The War of Paradigm City

Zell furrowed her brow, "That is most odd..."

Vega:<If one can be summoned from a hangar to the dam in Paradigm-2, I don't see why they can't be called from anywhere else. And maybe they've been magically repaired as well.>

"I doubt magic has anything to do with this, but I won't deny something unnatural is going on. I still don't exactly know how we all got here, for instance."

T"I think we should be less concerned about fairies & elves & more concerned about what's been going on since we were away."

*Basilisk drills through the floor, making itself an imprompteu staircase to the Megadeuses below.*

Vega:<Faeries and elves have yet to be mentioned. But I wouldn't doubt they have something to do with anything.>

"Agreed, the sooner we get out of here, and get up to speed, the better."

*Once everyone piles into their Megadeus & gets out onto the surface, they see that there hasn't actually been much more devestation since the attack of Behemoth.*

L"Clearly, we need to determine whether or not Barbatos was disposed of. What are you doing?"

*Thiera is fiddling with her briefcase TV.*

T"The sonar signals from the drills are relayed to the briefcase in the same manner as TV stations are broadcasted. I figure, if I adjust the frequency...there we are."

*On Thiera's screen, as well as on a screen inside each Megadeus, the news channel comes up. The story is called "The Hunt For Barbatos." The anchorwoman talks about how Paradigm-2 has been occupied by the Paradigm City military, but is facing severe riots, & about how Barbatos escaped into the subway tunnels after the battle. She goes on to say that she's sent several letters to police detailing her plans to assassinate President Vera Ronstadt & take control of both cities.*

"Should we check the subway tunnels for her?" Zell asked.

T"I doubt she's there. I think she's working with Aamon."

OOC: Oh fuck, yea. He was the dick who told her she was a tomato. I literally can't remember more than a page back in this RP, which is weird since I actually do like it.

Zell ground her teeth at the mere mention of his name, "Does that mean we're going to go after him too?" She asked, slightly hopeful.

OOC: She met Aamon! He shot Lilith in the head!

Vega:<Aamon is who?>

T"He's a scientist who was working on memories. According to what he told Zell here, he created several clones of humans, which have memories the originals don't have access to. More recently, he's been spending his time flooding the tunnels with genetic abberations & trying to kill my android."

Vega:<Interesting. I guess.>

"It isn't interesting at all! It is horrific! And twisted!"

L"But I think the pattern fits. So far, all of the people who sought out Megadeuses have been related to Aamon. And they all seem to want to either destroy or take over Paradigm City. Perhaps, instead of separate threats, we've been dealing with one group that has a common goal."

"That being what?"

L"It would seem to be the conquest or destruction of Paradigm City."

T"Not necessarily. From what I remember of Schwarzwald's crazed rantings, tearing down the establishment was only one thing he wanted."

*Lilith's eyes roll back into her head & there's a noise like rewinding before they snap back into place.*

L"That is correct. He also spoke of knowledge & memories. So perhaps they are all united in their desire to obtain memories from before 40 years ago."

"Then that would mean they need tomatoes, I mean... um, those with the memories from before then."

L"Not necessarily. Eventually, there will come a point where no one living could possibly have access to those memories. They will most likely require a more efficient method."

Zell let out a small sigh of relief, "That is good to know, anyway, what do you think that method may be?"

Vega:<Surely there are other methods of obtaining those memories. Of course they'd be much more insane such as reading a book.>

T"We have a librarian here. She can attest to the fact that there are almost no written artifacts from prior to 40 years ago on record. A few titles of missing tomes & whatever is in Metropolis is all there is, as far as I know. And I did not even know about Metropolis until today."

L"Neither did I. Even with the substantial amount of information I obtained from the Paradigm computers."

"So, books are out of the question," Zell said, "No surprise there."

"Archives."

Vega:<Eh? Oh, right. The library has an archives section. Couldn't tell you what's in it aside from a floorplan of the building, but it's an idea.>
