Old Ones Return (IV)

OOC: It was a weeknight anyway. Taiyo needs to just calm down.

*They turn, flying over a massive waterfall. The weather over this ocean is a lot warmer, but strangely, there are holes, & cracks in the ocean, as if it were rock.*

AW<Swerve!>

*The group narrowly avoids a Data Stream that shoots down from a swirling [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] in the sky.*

T"So that's where those come from."

AW<Yes, but the one we want is over there.>

*She points to a large water spout. They can only vaguely see the light of the energy stream poking out from the tornado of water. Angewomon holds her hands out & a halo of rainbow light pushes an opening into the waterspout.*

E"Not that I'm ungrateful, but how much longer do we have to go?"

AW<You shouldn't be ungrateful, & once we've passed through this datastream, we'll be in the 3rd Zone. From there, it will be a bit of flying until the next data stream. From then on, you will be on your own.>

*Cameron stares up at the orb while Saberdramon flies though the opening*

Azuma: "What exactly is that thing up there?"

AW<You don't recognize it? That's your world. Or, at least, the part of it that touches ours. That's why we have only a small degree of control over where those data streams lead.>

*And they are now flying over a forest.*

Azuma: "Looks a lot different from here than anywhere else."

Cameron:<It's pretty amazing.>

E"I guess it would, since it's basically the representation of the internet, or something like that."

AW<What's the internet?>

E"Porn, mostly."

T"Ugh, I hate it when people oversimplify like that. The internet links the world's computers together, it has the potential for instantaneous communication, enormous information processing, it's a platform for news, self-publishing, donations, & more--globally! Just because 15-year-old boys only use it to download disturbing sex acts, that doesn't mean that's its only purpose."

AW<It's been my experience that the human race, as a whole, has not matured very much past that.>

E"Haha. You made a funny."

*After passing over the forest, they're now crossing through the remains of what looks like a city made mostly of clock towers partially consumed in a sea of some kind of shadowy substance.*

Cameron:<The internet is only like 30% porn.>

Azuma: "That looks welcoming."

AW<Fortunately, it is not our destination. This is.>

*They point to a nearby data stream, partially hidden behind a tower with a multitude of writhing stone gargoyles on its roof.*

AW<This will deposit you about 7 or 8 miles north of the base. From here on out, you are on your own.>

Cameron:<Thank you for everything.>

*Saberdramon digivolves to Karatenmon, then he flies into the stream*

Renamon flies into the stream, the other two following.

E"Land, quickly, so we're not spotted!"

T"How are we going to sneak in?"

E"I'm not sure. How does Wizardmon's magic work?"

T"It's easiest for her to cast minor spells, like making light or sound. She can control the elements fairly easily. It's harder for her to cast complex illusions, & even harder to manipulate space-time."

The three touch down, the angels looking about either for cover or hostiles.

Azuma: "So it might be a trial and error kind of thing."

Cameron:<You could create some sort of distraction, but that might be too obvious.>

D<I could turn us invisible, maybe.>

T"But that probably wouldn't mask the signs of our movement."

E"What about a sandstorm?"

Cameron:<That'd work.>

Azuma: "No better options."

D<Alright.>

*DemiDevimon jumps down, Digivolving as she goes. She pulls out slips of paper from a pocket, enough for the humans Digimon. She affixes 1 to herself, & hands out the others. A side of each is sticky, the other side has runes written on it.*

D<These will protect your eyes & lungs from the sand. Magical Game!>

*Her hands glow as she moves them about, arcs of magic energy shooting into the ground & kicking up sand. She then thrusts her right palm outward, forcing a large cloud of sand towards the base. She follows this up with her left palm, creating a large gust of wind that thrusts into the back of the storm, making it bigger & even stronger.>

*Euryale & Thiera affix their sutras to their clothes--Euryale to her stomach, Thiera to her sleeve. As they do, the sand just kind of flows around them as though blocked by an invisible wall, avoiding the space about a foot away from their immediate persons in all directions*

Taiyo puts hers on her chest while the other two stick them to their sleeves.

The Digimon all attach one to themselves.

*Cameron attaches his to his sleeve as well, while Karatenmon attaches one to his chest*

*They can hear shouting & running around as they sneak into the camp, which they can tell they've done only because their hands brush on tents.*

T"How are we going to see?"

E"We don't have to, we'll just follow the signal."

*She takes out her D-Power.*

*Cameron takes out his own and stares at it*

Please be close...

The others do the same, Taiyo sticking close to Euryale.

Azuma: "Uh, couldn't they also be doing the same?"

"Wait, something's not right here...."

*She has just noticed the numerous Digimon signals surrounding them. Just in time for Vegimon, Red Vegimon, & Weedmon to start wriggling out of the dirt all over the damn place. All of them have solid red, glowing eyes, & red blotches on their bodies. Euryale quickly slashes her armor card.*

E"Some of us will have to stay here & hold them back! Someone, fly to Kylie's rescue, then come back for us!"

*Wizardmon, Thiera, & Euryale back up until they're back-to-back. Wizardmon raises her staff.*

D<I can't Digivolve, or my spells will be broken!>

E"Then I guess you're with me. Can you fire multiple spells at once?"

D<Maybe, but I'm not sure how many.>
