Episode Twelve: The Man Who Laughs

R"I can see that."

*Guilmon groans as Euryale finally gets him to wake up. She then turns her attention on Lalamon, tucked tightly under Aroma's arm. Dorumon heads back over.*

*Terriermon jumps off Eve's shoulder and lands near Kylie and crew. he jumps on Cameron's lap and tugs on one ear*

<(Hey, wake up!)>

*Cameron opens and rubs his eyes, staring at Eve and Roatha*

Renamon doesn't leave the two as that's just unsafe. Although whether or not a skeleton will pop out is anyone's guess.

R"I don't like the idea of trying to find whatever did this in the dark, but I don't like the idea of leaving it out here without knowing what it's capable of either."

Cameron:<(What's going on?)>

Eve:<(It appears we are not alone here.)>

*Wide eyed, he starts waking up Lunamon, Biyomon, and Kylie*

Taiyo is apparently free to still sleep, totally oblivious of the spooky rocks. Alternatively, I presume they do eventually wake everyone up.

Azuma: "What's happening?"

Eve:<(Something's in the cave. It's moving rocks around.)>

OOC: The point was to let the humans sleep, with the Digimon acting as guards, unless danger actually showed up, but whatever.

There's nothing beyond themselves in the cave as the rocks are outside, so now they look like assholes.

The fire that was never going to last long goes out audibly like someone blowing out a candle.

Taiyo flicks her flashlight on while Azuma winds his up and shines it around, showing that it's still just them in the cave.

E"She means just outside of the cave."

R"We don't know what or where it is."

*Eve looks kind of embarrassed*

<(Yeah, sorry.)>

Taiyo and Azuma shine their flashlights around, still no sign of anything that wasn't there to begin with.

The fire erupts, illuminating the cave the words HAHA HAHA HAHA scrawled all over top to bottom in red in a manner that looks like blood.

Azuma: "It's not safe here."

E"It's not safe anywhere, unless we kill this jerk!"

*Kylie, Lunamon, and Biyomon all stand up, Kylie still looking half asleep and worried*

Eve:<(We can't kill something we can't detect!)>

Azuma: "We do know where to find him."

*Euryale makes a fist.*

E"Then let's go get him!"

R"We'll probably be down Dorumon. He hasn't slept."

E"He can sleep on the wa--waah--waaaaaaaaah--"

*She now uses her fist to cover her gaping mouth.*

R"And neither have we."

Eve:<(We can't face him without sleep. The digimon need to read before they can digivolve again. We need to find a way to rest.)>

Unfortunately for them, their choices are quite limited to a scary-ass cave or maybe go out in the dark and build an igloo.

Cameron:<(So...do we stay or go?)>

Azuma: "Neither does us much good."

E"Well, we have to do something!"

Eve:<(I hate to say it, but I think we should stay. We need to rest, and it looks like Piedmon just wants to mess with us at the moment.)>

Azuma: "Whoever the second watch was supposed to be should do that."

*Cameron nods, then he, Kylie, and their partners sit back down and almost immediately fall back asleep*

Fast forward to some point in time, the only indication that time has passed being the clocks on the Digivice as it is still hellishly dark outside the cave.

The fire continues to burn, the initial HAHA HAHA HAHA from before having been replaced with the word "zugzwang," although no one who may have been awake at the time recalls this happening.
