Old Ones Return (III)

Taiyo follows Euryale out.

The other two leave as well.

*The next day, they arrive in Kurata's office to see him working on his computer. Thiera is still not there.*

Kurata<First order of business: I've analyzed the data from the feather you retrieved, & found that it matches with a Digimon in our data bank named "Azulongmon," who is one of the Sovereigns. I was able to reformat this into a card that contains arguably his most powerful attack.>

*Lunamon jumps down from Kylie's arms*

Kylie:<That's amazing.>

Azuma: "That's nifty. Saying card implies there's only one."

Taiyo: "Did you talk to Mr. Yamaki about that other thing?"

Kurata<One thing at a time, please. Yes, our agreements with the department of commerce necessitates that we only make a single card from any given datum that we obtain.>

Azuma: "We'll have to fight over who gets it."

Lunamon:<Yeah.>

Biyomon:<I'm such we can figure this out in a calm and reasonable fashion.>

*Lunamon stares at him*

E"What does it do?"

Kurata<It surrounds the Digimon with a field of energy that offers moderate defense and allows it to create lightning bolts around itself at will.>

Lunamon:<We...we could really use that.>

*Kylie glares at Lunamon*

Kylie:<Shh.>

Azuma: "I'm sure we all could."

Kurata<Well, while you make up your minds: Mr. Yamaki said that it was up to me whether or not to hire you on as part-time employees, since I am now essentially your supervisor.>

Cameron:<Oh. Well, will you hire us?>

Lunamon:<I was the one who brought the feather back.....>

Kylie:<But we didn't find it in the first place.>

*Lunamon stares at Kylie*

Lunamon:<You don't want it?>

Kylie:<I do, but I don't wanna start a fight over it.>

Azuma: "A magic trading card. More important than financial opportunities."

Kurata<I can hire you on for starting pay for a government employee.>

Taiyo: "That's terrific!"

Lunamon:<Awesome! Thanks.>

*Kylie smiles and nods*

Kurata<Now, have you decided who is going to take the card, or do I have to pick at random?>

Azuma: "Doesn't look like we have."

Kylie:<I think you should pick at random.>

*He heads over to his computer, clicks a few keys, & then walks back, handing the card to Euryale.*

E"Oh...thank you."

Kurata<Of course.>

*He then looks at Koromon in her arms. Koromon's eyes & mouth widen in horror. He falls to the ground, spitting & rolling all over the place, after catching Kurata's sneeze.*

Azuma: "What a shocking turn of events. Anyway, what peculiar place are we going to this time around?"

Kurata<Well, since our investigation has hit a dead end, I've decided to move down to another plane.>

E"Plane?"

*He spreads his arms.*

Kurata<Why, yes. In my analysis of the Digital World, I found something truly surprising: Over half of the world's data was unaccounted for. That's when I realized: I must only be surveying the very top level of the Digital World!>

*Now he holds up a finger.*

Kurata<There is only one problem. Finding a data stream to transport you there is going to take too long. So I've decided to return you to the desert & have you scout out an appropriate area through which to drill into the next plane. I've transmitted into your D-Power maps a program designed to measure the relevant data I'll need to make my decision. If all goes well, I should have the Space Oscillation Drill ready by tomorrow.>

Kylie:<Sounds simple enough.>

Azuma: "All right, let's get heading there."

*In the desert.*

E"So I guess we should split up, & survey around the different landmarks."
