Old Ones Return (II)

*Cameron, Kylie, and their respective partners walk up*

Cameron:<Who's this?>

Kylie:<Professor Kurata.>

*Some Digimon, presumably, got too close, prompting Kurata to sneeze on him or her.*

E"He also has Digimon allergies."

*Cameron looks confused*

Cameron:<Ok?>

Lunamon:<Just go with it.>

Azuma: "So what do you intend on trying to enlist some poor soul into doing?"

Yamaki<Well, unfortunately, that little bout of unpleasantness yesterday almost cost Mr. Yamaki his job. Fortunately, I was able to strike a bargain with the higher-ups: Mr. Yamaki will remain in charge of Hypnos, however I take control of any missions into the Digital World.>

Azuma: "Oh, dear. And you want a mess of interns and a new employee to be on the next trip?"

Kurata<I want to include Tamers who know how to fight Digimon. Also, I plan to use these.>

*He pulls an orb-like device out of his coat.*

Kurata<These Space Oscillation Devices are what we used to create the Digital Gate, but they can also be used to instantly blow a hole into the fabric between worlds for a quick escape.>

T"With all due respect, Mr. Kurata, ripping holes in the space-time continuum sounds rather dangerous. What if something goes wrong?"

*Kurata looks at her sternly, more serious than he's ever looked before.*

Kurata<...Let's just say that I've experienced the risks first-hand. The devices are perfectly safe, so long as we don't exceed using a certain amount in one spot, in the space of a few minutes. To be safe, I err low. 5 or less. If used properly, the holes fuse shut in a matter of seconds. Travel between the worlds is safer than walking through an open doorway.>

T"Umm...how can they be 'safer'?"

Kurata<Simple. If the door frame collapses on you, you get hurt. Should the spatial oscillation close while you're inside of it, you'll simply appear at your destination. This is because the space you're moving through distorts with you as you travel through it. I could explain the science behind it in more detail, if you'd like.>

*DemiDevimon covers Thiera's mouh with her wing.*

D<No thanks. Magic portal takes me where I want to go. I got it. And Thiera, back up, I don't want to get sneezed on again.>

Azuma: "Don't you have trained professionals for that kind of thing? Or were the two from the docks attack the other day the only ones?"

Lunamon:<Sweet.>

Kylie:<Since we've been doing all the digimon fighting work, I'm going to say no.>

Biyomon:<You can't go anyway. Not happening!>

*Cameron silently stares at Kurata*

Kurata<We have a few, but we're running a little short. The ones who aren't on assignment should be getting back next week.>

*Kylie and Lunamon look at each other, then nod*

Kylie & Lunamon:<We'll go!>

Biyomon:<You can't! Cameron, back me up here!>

*Cameron shrugs*

Kurata<That's good to hear!>

*He turns towards Biyomon.*

Kurata<I assure you, the operation will be perfectly safe. She'll be able to get back out easily with the Space Oscillation Devices, & I plan to only make short trips into the Digital World. Additionally, I will be monitoring the whole thing from Hypnos, able to send reinforcements at any time.>

E"You're not going?"

Kurata<I'll come if there is anything that requires on-scene scientific analysis.>

E"Well, whatever. I guess, if they're going, we'll go too."

Biyomon:<But what do we tell Mrs. Sorenson tonight?>

Cameron:<Can we come along?>

*Biyomon looks angry*

Lunamon:<Yeah!>

Kurata<Just tell her that you'll be back from your job a little later than usual.>

Cameron:<She thinks we're at the library. Please can we come along?>

Kurata<Sure. I'll sign you up with Hypnos when we go inside.>

Cameron:<Awesome. Thank you professor.>

*Biyomon facepalms*

Lunamon:<This is going to be totally awesome!>

*She wiggles out of Kylie's arms and lands near Biyomon*

Lunamon:<Don't look so glum.>

Kylie:<Thank, Cameron.>

*Cameron smiles*

Salamon: "Why would you ever want to go to that hole of a world?"

Azuma: "Might be neat. What do you think, Patamon?"

Patamon: "I think Salamon's right. It's kinda sucky."

Azuma: "Might encounter Devimon."

Patamon: "So? Are you telling me this or Salamon?"

Azuma: "Salamon."

Salamon: "What do I care?"

Azuma: "Vengence, of course. Lord knows the only way to regain your honor is to best Devimon in combat."

Salamon: "Fine. But not for that stupid antiquated reason."

Taiyo: "We'll go too."

T"Hmm...alright, I'll go too."

D<What? Why?>

T"A lot of reasons. Most importantly, I want to see it."

D<You sure? I've heard it's not exactly all peaceful fields of flowers, right now.>

Azuma: "You've said nothing good about it."

Lunamon:<Yeah, this time we'll kick devimon's ass!>

*She gives Salamon a thumbs up*

Salamon: "Like I even care."

*Kurata leads them into the elevator, which then takes them down to the labs.*

Kurata<The Digital Gate is at the very end of the hall.>

*And so he walks down a long hall until they reach a dimly lit door with inactive siren lights embedded on the wall & a Digital Hazard symbol plastered over it. Kurata swipes an ID card over the door lock, & it slides open. The halogen lights in the room kick on, exposing that there's nothing inside but a computer terminal & a large arch extending from floor to ceiling, with Space Oscillation Devices embedded in it.*

*Cameron texts his Mom, letting her know that they will be home late. Lunamon and Kylie walk slightly ahead, staring at the Digital Gate*

Kylie:<So you turn it on and we walk though?>

Azuma: "Why is there no one else around? A complicated thing like this, you'd think there'd be more people around."
