Cabin in the Woods

Hector came back to the entrance to the basement and looked past Vanessa, shining his light in there, "Something worrying you in there?"

"No," Astarte replied. "I just want to sleep now."

Eve:<I suppose we can make do. It'll mean 6 hours per group though.>

Tirea:<You should get some then. Maybe you should wait till we've figured out watch shifts.>

*Cameron continues to follow Vanessa. He waves at Hector*

*She glares at Hector, then Cameron, then Hector again. She then crosses her arms & stares down at him.*

V"Why don't you go down there & find out?"

*Nero starts towards Astarte.*

N"I'm sure Thiera understands that you've been through a lot. I'll take you to bed."

T"Oh, I understand. She can go. But you stay. You're not pushing all of this on Roatha & I."

Azuma: "Probably should've left a towel in here."

Azuma exits the bathroom, wiping his wet hands on his shirt, coming across the scene at the basement.

Azuma: "Not much down there. A fuse box, deep freeze of steaks. Taunting us because we have nothing to cook them on. Besides the stoves burner."

"No need to snap at me," Hector said, looking at Vanessa but trying not to look annoyed. "It just looked like you might be disturbed by something."
He looked to Azuma, "Oh yeah, you went down there. Are you sure that was all? Nothing loose on the floor or anything?"

Astarte rose unsteadily to her feet and rubbed her eyes.

*Vanessa fucks off while they're talking because she wants nothing to do with them. While Astarte is rubbing her eyes, she cannot see, & they end up plowing into each other.*

*Meanwhile, Nero takes to the couch, grumbling.*

T"Alright. I think we should keep a logbook. Document anything strange we notice, but isn't suspicious enough to sound the alarm."

Azuma: "Wasn't looking at the floor. Would be a viable spot for that corpse I was searching for."

Which no longer seems as funny after seeing an actual corpse. And that...thing.

Astarte took a few rapid steps back, "Sorry, sorry, really sorry."

"Well, I might as well take another look," Hector said before slowly descending.

*The stairs creak as he makes his way down, & the temperature drops by a couple of degrees. Assuming his flashlight is on, it illuminates the stairs & the floor below, the beam fading into vague shadows every time he whips around. He can see the ice box come into view as he nears the bottom.*

*Vanessa just pushes past her, wordlessly recollecting her sheets & pillow from the base of the couch. Nero sighs, & moves over to a chair.*

Astarte reddened and quickly went to her room and lay down with her face in the pillow.

Hector shone the light around the floor, looking for anything he might trip over and step on.

Azuma: "You do that, ace. After today I'd avoid it like the plague."

Azuma goes back into the living room.

Azuma: "So trench coat is first watch?"

*Nothing but packed dirt.*

T"The three of us. We're going by the rooms. Would you like to be second?"

He looked around the walls.

Eduj walked off to the basement.

Azuma: "Not really, no. I nominate what's his name in the basement and his crew."

T"Hector. Well, first come, first serve. Could you please pass the message along to him?"

*Because Hector actually looks around, he notices that there are also rows of metal shelves in the basement. Most of them are empty, but there are a few jars, boxes, empty toolboxes, & even a stack of newspapers on some. Looking at the far end of the room, he can also see a large boiler-type structure. Out of the corner of his eye, he can see a large shadow looming towards him down the staircase.*

Azuma: "Can do."

Azuma heads to the basement while Mimiru goes to Euryale and Taiyo's bedroom where Taiyo fell asleep at the side of the bed.

Azuma: "Hey, Hector."

Hector turned to face it, also turning his light, "Huh?"

*Euryale is still sleeping in the same position. It's sort of a wonder how Taiyo can sleep, because Euryale coughs after every few breaths.*

*He, of course, sees Azuma & Eduj standing atop the steps.*

"Ah, yeah?" Hector called up.

Azuma: "You and your crew are on watch next after Trench Coat & Friends."

Mimiru picks Taiyo up whose back arches due to how she was picked up, Mimiru looks away from Taiyo, her face turning slightly red and lays her down next to Euryale, covering her up with her hoodie. She quickly leaves the room.

"Okay," Hector replied. "Hey, I found some newspapers down here. We could find out roughly how old this cabin is."
He turned and walked over to the shelves, picking up some newspapers.

*Cameron heads into the basement after Hector*

Cameron:<Awesome.>

Eve:<Then we'll take the shift after.>

*Tirea nods in agreement*

*Alone in the room, Astarte can hear the cabin creak & crick as the wind pushes against it.*

*The first newspaper has a large ink spill covering most of it, so it's difficult to tell much from it. However, the date is visible, & is just a week before the accident.*

*In her sleep, Euryale turns towards Taiyo.*

Cameron:<What's it say?>

Monu:<I wonder where Cameron got to.>

*Monu heads to the basement*

Tirea:<Well, I'm going back to bed. Wake me when it's our time for watch duty.>

Eve:<Alright.>

*Tirea heads back to the room, and falls asleep*

Azuma: "Bring that shit up here."

OOC: And then coughs in her face.

Mimiru returns to her and Azuma's room where she sits on the bed.

That was strange.
