Cabin in the Woods

*Vanessa scoots away from Stefan, as picking up the rag puts him close to her. Meanwhile, Roatha turns some of the cans in the cupboard.*

R"Looks like they're all non-perishables."

N"Well, we can just have some of them come back with us, & find a room to clean up for you."

"Has anybody tried to use the water or gas?" Eduj asked, heading to the sink and turning the cold water tap. Hector put the can back.
"I can help with that," Stefan said, approaching Astarte and Nero with the rag in hand. "I think we would all like to settle down, so we had better head through and clean up the rest of the cabin."

*Cold water begins pouring out of the facet. Roatha tries out the stove, with similar results.*

N"Well, there we go! I'll lead the way."

*Nero tries to put his arm around Astarte again. Outside, the screaming resumes, this time slightly muffled by the cabin walls.*

"T-thank you..." Astarte dropped her gaze again and allowed herself to be lead by Nero. She tensed slightly when the screaming resumed.
"Well, it looks like we don't have to worry about starving to death or anything for a while," Hector smiled, and Eduj turned the water off.

Azuma: "This is so contrived. Next thing you know there won't be corpses and none of that food will have gone bad."

Tirea:<(Way to be lazy. I don't understand why we don't all take turns.)>

*Eve sighs and nods her head*

Eve:<I'm sure that everyone will take their turn eventually. That lot probably just want to explore a bit first. Wanna head deeper in?>

*Tirea nods and stands up, then the pair walk into the kitchen. Monu and Cameron continue to clean this area*

R"You're complaining about the possibility that we won't die?"

*Roatha turns off the stove as Nero leads Astarte into the hallway. Once there, he opens the first door he sees & fumbles for a light switch. When the light clicks on, it reveals a plain room with a wooden cot, white mattress, & sheet. There's also a small dresser, but nothing else.*

N"Well, not exactly five-star accommodations, but at least there's a bed. Hey...there are no windows in this room."

*Eve follows the group, while Tirea stays in the kitchen*

Eve:<We could be at the back of the cabin. There weren't any window's there if I remember correctly.>

*Tirea approaches Thiera and Euryale*

Tirea:<Need any help in here? There are already 3 people working back there.>

*Tirea points back at where she came from*

Azuma: "It does sound that way doesn't it?"

Taiyo sits down in a chair that Mimiru dusted off.

Taiyo: "Is that actually a fox?"

Mimiru: "I don't know for sure if they scream or not, but it certainly is something else."

*Once she dusts off the countertop, Thiera puts a book on it & flips through a few pages.*

T"...'Many species of fox will make a call, likened to a woman's scream, when fighting for territory or trying to attract a mate.'"

R"Foxes hibernate, right?"

T"No."

R"God damn it."

*While wiping down the area around the sink, Euryale opens the door below it & finds a plain trash bin. She throws her cloth in there, as it is saturated with dust.*

Azuma: "The more you know."

Taiyo: "That's interesting...I guess."

Tirea:<Hopefully it'll stop before we try and sleep.>

Eve:<I wonder what's in the other rooms, if there are any.>

*Before too long, the whole cabin is dusted down. It's discovered that the hallway contains 5 identical bedrooms, a closet & bathroom on the other side, & a door into some kind of cellar at the end, which nobody has gone into, because fuck that.*

Monu:<So, should we divide up the bedrooms? It looks like 3-4 per room.>

Eve:<I don't see why not.>

Mimiru: "And no corpse."

Azuma: "Anyone check the basement?"

Hector and Eduj looked into a bedroom and saw Astarte sitting on the edge of a bed with Nero, her eyes almost completely closed, "Hey guys, you don't mind if we share this room, do you?"
"I don't mind," Astarte looked up at them and then back to the floor. Hector looked expectantly at Nero.
Stefan was now looking for a can opener in the kitchen.

N"I'm sure you can find another."

*As he opens drawers, he finds a few stray spoons, forks, and butter knives, but for the most part, the dishware appears to have been gutted.*

R"This place is weird enough, why the Hell would I want to go in the basement?"

*Meanwhile, Vanessa goes into the hallway to find a room.*

Hector rubbed the back of his head and looked sheepish, "We don't really know anyone else, so I figured this would be the least awkward option. If you're opposed, though..."
Giving up the search for a can opener, Stefan decided to check to see if any of the cans had ring pull openers.

Azuma: "Pirate treasure. Corpses. Mainly corpses."

R"Help yourself."

*Some do, most do not.*

N"I don't know you."

Azuma: "Don't mind if I do."

Azuma removes his flashlight from his bag and goes to the basement.

Taiyo: "Shouldn't you stop him?"

Mimiru: "No. If anything I should lock him down there."

"I'm Astarte's brother, Hector."

Stefan took a can and placed it next to the sink, then started looking for a saucepan.

N"Oh...that's lovely."

*Roatha pokes his head in the doorway.*

R"Oh, that's where you are. So, do you...want to...are you in the middle of something? I could come back."

N"No, your timing is perfect. Whatcha need, Sport?"

R"'Sport'?"

*Roatha shakes his head & steps inside, pointing out in the hall.*

R"Thiera & I were looking for someone to room with, & she said she didn't mind, as long as you were unconscious. So I was thinking...the two of us, her, and your...friend. Might make it less awkward, if she weren't the only girl in the room."

N"You know, that is exactly what I was thinking."

R"It was? Oh, I mean, of course it was."

*He finds himself descending cheaply-constructed angular flights of stairs in a vague spiral pattern. The basement is maybe about 15 feet to the roof, and of course, pitch black except for his flashlight. Right now, it's centered on an icebox and fuse box at the far wall.*

Azuma: A fuse box? When there are no power lines.

Azuma goes to the fuse box and flips a breaker off.

Hector seemed to find this reasonable and cast a last glance at Nero before leaving the room, followed by Eduj. They found themselves another room, and Hector immediately looked for a dresser.
Astarte looked up at Roatha, silent, and then looked back down.
