Cabin in the Woods

Taiyo: "I think some of the others are on it."

Stefan and Hector just stared out into the dark, Stefan notably more distressed than Hector. Eduj entered the living room a moment later, "Is there a problem?"

If Thiera was paying any attention to Astarte, she would notice that she was quietly mumbling about 'home' and 'father' in her sleep.

*And the abyss stares back. Nero wordlessly turns to the kitchen. He jumps slightly, dropping his flashlight with a loud clatter, & it goes out.*

"It doesn't sound like it's going well."

*Euryale throws the covers off of her & starts to climb out of bed.*

Hector, Stefan and Eduj all turned to look at Nero.

*Monu, Cameron, Eve, and Tirea also turn to face Nero*

Not wanting to be left alone in a creepy room of a creepy cabin, Taiyo climbs out of bed and begins fishing around on the floor for her pants.

N"Shit."

*Nero fishes around on the floor for his flashlight & starts screwing it back together. Euryale emerges from the hallway with her own flashlight.*

E"What's going on out here?"

"Vanessa has disappeared from the couch, the front door was left open and Nero just dropped his flashlight," Hector replied, sounding quite damning when he mentioned Nero.

*Cameron breathes a sigh of relief*

Cameron:<For a second there, I thought something was behind us.>

Eve:<She probably ran out for something.>

N"Or you're all a bunch of idiots who haven't thought to check the kitchen. Particularly Hector."

*Euryale heads over to the door & points her flashlight around, searching for something. When she points it down, she grimaces.*

E"Ugh! What is THAT?"

*Eve and Cameron go over to Euryale, and Cameron points his flashlight down at wherever Euryale is looking*

Cameron:<What did you find?>

Monu:<Let's not resort to name calling. We were looking in the direction the noise came from.>

Having found her pants and put them on, Taiyo comes out to see what's going on. Azuma and Mimiru follow.

Azuma: "Someone find that corpse and that's why you're all shouting at...whatever time it is."

"How was I supposed to know you were looking at the kitchen while I looked outdoors?" Hector grumbled quietly while walking over to the kitchen. Stefan remained at the front door, looking apprehensively in the direction of the kitchen.

*Vanessa is sitting on the floor, shivering against the cabinets. Her knees are drawn up to her chest, arms wrapped around them, & eyes open wide. What Cameron sees is a dead fox that has been laid on their doorstep, with empty sockets where its eyes used to be. It is positioned with its legs forced underneath it, & its tail bent rigidly so it sticks up in the air. Almost as though a dog might greet someone who just came home. If said dog had no eyes.*

"Uh," Hector was lost for words, for once. "...Uh..."

Azuma: It's a corpse.

Azuma: "Yeesh."

Taiyo stays the hell away from the door. And living room area.

V"That...thing."

E"Someone get over here & give me some light. We're gonna have to drag this thing off into the woods."

N"What, you're seriously going out there?"

E"It doesn't look like there's anything there, & even if there is, I'll be on the lookout for it. I can take care of myself."

*Cameron points his flashlight directly at the fox*

Cameron:<Another than missing eyes, it doesn't appear hurt.>

Eve:<It could have died of fright then.>

Cameron:<Maybe. But I agree, we should get rid of this thing. Right away.>

*Tirea and Monu rush over to Vanessa*

Tirea:<Are you hurt?!>

"Nobody is going out there by themselves," Hector said firmly after finding his voice again. He picked up the fox and began walking to the door. "Come on."
Eduj followed him.

*Euryale makes it a point to stay right the fuck where she is, crossing her arms & glaring out of the door disapprovingly. Nero comes up & pats her on the shoulder. Meanwhile, Vanessa waves her arm to keep people from getting too close to her, but doesn't answer. As Hector carries the fox, he notices that it's missing clumps of fur.*

"Gross," Hector said quietly, deciding to ignore Euryale's displeasure. He spoke up a moment later, "Somebody follow me with a flashlight, please."
Stefan decided to approach Vanessa as well, but much more slowly than Tirea. When only just in arms reach, he squatted down and looked her in the eyes with genuine concern.

Mimiru follows Taiyo who returned to the bedroom.

Taiyo: "This is horrible."

Mimiru: "Yeah. But don't worry, you'll be fine. ...The one you're bunking with will look out for you, right?"

Taiyo: "Euryale. Yes. Well, I guess. I feel better when she's around."

Mimiru: "Right. And tell you what, if there's ever a reason she can't, I will."

Taiyo: "Thanks..."

Mimiru: "Mimiru."

Taiyo: "C-can I call you Mimi?"

Mimiru: "Sure..."

*Being in arm's reach proves to be a mistake, as he gets socked in the face. As Nero & Euryale have formed the Coalition of Piss on Hector, neither one steps forward.*

Stefan took the punch and went from squatting to sitting, pushed back a few inches. He rubbed the resulting bruise and spoke softly, "I'm not going to hurt you, I won't even touch you. Please don't hit me again. I just want to help out."

Azuma: "I'd offer to help, but I can see me getting blacklisted because I pissed off the popular girls and it might not be a good idea to alienate anymore people. Or be alienated."
