Sab shrugged, "I'm not really sure what to think."

Mortal looked confused, "What key of twilight thing?"

Noct begins to make her way over towards the other portal.

Thiera: It was on the message boards. But "an item that surpasses the system" can't really exist. After all, why would you program an item that renders your product useless?

Euryale: Well, I was thinking it could be some sort of test item. Like a sword that kills any monster in one hit, or a spell that opens Protected Areas. When Harald disappeared, who knows what was patched over, & forgotten.

*The group descends the stairs into the next basement level.*

*The portal lets out a giant crab.*

*The dead crab dissipates, & Monudon levels up.*
========================================
*A giant, headless knight with an equally giant sword approaches from behind. Its skull can be seen in its free hand.*

Monudon:[ALRIGHT!]

*Monudon starts walking in whatever direction he was going in*

Blake: [Haven't seen one of those before....]

*He dodges out of its way.*

Sab nodded, "Oh yea, that actually makes sense. Most games have a so called 'secret room'. It usually has every item in the game, including the dev tools they use to help test the game. Not sure how anyone could get it though, I heard that for MMO's they only put stuff like that on a separate server. So many things would have to go wrong for a player to get something like that."

Noct does her four hit combo again.

*The monster watches Blake be a spaz, then raises its arms above its head, clanging them together. Two skulls drop out of the sky over Blake's head.*

Euryale: Well, it was the first game the programmer had actually made. Then he disappeared mysteriously. But I don't know much else about it.

*They come to a cross-shaped room with a Magic Portal in the center. The Portal opens, producing a treasure chest.*

*Monudon eventually runs past a tiled spire with a cross on top buried in snow. At the base, a White Cherry turns towards him.*

*The crab roars, being knocked off of its balance. It scrabbles to find its footing.*

Noct slashes again.

"I guess that is true," Sab said, "Still a bit dumb though. I'm sure someone else works on the game now. They could have tied up the loose ends."

As they're talking Mortal went off to open the chest.

Hector took a large slash at the Wyrm and then tried to dash out of fire range.

*Monudon goes over and picks up the cherry, then looks to see what else is around*

*Blake moves out of the way and then pulls out his axe, taking a swing at the monster.*

*Hector isn't quite fast enough, & sustains moderate damage from the swath of fire. The other two receive much heavier damage as they continue attacking.*

Zalera: Shit!

Luna: Use La Repth!

Zalera: When did I get that?!

Luna: Use it!

Zalera: La Repth...

*As he's charging, the Wyrm bites Luna, putting her into critical condition.*

*The cherry-picker sees several other buried rooftops, similar, but smaller & without the cross. There's also a giant snowman in the distance. Between the darkness & the heavy snowfall, it's impossible to tell what's at the base of all of them.*

*The crab finally rights itself & swings a claw at her.*
=======================================
*A strange claw on a long, thick, flexible red extension emerges & stabs into Mortal with i4 blades & one central point. "Battle Mode" begins scrolling across the screen.*

Thiera: What's going on!? That doesn't look like a trapped treasure chest!

Euryale: Of course, it's a Mimic--they always have stronger monsters on the last floor of the dungeon.

*Euryale rushes to Mortal's aid.*

*The monster is still standing several feet away, so it just uses its spell again.*

*Monudon starts off in the direction of the snowman*

*Blake evades again by running in the direction of the monster, and then hacks at it with his axe when he finally gets close enough.*

Noct parries the claw then counterattacks.

Sab uses a Ol Repth on Mortal to get her healed up. Mortal retaliates with a downward slash, "Mimics suck!"

*There is a stone pillar near its base, around which sits 3 White Cherries.*

<White Cherry! ...White Cherry!>

*Noctis is unable to attack back, on account of being knocked down by the attack, though she successfully avoids damage.*

*The Mimic sprouts insect-like legs from its base & attempts to scurry away, but Mortal stops it.*

Euryale: They're also fond of status attacks.

*Euryale stabs the Mimic, then somersaults, slashing downward on it. Thiera lets loose a Rue Rom.*

*The second skull cracks him on his own. When he attacks the monster, the monster parries with its sword & aims a kick at him.*

*Monudon goes and picks up the three cherries*

Monudon:[I sure am finding a ton of grunty food today.]

*Blake brings his axe back to block and cuts at the leg.*

Noct stands back up and slashes the crab again.

Sab uses a Juk Rom, and Mortal slashes at the mimic once again.

*The block was unsucessful. The monster roars & slashes downwards with its sword.*

*Now near death, the monster raises its claws & waves them, charging another spell.*
------------------------------------------------------------------
*The snowman's arm falls off, which is a lot like a tree falling towards her.*
=====================================
*The lid opens to attack Mortal again. The remains of the water spinning around the monster form into a puddle, which then bursts up under it as an ice spike. Euryale hacks at it 3 quick times in succession.*

Euryale: We've almost got it.

Mortal tried to recreate the attack Euryale just did while Sab uses a Ol Repth on Mortal to heal her again.

Noct slashes at the crab four times in an attempt to kill it before it put her to sleep.

Hector spun around and dived at the Wyrm, firing a few stabs and slashes at it.

Alto patted Kelphy on the head, "Anywhere you do"

*Monudon turns and runs away from the snowman*

*The arm lands where Monudon was a moment ago, kicking up a large cloud of snow.*

*The crab slumps to the ground. When it fades away, it leaves behind a treasure chest.*

*The Mimic dies, but Sab is out of SP.*

OOC: I'll do levels at the end of the dungeon, like a boss.
=======================================
*The Wyrm turns gray, falls to the ground, & disappears. The words "All Field Portals Open" scroll across the screen.*

~Hector, Zalera, & Luna are each awarded a Recovery Drink!~

Monudon:[That was a close one.]

*Monudon goes over to inspect the fallen arm*
