Cabin in the Woods

N"We plan to use this thing as a shelter! It's completely retarded to put a hole in it! Besides, we're done anyway."

*Eventually, they manage to clear away enough of the bush that the door is no longer obscured. The rustling & screaming abruptly stop.*

Astarte waited for Nero to open the door while Hector, Eduj and Stefan all began to come towards it.

*And so the door does open outward, with a slight groan. Nero goes inside, turning on his own flashlight. Sweeping the beam over the place, it can be observed that the front of the cabin is a combination living room/kitchen. The living room features a small red couch & a trio of wooden chairs around a pair of crates meant to act as a table. A countertop separates it from the kitchen. The back wall has a doorway into some hallway or small room.*

Astarte followed close after Nero, followed by Eduj while Stefan and Hector waited just outside and to the right of the door to let the others in.

The trio walk in, Azuma looking around the main room.

Azuma: "Cozy. Who wants to bet on the decayed remains the last occupant being present?"

*As more people walk in, something that wasn't apparent from the level of light begins to make itself known--the footsteps kick up an obnoxious cloud of dust that obscures the flashlight beams like smoke, & causes irritation to the eyes, throats, & noses of those inside.*

T"Well, clearly, this place hasn't been inhabited in a very long time."

N"Yeah...ch...big help."

The trio cover their faces as they cough.

Azuma: "Gives some...ch...credibility to my theory about the last...ch...being dead."

*Eve and Tirea enter in front if Monu and Cameron*

Tirea:<I'm so glass I don't have a dust allergy right now.>

*Monu looks around for a light switch or some other source of light*

OOC: Even if you don't have a dust allergy, a large amount of dust in the air still causes irritation. Because it's a giant cloud of dirt blocking your eyes & airways.

*There is, in fact, a light switch to the right of the door. Nero, meanwhile, covers his face & braves the duststorm long enough to get to the hallway. By now, some of the dust is spilling over the outside area, like a light fog.*

OOC: I know. Wouldn't help though.

*Monu covers his face and goes over to push the light switch, Cameron following him. Eve and Tirea stick their faces outside, coughing*

Cameron:<I hope we can stay here tonight.>

Monu:<We'll...have to clean.>

*A light bulb embedded into the ceiling of the living room comes on, so that the layer of dust covering everything, like a fine snow, is clearly visible. Also visible is a plain brown fur rug, covering most of the wood floor of the living room, and a painting on the far wall that's so worn, it's impossible to tell what it once depicted. Outside, Vanessa & Thiera step back, while Euryale clicks off her flashlight, covers her face with her arm, & heads inside. Thiera turns to face the forest.*

E"Looks like each room has its own switch. Or the rest of the bulbs are just blown out."

*Nero comes back from the hallway with a handful of small towels, clicking off his flashlight. The towels all have frayed edges & holes in them.*

N"This place has electricity?"

E"Looks like it. Though I can't say from where, or for how long we'll have it."

Azuma: "You'd think there wouldn't be."

N"Well, I guess it does make a little bit of sense. They don't have a chimney, so they can't build a fire in here. Have to keep warm somehow."

E"Who's 'they'?"

N"I don't know, it's just that there's a bunch of doors in the back, which I assume are bedrooms. Or they're all closets, like the one I got these from. Incidentally, catch."

*He throws a towel at Euryale, which lands on her shoulder. He then tosses another in Mimiru's direction.*

Monu:<Well, it's nice to have it while we do.>

Cameron:<Did you anything we could use to get rid of the dust back there?>

*Eve and Tirea come back in, coughing*

Eve:<Electricity? Maybe there's also a phone here.>

Tirea:<If there is, I kinda doubt it works.>

*Eve looks around to see if there is some kind of phone around*

N"No way, there are no power lines up here, nothing to hook a land line up to. Now catch."

*He throws towels at Eve & Tirea.*

*Eve and Tirea grab the towels*

Tirea:<Thanks!>

Eve:<Thanks. You're probably right. It'd sure solve a lot of our problems though.>

*Eve holds the towel up to her face, and Tirea has done the same. She, Monu, and Cameron start rummaging around for something to get rid of the dust with, like a broom*

*The pair are treated to an awful mildewy smell as Nero stares at them like "What the fuck are you doing?" Euryale picks the towel off of her shoulder & looks from it to Nero & back.*

E"Are you trying to get us to dust?"

N"This one's got it."

*Eve looks embarrassed*

Eve:<Oh. I suppose that would make much more sense.>

*Eve and Tirea start dusting, while Monu and Cameron come over*

Monu:<Got any more towels?>

N"Sure, be my guest."

*He hands them each a towel, & now has 2 left.*

*Monu and Cameron join Eve and Tirea cleaning*

Monu:<Are you guys going to join us?>

Tirea:<So..push the dust out the door...or?>

N"Just throw them away, we don't need them for anything. And I'm sure there's a trash can around here somewhere."

*Thiera & Vanessa reluctantly enter the house & shut the door. Afterwards, Nero throws them the remaining pair of towels, which both land on the floor, Vanessa because she didn't even try to grab it, & Thiera because she wasn't expecting it, & fumbled it.*

Tirea:<What about you? Aren't you going to help?>

*Tirea smiles, making it clear she was mostly kidding. Monu and Cameron continue to clean, while Eve stands up and stretches*

"Well, is there anything we can do?" Stefan asked, as he stood with Hector and Eduj. Astarte leaned against a wall and looked down at the floor with a pained expression, having just stopped sneezing and coughing.

N"No."

*Nero heads over to Astarte, looking sympathetic.*

N"Are you alright?"

*Roatha approaches Stefan, glancing at Nero & sighing.*

R"I suppose we should explore the place. See if we can find more lights, or these corpses what's-his-name's so worried about."

*With that, Roatha heads to the kitchen where a resentful-looking Thiera is dusting the countertop with Euryale's help. Vanessa has made no move to pick up the rag. A second later, a light comes on in the kitchen, exposing a built-in gas stove, a sink, a fridge, & plenty of cabinet space. Roatha opens one of the cabinets, revealing it to be literally stuffed with rows of canned goods.*

R"What the Hell were the people in here doing, stocking up for the apocalypse?"

"I'm just tired," Astarte said, looking up at Nero with red eyes. Hector and Eduj followed after Roatha, while Stefan spotted that Vanessa did not intend to do any dusting and decided to use the rag himself.
"Possibly," Hector shrugged, taking down a can and examining it, mostly looking for some kind of date.
