Year One

Back at the office, William goes about getting the dog out of the kennel and taking him inside to get all the paperwork done up and put elsewhere.

George: "Found him, eh? Didn't take long at all. The others are still out on their respective jobs."

*Eve starts stretching out, waiting for the teacher*

Dalia and Jin continued to wait in their classroom.

"Yeah, well...guess we just have luck on our side."

Fast forward to noon hour when most of the students are swarming the cafeteria while others leave because the roast beef isn't as good as the crowd would like you to believe, but it's better than leftover meat loaf.

Azuma: "Think I'd rather go without than have either option. Not to mention the lesser options aren't much better either."

Mimiru: "You go through this routine everyday. Just bag a lunch, stupid."

Meanwhile, Taiyo is struggling through the crowd, tin Hello Kitty lunchbox in hand trying to find an open table.

The humane society staff completed their assignments and are out to lunch. Those that left anyways. George is in the office doing some paperwork while William is sitting on the rotted picnic table out back that's the designated break area.

*Ven never stays on-site for lunch, & is out somewhere eating a cheap burger.*

*Aroma can be found at the closest thing to a vegetarian option, even if that's just a salad bar.*

*Thiera is sitting at a table near the window, alone & eating roast beef.*

Dalia sat alone, eating a very modest packed lunch, while Jin sat near to a group of people who she knew from classes, and ate a large packed lunch.

Taiyo finds herself at Thiera's table while Azuma and Mimiru sit at the end of it.

Taiyo: "Hi. Mind if I sit with you?"

Azuma pokes a ceaser salad with his plastic fork.

Azuma: "I admire their attempt and making the dressing from scratch, but do they really need to use a gallon of vinegar? Not to mention the unspun romaine. I need to ring it out if I want my face to stay dry when eating."

Mimiru: "You worked in a resturant for two months and suddenly you're a culinary expert."

Azuma: "I'm entitled to be a little pretentious."

On the television set mounted to a far wall, a news broadcast is airing.

Reneé: "The police stand off with suspected crystal meth manufacturers came to a close when police finally broke perimeter and breached the apartment the manufacturers were holding up in. Three men were found having been viciously assaulted. One of the apprehended suspects claims it was a faceless man in a trench coat. No officers on the scene are available for comment."

Azuma: "Faceless man in a trench coat? Were they cooking meth or using it?"

Mimiru: "Probably one of those costumed heroes that were big awhile back."

George leaves his office and goes looking around for somebody on sight, finding William.

George: "Got a call about a dog named Jake matching the description of the one you and Ven brought in. The owners are on their way. You wanna fetch the dog while I grab the neccesary forms?"

William: "Yeah, sure."

A Mutant Busters van passes Ven. As do three teenage males dressed in identical spiked and studded leather jackets of different colors. One red, another green, and the last yellow. They're each wearing a visor of sorts like Cyclops from X-Men.

The one in green has a .38 strapped to his thigh as plain as day.

Red: "Check out the chicken legs in fur."

Yellow: "Chicken legs in fur, slice and dice."

The one in yellow produces a switchblade from his coat pocket.

Green: "How's our quota? Boss says don't return to base until it been filled."

*For a while, Thiera just kind of stares at the 2 who just sat down & started being obnoxious. Then she turns to Taiyo.*

T"Sure. The more the...merrier."

*Aroma, who was passing by, apparently takes that as an invitation & sits on her other side, smiling broadly.*

A"Hi. It's great to have met you, I usually just sit alone, or with a group of girls who don't look like they'll notice me."

*Ven flings what's left of her burger at the face of the one with the knife, sliding it apart as she goes so he becomes blinded by a spread of lettuce, tomato, bun, patty, & Gods know what else. While he's distracted, she takes a few quick steps forward & punches him in the face hard enough to send him into the one with the gun & probably break his visor. In the same motion, she jumps on them & continues beating their faces in. It might be an effect of head trauma, but they think she might be licking her teeth.*

Dalia and Jin ate their food. Dalia found it easy to finish her small lunch and then began walking around the more quiet areas within the school.

Taiyo: "Aww, that's terrible. You can always sit with me."

Azuma: "Man, this is intolerable. What do you have?"

Azuma begins rummaging through Mimiru's lunchbag until taking a fork to the wrist.

Mimiru: "Nothing for you, mutt."

Taiyo: "Those two fight like a deranged married couple."

The two look at Taiyo in horror, Azuma wincing when Mimiru withdraws her fork, small droplets of blood forming.

Azuma: "That was uncalled for."

Not much of the main floor is quiet due to groups of students scattered about.

Male Student: "Did you hear the police are still pinned down by some Tyranno Boys?"

Male Student Two: "Why don't they just call the National Guard in or something. God, the police have a whole division dedicated to Mutie crimes and they can't deal with a bunch of pissed off high school drop outs?"

The Tyranno Boy in yellow struggle, burger, plastic, and glass being mashed into his face. The one in green struggles into a crouching position and draws his gun levelling it as Ven while the last produces and flips open a butterfly knife.

Red: "Come on, Todd. Show her we nasty."

*Ven grabs the guy's gun hand, jerking the gun above her head, & twists his wrist until it snaps.*

T"We're seniors, we're only going to be around a few more weeks."

A"But, ah, thanks for offering."

*Seeing that Aroma looks sad, Thiera turns to her.*

T"Hey, where are you going to college? Maybe we could dorm togeth--"

*Thiera & Aroma stop their conversation to look at Azumiru like they're morons, because they're acting like morons.*

Azuma speaks, his words somewhat muffled by his bleeding wrist pressed against his mouth.

Azuma: "Don't stop on our account."

Taiyo: "Oh...right."

Now it's Taiyo's turn to be sad.

The Tyranno Boy in green yells in pain, the one in red taking the opportunity to lunge at Ven.

*Eve eats alone, reading a pile of notes. When she finishes lunch, Eve sees Dalia, and runs up to her*

Eve:<Excuse me, are you alright? I didn't have time to ask earlier.>

*She jerks back with her foot, probably kicking him in either the head or chest region.*

A"Maybe we'll see each other around?"

"Yes, thank you for your concern," Dalia replied. "And you?"

Taiyo: "Yeah. Maybe..."

Azuma: "She still has another year to go."

Mimiru: "That's true, I suppose."

The Tyranno Boy in red falls back, the one in green grabbing the gun with his remaining good hand and fires.

*Eve nods, then extends her hand*

<I'm alright. Oh, I'm Eve by the way. I see you walking all the time, but I don't think I've ever introduced myself.>

Dalia shook her hand, "I'm Dalia."

*As she would clearly see what he's doing, she would just smash down on his other wrist, repeating the process. For some reason, she is flexing her jaw.*

The bell signaling the end of lunch rings. Azuma and Mimiru get up and leave.

A ghost car pulls up on to the side walk and a male and female police officer in relatively casual clothes exit, guns drawn. The Tyranno Boy in red takes off.

Female Detective: "Manderlay PD, freeze!"

<Well, it was nice to finally meet you.>

*Eve smiles and exits the cafeteria*

*Ven freezes...with her fist pressed in a guy's face.*

A"Well...bye, then."

T"Yes. I will see you later."

"A pleasure," Dalia said quietly, adjusting her glasses. Once Eve had gone, Dalia checked her watch and then began making her way to the next class.

Taiyo: "Bye."

The male detective apprehends and cuffs the Tyranno Boy in green, exploiting his broken wrists.

Green: "Watch it, pig."

Male Detective: "Or what? You'll slice and dice me? Keep talking."

He takes note of the mess of the other guys face.

Male Detective: "Damn. Hey, Raferty, you wanna grab what's left of this one?"

Detective Raferty holsters her gun and approaches Ven and the Tyranno Boy.

Raferty: "Damn. You did this?"
