The Arrival

"So, what year are you?" Mortal asked Astarte, while everyone else was more concerned with their food.

"I'm a first year."

Grimm went inside his house.

Mortal looked at Noctis as if she was robbing the cradle.

*Eve starts drinking her soda*

*Monu hangs up then dials Tirea's house*

*No one at the house answers.*

"You know, I'm not really looking forward to it. Nothing against Eve, but I was enjoying living with you."

*A shadowy figure moves to Grimm's bedroom.*

*Naturally, at some point, Nero entered the bar.*

V"God! What is with you freaks?"

N"...What?"

*She points out Hector & Eduj.*

N"Ew. Don't lump me in with them."

S"So, anyone have plans for after lunch?"

L"Yeah. Sorry, but I need to check up on Thiera. She's been really anxious about this whole thing?"

S"Anxious to do what?"

*Lilith laughs, grabbing her drink.*

L"You wouldn't believe me if I told you."

"Try us," Mortal said.

Gabe didn't really want to hear it, figuring it'd only stoke her mounting paranoia.

*Cameron finds a picnic table in the sun to sit and wait*

*Monu calls Hector back*

Astarte, unsuccessful in trying to decipher Mortal's look to Noctis, gave a slightly guilty look towards Lilith at the mention of Thiera, feeling dishonest for knowing more about the events surrounding her sister but not telling her.

"So sorry for coming to a public location to get food," Hector looked over his shoulder at Vanessa again, then felt his phone vibrate. He answered, "...Yeah?"

Grimm went straight to his bathroom and removed everything but his underpants and stood in front of the sink, then started quickly cleaning the blood and sweat off, not caring for the mess he was making on the floor.

L"Well...she'd probably get mad that I told people this, but it's just too funny to pass up: She wants to gather up her friends & take a bus to the suburbs to explore a burnt-out old orphanage that some creepy priest came from."

R"And do what?"

N"Whatever. I'm going to go hit up another bar, there's too many creepy people here."

*He turns to head out.*

Sab looked up from her salad in abject horror, "Jesus, that sounds like one of the scariest things in the world. Who on earth thought that was a good idea?"

Gabe was also a bit uncomfortable with the idea, "Are you sure it is safe?"

"What's the worst that could happen?" Mortal asked.

"Asbestos poisoning," Noct offered up.

Astarte went pink and tried to hide it by eating her food.

Once done with his clean up Grimm dried off with a towel and, leaving his blood stained clothes on the floor of the bathroom, moved into his bedroom.

"Are you alright, Astarte?" Noct asked.

Astarte nodded, mouth full.

L"It's a terrible idea, & really dangerous. That's why I told her that she'd only be allowed to do it if the police closed the investigation without finding anything."

*Nothing appears to be out of the ordinary in his bedroom, but then again, there are plenty of shadows to hide in.*

"Oh, any word on that?" Mortal asked, remembering the whole scene.

Gabe remembered as well, and realized with stunning clarity that her very recent past kinda sucked, "I hope so. The officer, uh, Jane, she seemed capable. Maybe she is close to getting it wrapped up."

Taiyo: "Yeah...but I don't think there are other options."

L"Like I said earlier, not so far. I'll have to call back after lunch."

E"Yeah. This sucks."

"Right," Gabe said after she finished her meal.

"You asked about plans after the meal before," Mortal said, looking at Senthose, "Did you have anything in mind?"

Taiyo: "We'll still have time to spend together."

*Senthose & Lilith also finish, as they didn't have much to eat.*

S"Nothing in particular."

A"Well, if we do do anything, I need to drop my stuff of back at the dorm."

*She points to her books, sitting on the table.*

S"You should be glad you have that option."

E"Yeah, I guess. I was kind of thinking of getting an apartment after college, so I didn't have to head back to the States."

Astarte's pink face was faded now, and she was finished her lunch.

Grimm changed into jeans, a white t-shirt, a flannelette shirt and a black jacket, then went out to the kitchen.

"Why, do you not?" Sab asked as everyone waited for the check.

Taiyo: "We could live together."

E"Yeah, if we've gotten this all taken care of by then."

*Aroma finishes as someone puts the bill down.*

Taiyo: "Yeah..."

She stares at her feet.
