:<He said he couldn't tell us about that.>

E"I don't think we're going to need it. But either way, DemiDevimon should be able to digivolve to Ultimate."

*She hands the Blue Card to Thiera, who looks at her like, "Me?"*

Taiyo: "What are we going to do to rescue Kylie?"

Azuma: "What's that parasite inside of her? What do you know about that?"

Cameron:<I didn't see it. Taiyo, you were with her. What happened?>

S<If the parasite is a Digimon, it is most likely a Seraphimon.>

E"I was thinking we just sneak in & grab her."

AW<That could work, if her partner isn't under the control of a Parasimon as well.>
