*Eve packs up her stuff*

<As close as the hospital is, part of me wants to order a cab.>

R"If she had anything on him, she'd have done it by now. Or maybe she's already on to the fact that much of the department is corrupt. I would get Dr. Schreiber's gun, but I don't know where she keeps it."

*Lilith re-enters the room.*

L"I say we just go without them."

T"We can't do that!"

L"Why not? They're not going to want to participate anyway. And they'll be perfectly safe inside of this crowded hotel in the middle of the day."

"I don't even know who that is."

Eve:<I dislike the idea of leaving them as well, however I'm sure Tirea and Azuma are waiting.>

T"Well...we should at least leave them a message...."

L"Have at it, but do it on the way. I'm going to call the hospital & tell them we're coming."

*She does just that, heading out of the door & dialing her phone.*

*He abruptly turns around, treating them both to the sight of the Shadow slinking out of a nearby stairwell.*

S"Shit!"

*Of course, Senthose kicks Stefan's legs out from under him & pushes him forward before heading into the street, pulling his coat up over his face.*

*Eve texts Azuma and Astarte*

Going to hospital, meet you there.


<There, I texted them.>

Stefan got the fuck out as soon as he could given Senthose's actions, with all the adrenaline of someone who knows they are facing death.

*An elderly couple sitting on a bench, a few charity booth workers, & a group of Asian people in suits stare at them, as this looks like some random kid chasing a homeless man into a crowded street.*

*When they stride into the hospital, they find the doctor & nurse speaking with someone who looks like an older Azuma.*

L"You said you wanted to talk to us about something. What exactly does that mean? And who is this?"

Doctor<Mr. Haruka, these are your brother's friends. If you don't want them to be here for this conversation, we can move this to a more secluded room while Nurse Leslie speaks with them.>

*By this time, one can assume that Astarte & Nero have at least gotten out of the shower, if for no other reason than running out the hot water.*

Kentaro and Azuma don't look too much alike, but we'ver.

Kentaro: "I'd rather speak with him myself, if no one minds. On that note, what is he even doing here?"

*Tirea's aunt and uncle enter the building as well*

Mrs Aakin:<That's a good question, what are we doing here?>

Stefan stopped momentarily to look back over his shoulder once out among people, then started jogging back home.

Astarte opened the bathroom door and walked out to the bed with her hair wrapped in a towel and a second towel slung over her shoulder. She carried her panties and jeans under her other arm, tossing them over onto the clothes she had left out.

Doctor<I can get another nurse to speak with the 2 of you. We all have sensitive medical information to discuss.>

L"Hey, everyone stop ignoring us!"

T"Indeed. We were attacked too, doesn't that make this our concern as well?"

*Sitting on the bed is Roatha, who gets nailed in the face with Astarte's pants.*

N"Holy shit!"

*Nero shoves his pants on as quickly as he is able & pulls out his pocket knife.*

N"So--which one are you?"

*Having pulled the pants off of him, Roatha glances dully at Nero.*

R"Ira's not here right now. Also, that won't work."

Astarte froze and stared at Roatha in a way that conveyed simmering hate and resignation to death.

Stefan kept going until he got home at which point he would run from window to window, peeking in to see if something nasty was waiting inside.

Mrs Aakin:<Thank you.>

Kentaro: "Why is my brother here in the first place?"

Doctor<Ah, yes, Mr. Haruka, please follow me. Nurse, if you could please lead Mr. & Mrs. Aakin to Room-->

*Lilith steps in front of him, fists on hips, & stands on her toes to get right up in his face. He finds himself literally backed into a wall.*

L"Did I not just say to stop ignoring us?"

*This is wise, because the Shadow is standing in the middle of the living room. Glowing red orbs appear in its head.*

N"Then why did you just break in here?"

*Roatha turns to stare at the door in confusion.*

R"Break in? You didn't even lock the door."

N"Really? Shit. Well--still, you should have knocked! Didn't you think I might have had a girl over?"

*He looks back, still barely responsive & Nero points in his face.*

R"No."

N"Hey--eat a dick."

Astarte slowly put the towel around herself instead of just baring everything to this guy.

Stefan went back to the original plan of getting to some place crowded quickly, but this time avoiding any conveniently dangerous alleys.

Taiyo: "He was shot."

Kentaro: "What?! Why the hell am I just finding this out now? Do you not alert anyone's family when someone comes in with a bullet in them?"

Mrs Aakin:<Are you friends of Tirea's?>

*Eve nods*

<And Azuma. They were injured at the same time.>

*The doctor leans over to look past Lilith. Meanwhile, Nurse Leslie approaches the Aakins.*

Nurse<Please, come with me.>

Doctor<Unfortunately, we had some difficulty identifying your brother. He was unconscious when he was brought here, & his wallet was confiscated by the police, who were reluctant to divulge any information from their investigation.>

L"And that doesn't seem strange to you?"

*While they're talking, the nurse glances briefly at Tirea.*

Nurse<Even so, we can't involve you in the medical decisions unless their families consent.>

Doctor<We have several officers on-site now, who have ensured us that internal affairs will be conducting an investigation.>

T"Why don't you just ask Tirea & Azuma directly? I'm sure they'd agree that this situation affects all of us."

Nurse<Due to...circumstances, we feel that their--understanding of the request may be compromised.>

R"Where is everyone, anyway?"

N"What, you mean you don't remember?"

R"Pieces. I remember...."

*He bends down, burying his face in his hands.*

R"You don't want to know."

N"We saw what he did to the others."

R"No. You didn't. He--he cut down the footage. Said he had to show you something so you couldn't 'skip over the message.' He has more. Hours of tapes of what he did to Sab & Aroma--probably others. They were still alive when he--when I--I could barely recognize them, but--"

*Nero crumples his nose, turning away from Roatha & holding out his hand.*

N"Okay, please, stop talking now."

*Stefan realizes he made a mistake. At a residential district during normal working hours, there aren't many people around, so he's not running for very long before a hand shadowy darts out from a stairwell. Though no flames are visible, his pants begin to char. He can see the faint outline of a humanoid form as it starts pulling him into the abyss.*

"So why should we believe this isn't just some gag of yours?" Astarte demanded once she was decent. "We know you were probably here just this morning dumping ashes in the vents to scare us."

Stefan dropped his pants and scrambled out of them, making for the middle of the road while screaming 'help'.

Kentaro: "Where is he?"

Mrs Aakin:<Just let them talk to the kids. I'm sure Tirea and Azuma want to see their friends.>

*They follow*

Doctor<Right this way, please.>

Nurse<I'm afraid that, since the information concerns both of them, we can't allow them in unless Mr. Haruka agrees as well.>

*Thiera & Lilith start to follow.*

L"That's exactly what I've been saying! We're all affected by this because we were all attacked by the same priest! Oh, by the way, Azuma was shot by a crazy priest & Tirea was stabbed by his lackey."

T"Lilith! That was tactless!"

L"What?! They want to know what happened, we're all sick of these assholes talking in circles--"

*She points to the doctor & nurse.*

T"I'm sure she means no offense to you both!"

L"I mean a LOT of offense to them."

R"I don't REMEMBER doing anything like that, but I don't remember most of this morning...."

*The shadow drags Stefan's pants into the abyss. He eventually encounters a brunette woman in a suit emerging from her house, who stares at him in confusion. Similarly, a male cyclist with a white-&-red striped shirt & obnoxiously short short shorts turns his head to look at Stefan until he smashes into a parking meter & falls over. Up ahead, Stefan can catch glimpses of a meter maid making his rounds & several people going in & out of fast food restaurants.*
