Compared to Kill Em' All Daryl, Major Sergei isn't all that bad though Script. He's an interrogator. Being and looking freaky is just another way to psychologically affect his target.

I guess that is part of my issue, we are being convinced by a guy whose job it is to turn people. How can you take someone like that at their word? I still think the mother should have did it, would have made the most impact.

I don't know what Dark & Script are talking about, but I feel the need to point out that if "looking weird" was a valid interrogation technique, more cops would do that, as it is not that hard to slap on some mis-matched costume materials.

It is an anime called Guilty Crown. Only 4 episodes so far. Pretty good. Futuristic, has mechs, some a world ravaging disease that just got cured, and a shadowy medical/ militaristic organization, and, of course, a rag tag bunch of rebels. The animation is pretty damn good though, and I like the art direction.

Not really. The SEELE/Children conflict...well, let's face it, it didn't exist. There was no "ragtag group of rebels," just Gendo manipulating the fuck out of everyone else. Anyone who tried to rebel, it was all too little, too late.

Plus, one reason I like Eva is because the Evas AREN'T really mechas. As a rule, I hate mecha shows.

Also, the mechs are not really to focus. They're just a way to have faceless mooks get killed off. The big hook is that the main character can pull weapons out of different people. One was a gravity gun, the main one is a sword, and he used a kaleidoscope to reflect a shit ton of lasers once.

Still sounds pretty awful.

Most of the Geo Front already existed, it is the remains of the Egg of Lilith. That's why it rises out of the ground or some shit in End of Evangelion. It is also why plants grow there in absence of light.

Most things that were not derived from the Angels are things we could theoretically do today if we could amass the manpower & resources. The only real exception is the Magi & the technology to transplant souls. And the latter was never really explained, so "soul" could be a euphemism or it could be derived from Angelstuff.

They really aren't. The electricity is supplied to move the muscles because their cores aren't supposed to work. Of course, Unit 01 defied this a few times, & eventually solved the problem altogether.

Other "mechanical" aspects include the armor, which was shown to be only skin-deep, & the entry plug, which is basically just a circuit breaker jammed in their spines to control the signals for movement.

The closes analogy would be Deadpool, from Origins of Wolverine. He's controlled by a signal, & he's been modified with all of these weapons, but he's essentially less of a robot & more of a reanimated corpse.

Then you don't know very far. The Instrumentality Project is all about uniting humanity. If you think about it, the Organization was motivated largely by regaining individuality. That wasn't an interpretation that was stressed by the game, but it is the natural consequence of having distinct personalities & emotions, which the Nobodies are said to just imitate, rather than actually possess. And the last thing Xemnas wants is to fade into the Sea of Tang.

There is also the fact that saying, "if we could just have the manpower" is a weak argument. We could create a Lunar colony right now if we had the money, we know how, we tested shit like it, but if I saw a lunar colony in an anime I'd call it futuristic.

If we can make a lunar colony, which we only could under the most tenuous definition of a colony, then it's obviously not futuristic. How the fuck can technology be "futuristic" if it exists in modern times? That's more in line with "alternate timeline" than "the future."

It's a 38 volumes long manga which is in some ways similar to Bleach, they fight plenty, but the fights and battles generally contributes more to the story than they seem to do in Bleach. It became a 26 episodes anime, which unfortunately is rather different from the manga. Some characters aren't in it and then there is an anime-only character. Anyway, you can always look at Wikipedia for more information about this story, especially if you like shounen manga/anime which takes place in feudal Japan.

The only thing futuristic about Evangelion was Tokyo-3/the GeoFront, the Evas, Jet Alone, and the positron rifle. Hell, the last one is a stretch as it's comparable to a railgun which is not at all in the future.
