Old Ones Return (VI)

*They can't reach, & are now firmly trapped in the coils. Ophanimon blocks the Medulla's mouth by holding her spear in it like the bridle of a horse, though the trio are already poisoned. The Medulla begins thrashing about, elongating to start wrapping around her as well. Meanwhile, near the Digi-Egg, Beelzemon engages in a shootout with Mervamon, aiming for the knees. She dances around. Jumping, she performs a spinning slash that releases a tornado, blowing Beelzemon off of his feet. He uses his wings to catch himself & keeps firing.*

*Lalamon leaps off of Ceresmon, Digivolving to Antylamon. Landing on MegaKabuterimon's back, it stretches its arms across the insect's body to hold its wings shut, allowing Ornismon to destroy it. When it lands in the city below, the firewhirl begins moving towards it. The Digimon refugees that reach the gate turn back as Kurata's 2nd Fleet arrives & starts blasting them. Ceresmon lowers vines down for them to climb on. To resolve the stalemate, Shakkoumon absorbs MegaKabuterimon's data, becoming Eaglemon/Crossmon. It then rockets towards Angewomon, shooting a white laser out of its mouth.*

*At the height of WarGreymon's jump, Jupitermon is thrown free, having had its arm shorn off. WarGreymon then heats its claws & pulls on its sword until it snaps, throwing the broken pieces back to the ground. As she begins creating a Terra Force, Jupitermon growls.*

Jupitermon<I WILL NEVER FORGIVE YOU!>

*Rocketing towards her, he releases lightning from all over his body.*

*Down below, Junomon is cut & her staff broken, then thrown back into the palace doorway as she is frozen into a glacier. However, the ice soon explodes & the tower begins to collapse as Junomon Hysteric Mode emerges.*

Junomon<I WON'T LOSE JUPITERMON!>

*She begins stabbing at Dianamon with all of her tentacles in a manner not unlike an embrace or a sea anemone wrapping its tentacles around its prey.*

Angewomon flies to evade while MagnaAngemon blasts Eaglemon with Soul Banisher.

Sakuyamon swings their staff, enveloping Jupitermon in fire.

*Dianamon flies back to get away from both the collapsing tower and Junomon's tentacles, then starts firing ice arrows at her head*

*Ornismon tries to blast Eaglemon out of the sky with a whirlwind*

*Crusadermon also continues struggling*

*WarGreymon also throws the Terra Force. The flaming remnants of Jupitermon fall to the ground, the explosion collapsing part of the city & the mountain it's on.*

<"Thank you. But it looks like we have other enemies to handle.">

*Antylamon tries to flee the flaming tornado, but ends up being shot up by Kurata's minions, so WarGreymon flies down in an attempt to rescue it. Eaglemon also falls to the ground while dissolving. Ceresmon begins to flee the city, dropping down peculiar banana-like fruits attached by vines. They wrap around Junomon like bolas, incapacitating her while Dianamon shoots her head off.*

*The poisoned Digimon start to go limp. BlackGatomon's eyes close. Ophanimon pulls back on the Medulla as hard as she can. She also releases a blast of light from the javelin. The resulting propulsion is enough to pull the coils loose.*

O<"Are you making any progress, Beelzemon?!">

Beelzemon<Workin' on it!>

*Mervamon blocks his bullets by holding the sword in front of her, then uses it to slash debris up at him, knocking him out of the air. Of course, she makes a beeline for the Digi-Egg.*

Sakuyamon conjures up fox spirits to assault the bad guys while Angewomon & MagnaAngemon attack them with arrows and lasers.

Justimon tries to not fall over or whatever.

*Ornismon roars and fires at the minions attacking Antylamon, hopefully giving WarGreymon time to pick her up. Dianamon leaves burst mode and joins the others in firing on the enemy*

*Crusadermon, very wobbly, tries to move in to grab the egg but probably fails*

*Crusadermon falls & knocks Justimon over. The Medulla manages to constrict around Ophanimon & bite her in the throat. After retrieving the Digi-Egg, Mervamon dashes towards the Tamers.*

*WarGreymon grabs Antylamon, then shifts into Burst Mode as the fire tornado passes over them. Once again, Kurata's air force is eliminated, but no 3rd wave is mobilized.*

The three move to try and stop whatever or whoever is making the tornado.

Hoping Crusadermon will try and free Ophanimon in a way that doesn't involve displacing bodyparts, Justimon tries to stand to go and retrieve the egg.

*Crusadermon tries to get up and grab the Medulla's tail*

*Dianamon and Ornismon try and find the cause of the tornado as well*

*So everyone just stands around staring stupidly at a fire tornado until WarGreymon emerges from it, dragging along Sylphimon & Shadramon. When they dissolve, the firewhirl dissipates & she points at Ceresmon, who has been surrounded by Gizumon, which are bombarding her with attacks.*

*Crusadermon grabs Mervamon's arm, I suppose. When Mervamon reaches them, she reduces the egg to data & implants it in BlackGatomon. She then runs a hand through her hair & down to her thigh.*

LM<Some heroes you turned out to be. Now, be good little ones, & just lie back & die.>

*The poison compromising their senses makes them feel compelled to obey, though it is most effective on Justimon. Mervamon withdraws the Medulla, which begins sucking poison out of BlackGatomon. Since Mervamon didn't say anything about attacking, after she falls back, Ophanimon puts all of her strength into a blast of Sephirot crystals, degenerating into Thiera & LadyDevimon afterwards. Beelzemon also emerges from the ruins, flies into the air, & fires a Corona Destroyer at the neck of the Medulla.*

They direct their attacks at the Gizumon.

Justimon is likely having an internal conflict trying to not be compelled to lay down and die.

*With all their remaining strength, Crusadermon fires on Mervamon before falling over*

*Ornismon flaps his wings to blow the Gizumon out of the sky, while Dianamon starts trying to pick them off with arrows*

*Mervamon is knocked down & her snake arm severed. Lady Devimon eye-lasers the still-writhing snake to knock it away, then makes her way to the closest Digimon, who happens to be Justimon, & stabs him with her claw. He drops down a level, but her Darkness Wave still drives away the poison.*

L/M<You're too late, in any case.>

*As she forces herself to her feet, holding her injured stump, BlackGatomon Digivolves back to Minervamon.*

L/M<What? There still isn't enough data?>

*Mervamon is forced to take cover under her sword as Beelzemon blasts her with Corona Blasters out of his right hand-cannon & bullets from his left gun.*

*Provided they make their way over to the Gizumon, they are able to scatter their ranks, however the next portals yield 2 Optimizer D-Reaper Agents, which attack them with electrified claws, as a Gatekeeper Agent begins to form around Ceresmon.*

<"Kurata's trying to ambush us & destroy us now that we're weakened!">

*Not fast enough to dodge, War Greymon attempts to block using a Terra Force, but is still swatted to the ground.*

*Crusadermon waits for LadyDevimon to do the same for them*

*Ornismon opens his mouth and blasts one of the Optimizer D-Reaper agents while Dianamon flies around the other before firing at its back*

Everyone attacks the Gizumon and D-Reaper Agents.

Cyberdramon nods and takes after Mervamon.

*LadyDevimon does.*

Th"But how will you purge Leviamon's data from her?!"

Beelzemon<You try usin' those fancy trinkets you Tamers are always draggin' 'round?>

*The severed Medulla lunges at Cyberdramon, but Beelzemon shoots it away.*

Beelzemon<I got yer back, Lizard Man!>

*Of course, him having Cyberdramon's back enables Mervamon to roll forward, slashing an energy wave at him. Also, Minervamon absorbs the severed Medulla, taking on the form of Lilithmon.*

Lilithmon<I am come once more.>

*The revived Lilithmon extends her ghost hands over the Tamers/other Digimon. She lets out a sigh as their flesh begins to atrophy, data streaming into the ghost hands, & back to Lilithmon.*

*Ceresmon is successfully surrounded in the sphere. Inside of the sphere, chaos bubbles begin to form. Because I'm a bitch & Harley didn't say anything about dodging, MagnaAngemon & Angewomon find themselves whacked down to where WarGreymon is, fending off sword strikes from Tactimon & ducking under a blast from his cannon. Daemon squares off with MagnaAngemon, blasting him with fire, while Diaboromon stretches his arms in an attempt to grab Angewomon's wings. Up above, the Optimizers prove difficult to destroy, & now that the others have been whacked away, Cherubimon grapples with 1 with its own lightning-charged hands, while the other turns to Dianamon & fires a big red laser out of its head. The Kernal Sphere similarly turns to target each of them & fires its own, even bigger, purple laser.*

*Knightmon uses Berserk Sword to send a few energy blasts at the reborn Lilithmon. Lyra stumbles to her feet*

*Dianamon dodges the laser blasts then fires some arrows at the Optimizer in response. Ornismon also attempts to dodge the attacks coming his way before firing at the Kernal Sphere*

Hideki: "I couldn't save either of them...."

Cyberdramon roars and barrels towards Lilithmon, claws extended.

MagnaAngemon opens up Heaven's Gate to draw the flames in and if lucky Daemon for the second bloody time.

Hitomi swipes the Cocytus Breath card which Angewomon blasts Diaboromon with.

Sakuyamon wreathes the sphere in fire.

L<Save whom from what? Mervamon & Minervamon were, after all, my servants. My return is all that they should have ever dreamed of.>

*Lilithmon summons the ghostly hands to form around her like a shield.*

*LadyDevimon fires a Darkness Wave at LeviaMervamon.*

D<Shut up!>

L/M<Well, THAT was certainly clever. Are you sure you're not dragging your partner down?>

*LeviaMervamon rolls to avoid. Glancing over her shoulder, she uses her sword to block several shots from Beelzemon. Thiera puts a hand to her right cheek, which is red & cracked from Lilithmon's rotting attack. Some of the hair at her temple is also falling out. The other humans sport similar injuries where their flesh was exposed. LadyDevimon turns to her, but Thiera waves her off.*

Th"I'm fine! We can use the D-Powers to shield ourselves, you just focus on stopping Leviamon & Lilithmon--& don't listen to their taunts or threats, they're just trying to goad you!"

*With the other Digimon attacking from inside, the sphere breaks open & Ornismon is able to fly out. However, the ring around it separates into pieces, the armored plates flying to surround Ceresmon while the eyeballs follow & shoot lasers. As 1 Optimizer continues to fight Cherubimon, the other, with 3 arrows in its chest, performs a spinning attack on Ornismon, Sakuyamon, & Dianamon, with its electrified arms.*

Daemon<Activate Program: Super Speed!>

*Daemon then strafes behind MagnaAngemon, shooting fire. Diaboromon counters with a blast from his chest, the resulting explosion sending both him & Angewomon flying back. Angewomon rams into Daemon, knocking him over. He retaliates by releasing a wave of flame from all over his body, emerging from his cloak.*

Tactimon<Do you really think you can outlast me?>

<"If not, I'll just overpower you!">

Tactimon<What an absurd strategy!>

*She grabs his next strike with both claws, performing the same overheating move that she used on Jupitermon to break his sword.*

<"Is it? I noticed that you need this for most of your attacks!">

Tactimon<Wait, don't--!>

*But she doesn't heed his warning, & out of the broken sword pours an expanding ball of lightning that quickly consumes both Digimon, cracking the earth underneath them as it expands.*

*Dianamon flies over the Optimizer and fires at whatever looks like its head. Ornismon takes off after Ceresmon and fires on the eyeballs*

*Knightmon flies forward and slashes at LeviaLilithmon. Lyra tries to shield herself with her d-power*

Hideki uses his D-Power to shield himself.

Cyberdramon tries to rip through the shield with Desolation Claw.

Sakuyamon sics fox spirits on Daemon while Angewomon attempts to shield herself as MagnaAngemon moves in to swing at it with the the Excalibur.

*He is not successful. After he's wasted some energy, the hands part slightly to allow Lilithmon to extend her arm, stabbing at his abdomen with the Nazer Nail, trailing dark energy. LeviaMervamon of course uses her tornado attack to knock her attackers away. Lady Devimon flies nearby.*

LD<If we coordinate our attacks, we should be able to immobilize her, take her weapons, & hold her down long enough to be exorcised by a D-Power!>

*Daemon uses his wing to beat away the fox spirits from the Sakuyamon who can't seem to decide which enemy she's focusing on. Grabbing MagnaAngemon's arm with both hands, he decides to throw him into the expanding explosion & get the Hell out of Dodge. Diaboromon similarly leaps away from that shit.*

*Up above, WarGreymon flies out of the explosion, degenerating into Euryale & MetalGreymon, who looks a bit worse for the wear, the missile launcher doors all banged up, his armor scratched, & a horn & claw broken off.*

E"If we could survive that explosion, so could Tactimon--there!"

*She points & he fires missiles at the wounded Bio-Hybrid as he attempts to flee the scene. Meanwhile, the Optimizers finally dissolve into red goop, but Ornismon proves unable to destroy the eyeballs. As they blast chunks off of Ceresmon's wings, she begins to fall to the ground.*

Sirenmon<Let's begin, a song of hopes that swell & soar! Please join us, we will fill each other with strength & vigor!>

*Knightmon nods, flies over, and uses Berserk Sword when Cyberdramon and LadyDevimon attack*

*Dianamon flies after Tactimon, firing arrows at his head. Ornismon stops his attack long enough to stare at the Sirenmon*

*The next portal opens, Megidramon emerging with 4 Gizumon.*

Megidramon<How about never?>

*As the Sirenmon chorus begins, Megidramon blasts fire at Ornismon. 2 Gizumon flank her while the other 2 join the eye things in blasting Ceresmon. When the dust clears from MetalGreymon's & Dianamon's attack, Malkuth & a Digi-Egg are left behind. When the explosion starts to disappear into a hole it's ripped into the sky, MetalGreymon follows.*

E"Handle things here, I want to make sure we stop Tactimon!"

*Daemon twists around, lobbing a few fireballs while in flight. Diaboromon finds a safe spot to land & fires on Angewomon.*

*He needs it, since he never dodged the Nazer Nail. After he's degraded to Champion, Lilithmon grabs his throat, holding him down, & continues attacking. Thiera rushes to LadyDevimon's aid.*
