Cabin in the Woods II

Azuma: "Block it!"

Azuma takes a spare chair to wedge under the doorknob.

*With the doorknob secured, the door doesn't move as much. Euryale starts to stand up, but ends up falling over.*

E"Damn it!"

*She begins climbing back onto the chair as Nero looks around.*

N"Why are all of the lights off?"

Azuma: "Generator crapped out."

Taiyo puts hers and Euryale's food down to help Euryale up.

Astarte, unable to totally block out the sounds of what was happening, moved to Hector's room and made him move so that she could curl up on the bed with another person by her side. Reliable or not.

Eduj continued to stand around.

*A shadow moves by the window & footsteps can be heard on the roof. The thing outside keeps beating on the door, rattling most of the front wall. A bit of dust falls from the ceiling. Euryale thanks Taiyo once she's back in the chair.*

"They might not give up, this time," Eduj said. "What should we do if they get in?"

Azuma: "Let's think positive. You three learn anything during your trip outside? Can't imagine this thing wasn't out with you."

*Thiera strides over to the table, setting her lantern on it.*

T"Well, the part about the lightning was true. It split into multiple shadows, one was struck by lightning, and it was incapacitated for a short while. We also retrieved this."

*She takes out the broken knife, holds it up, & sets it down on the table as well. During the pause, the door can be heard rattling, & the footsteps approaching the bedroom half of the cabin's roof.*

T"I thought we might be able to figure out something about how this thing works. It looks like it made the knife rust somehow."

"Did it make contact with the knife, or was this done across distance?" Eduj asked, walking over to the table.

Azuma: "Did the knife do anything to it?"

*Eve glares at Azuma*

<Four of us were out there. Anyway, rust could elude to aging powers, or..>

*Eve pauses to gather her thoughts*

<A power to...corrupt, I think that sounds better, living and non-living things. Though getting close to it caused my ears to ring, to see my breath at one point.>

T"I remember he both stabbed at it & threw the knife. I don't remember much else about how it happened, but if it did anything to the monster, it didn't slow it down."

*She turns to Eve."

T"I would prefer an explanation that's more--"

*She pauses to look at the window as nails can be heard scratching it.*

T"...scientific."

"Surely if it could do that to a knife, it could easily force an entrance to this cabin," Eduj said, staring at the window. "It has all the time in the world, I suppose, it could just be playing with us."

Eve:<I 100% agree with you, I was just throwing out ideas.>

Cameron:<I'm pretty sure it's playing with us.>

*All of the sounds abruptly cease.*

T"There's a pretty good chance. Either way, we need to plan. Nero, Roatha, turn Euryale around so that everyone can see the door."

*They each get on either side of the chair & start to turn it.*

T"We found the road, but the Shadow kept us from making too much progress. We'll need to try again, when Euryale is able to move again. I'm guessing that will be a day or 2 yet."

*She heads into the kitchen to start making food for the trio after Mimiru is done. She looks at the sink.*

T"Since there's no power to run a pump, whatever's left in there probably won't last that long. We'll need a plan for water, too."

*Monu goes in to help Thiera*

Eve:<Indeed, we'll need to scout out a stream for something.>

Cameron:<Did you see anything?>

Eve:<Unfortunately, no.>

"We could attempt constructing some kind of makeshift crutches for her," Eduj said, looking at Euryale for a few moments. "Two more days here might be a little too long. If it gets bored and just wants us dead, we can't stop it."

Eve:<It'd be impossible to run with crutches, and we sure had to do a lot of that to make it back here.>

*Vanessa folds her arms & scowls at everyone, but mostly Eduj.*

V"If you're all done being stupid, yet again, I'll remind you that I found a pond way back on the second day."

Tirea:<Oh, I remember! Can you show us the way?>

"Please do," Eduj said.

V"I'm not going out there."

Eduj stared at her.

Cameron:<We need water though, we won't survive without it.>

Azuma: "Well, since the only person who knows where to find this fabled pond refuses to help, how long can one go without water before dehydrating? Especially living on mostly salt."
