L"One of you can try contacting her tonight if you want. Right now, I'm too tired to care."

T"Fine, I guess we should collect our thoughts & reconvene in the morning. How about all of the males in one room, the females to another, and we stand watch in shifts of 2?"

L"Assuming that any of us can actually stay awake, fine, we'll try that plan. Thanks for volunteering for first watch."

Azuma: "You plan on hiding out here?"

Eve:<We will go to a hotel, Azuma.>

*They soon go their separate ways. Should anyone have attempted to contact Vanessa, Senthose, or Dr. Schreiber, they would have found their answers less than satisfactory or existent.*

*Dawn is approaching, finding Lilith sitting on a chair & fiddling with her phone, still plugged into the charger, occasionally looking up to check on Taiyo, Thiera, & Eve.*

L"What the Hell?"

*She walks over to the covers, brushing what looks like dust off of them. Looking up, she sees a thin cloud of it still falling from the vent above the bed & decides to shine her phone's flashlight in there, finding nothing. Looking back down at her hand, she gives it a quick sniff & immediately wrinkles her nose in disgust.*

L"They're ashes."

*She notices that the ashes mostly cover Taiyo, then looks over to Astarte.*

L"You don't think these are--I mean, he could have just pulled some junk out of a fireplace, couldn't he?"

*Azuma is awakened by some asshole slapping him in the face.*

Roatha: "Hey. Wake up, ya stupid mutt, I brought presents."

*Roatha can be seen illuminated in the soft glow of the television, slapping the shit out of him.*

Anchorman<...Detective Jane Doe claims to have a suspect for the disappearances, but refused to comment on our questions.>

Taiyo squirms, wondering what the hell Lilith is doing, not that she'll want the answer.

Azuma: "Bastard!"

Azuma lunges for Roatha, intent on fixing whatever is wrong with him. With his hands.

"If you want to suddenly start believing the best case scenario, sure," Astarte had been sitting with her chin resting in her palm, only barely shifting to watch Lilith investigate the ashes. "You should wake them up, whatever put that in the vents could still be here."

Grimm awoke at the break of dawn and washed himself again, as he had done the evening before.

Stefan hadn't slept, but rather spent the night sitting in the bath tub of his old home, alternating between the feelings of terror, remorse and anger.

L"Alright. I guess I can't protect them from bad news."

*She starts nudging them.*

L"Taiyo, Thiera, wake up. Something's happened."

*Roatha grabs his throat & punches him in his gunshot wound.*

Taiyo stirs and sits up. Likely hasn't slept much if she slept at all.

Taiyo: "What?"

Azuma grits his teeth and swings for Roatha's mouth. Pain and vengeance are good motivators.

"You would be better off not asking," Astarte suggested neutrally from the same resting position.

*Tirea, awakened from the noise, fiddles for the call button for the nurse as quietly as possible*

*Eve opens her eyes, having fallen sleep next to her laptop*

<What happened in here?>

L"You are covered in ash. It is kind of hard to miss."

*Thiera sits up groggily.*

T"...Why would she be covered in ash?"

L"Probably just something wrong with the air vents."

*She checks her phone.*

L"Nero says he hasn't seen anything. Still no word from anyone else."

*Roatha is punched as he continues to choke Azuma. He takes it on the jaw & the motion makes him notice Tirea.*

R"Like I wouldn't cut the power. You can yell, but the cops should be keeping everybody busy. And I can always shut you up for good. I only came here to show you just how powerless you really are."

*Eve rubs her eyes*

*She looks over at Taiyo then shuts up*

Lilith is a horrible liar and Taiyo has given up on trying not to cry.

Astarte looked over at Taiyo, and figuring she wouldn't be seen through the tears anyway, didn't bother trying to appear sympathetic.

Grimm dressed, got his pistol and ammunition together, and went for his morning walk to the church with his posture only slightly impaired by recent damage.

Stefan's parents finally made him get out of the bathroom and he left without speaking to them, eating a slice of bread on the way to the church.

T"I don't understand, what are--AHH! AHHHH!"

*She looks at the ashes for a while & her eyes widen. She hurls the covers off of herself & starts scrabbling to get away, accidentally kicking Taiyo in the leg & falling off of the bed in the process, at which point she keeps crawling away.*

L"Thiera, calm down."

*She approaches Taiyo & reaches to put a hand on her back.*

L"I'm sorry. We'll find a way to make Ira pay for everything he's done."

R"That's something me & the shade have in common. One second."

*Roatha pulls Azuma off of the bed & onto the floor, where he climbs onto him, jamming his knee into his gunshot wound, & begins punching him in the face & chest, laughing.*

R"You think you could have saved her like this?! You're almost as weak as she was!"

*He now makes it a point to spit in his mouth.*

*When they arrive at the church, a police cruiser is parked. Officer Jane stands leaning against it.*

He punches Roatha in the dick for all the good it's going to do when against a tremendous Villain Sue.

*Tirea rises slowly*

Tirea:<Haven't you made your point already? We get that we're powerless.>

Eve:<Why don't you both take a hot shower?>

Astarte actually snorted at that, but composed herself almost immediately.

"Can I help you, officer?" Grimm asked moderately. Assuming Stefan arrived at around the same time he kept his distance and just watched the two.

OOC: He's a "tremendous villain sue" because a wounded Azuma can't just kick his ass. Of course.

*He doesn't have the leverage to reach his dick. Roatha presses down on his throat & uses his free hand to try to gather Azuma's wrists.*

R"It's not enough. It's never enough, you idiot. That's the one downside to this job. With today's technology, I could keep my targets alive for months, years even. But no, we have a schedule to keep."

Jane<Hopefully. We've met a few times before, if you remember. If you don't, you can call me Officer Jane. I hoped to ask you about some recent disappearances.>

*Tirea slowly places both feet on the ground, then hoists herself up. She looks around the room for anything that might look remotely heavy*

Astarte stared back at them with an uncharacteristic confidence showing through her posture and gaze, but said nothing.

"I believe I remember, yes, yes, I'd be happy to," Grimm nodded. "Just yesterday there was an attempt made on my life by some of those college students. I already spoke with a police officer about that, but I'm sure it is related."

*The only objects heavy enough to inflict damage are also too heavy or too well-secured to move. Azuma's face & chest burn as he runs low on oxygen. Roatha takes this time to dig a photograph out of his pocket & show it to Azuma.*

R"This is my present to you: A copy of the makeover that we gave her."

*Sure enough, the picture depicts Mimiru lying on a gurney, her eyes open & unfocused, slightly clouded over, her skin pale, lips slightly blue, & a nasty wound in her neck.*

R"Doesn't she look much better this way? Admit it, you'd still hit it."

*Lilith reluctantly tears her gaze away from Astarte to look back at Taiyo.*

L"Well...regardless, I think Eve is right. We should take whatever chances we get to freshen up. It'll be a few hours until the hospital is open to visitors anyway."

Azuma grabs Roatha's wrist and squeezes (around point six), trying to wretch his hand off his throat which should be easy as there's less pressure applied in a one hand choke than two, but lol Villain Sue.

Grimm very deliberately looked confused, then went on, "Well, I encountered them on the street some time after their friends attacked me in the church, and one of them turned a gun on me. The Cyprus girl. Fortunately I was able to disarm her. They had all fled the scene by the time an officer arrived."

Astarte got up and left, going to the room Nero had slept in and knocking on the door, "It's me. Astarte."
